One of the main reasons I rated them so Hi was when I first arrived and I was early.The recepionis told me that they where still at lunch, But I would be seen At 1 pm, which was my appointment time. She was very professional & friendly. She told me since I had to wait there was a star Bucks on the corner right down from them. I thought that was very nice instead of just heaving to wait in the waiting room. The nurse that took me into the room took her time to go over all my paper work & wanted to make sure she had everything that the Doc. would need. The Doc. was running a little behind, but the nurse made sure to keep me up to date. on when he would be seeing me. The Doc. took his time to explain everything to me, since this was a worker comp. case & what he needed to do as far as what was needed for his report. It was a good overall appointment.

Dr. Sofen and his office have changed my life! I am enrolled in a clinical trial at his dermatology and clinical-research practice. He and his highly professional yet compassionate staff patiently talked me through the pros and cons of participating in my first-ever clinical trial. At several points over the last 3 years, I had concerns about staying in the study. Their professional experience was instrumental in my deciding to stay enrolled. I am so glad I did. Dr Sofen and his staff are fantastic, and on the cutting-edge of modern research. Unlike pretty much every dermatologist Ive ever been to, hes interested in solving problems like eczema, and put me into a FDA trial featuring a drug called dupulimab that cleaned up my skin almost 95% -- after decades of suffering from eczema. Hes a pragmatic, ultracompetent medical professional who is genuinely focused on helping his patients. I also want to thank his staff, in particular Wendy Hulsopple, who was incredibly patient with me in helping me to not be afraid of the needles necessary for the weekly shots, and who showed me how to use them myself -- a step I never thought Id be able to do. She is awesome -- and a true reflection of how good Sofens office is. Cant recommend them highly enough.

I went to Dr. Howard Sofen today for the first time. I needed Mohs Surgery on my face and nose. A condition caused by sun exposure while Rollerblading over many years. I was kinda scared about having to have this done, but Dr. Sofen immediately put me at ease. He and his assisting nurse April were just terrific. I had had this same procedure done on another part of my face 4 years prior by another doctor and those results were excellent. I told Dr. Sofen who the surgeon was on my earlier very successful procedure and it turns out that he was the wife of Dr. Sofens professor from UCLA many years earlier. Coincidence is Devine. I had very minimal discomfort during the procedure and have had none since. I am healing well now. I recommend Dr. Howard Sofen and his Staff. They are very excellent!

I was a firefighter for 35 years and a Captain for 24 and can recognize a sterling representative of the dermatological world such as Dr Sofen. Dr Sopen is highly experienced, caring, compassionate, listens and is able to evaluate and treat any medical problem. In my quest to find a dermatologist I found Dr Sofen to be an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Medicine Dermatology. Dr Sofen is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine/Dermatology, and Pediatrics. He is also Chief of Dermatology at LA County/Olive View Medical Center. He is also published and speaks on dermatology worldwide. I feel lucky to be under his professional care.

Dr Sofen is an exemplary professional. He is straight to the pint while taking the time to give a fantastic explanation of what is going on. He will explain in laymen terms or professional jargon. He is articulate in both. Although my wait was short, the waiting room was very clean and I was greeted by the friendliest staff in the front office. The nurse who took me back to the procedure room was also very friendly and professional. Overall I would rate my experience with 10 stars. But, they will only let me give it 5 stars.

I had the Physicians Assistant assess my situation , and Dr. Sophen only came in to confirm assessments and do the surgery. So I think the other review may be misleading. Its the P.A.s job to handle the follow up. Its also incumbent ont he patient to ASK QUESTIONS. I had a cancerous melanoma removed by Dr. Sophen. He was very helpful in explaining everything and very professional. His P.A. Erica is also great. Everyone in the office is friendly. I do recommend Dr. Howard Sophen.

I am a relatively new patient, and have found Dr. Sofen to be professional and extremely well-experienced. He spends real time with his patients, reviewing treatment options, and tailors the treatment to the individual patient. I also compliment his staff of highly skilled Physician Assistants, particularly Ms. Rita Lau. The administrative staff is efficient, friendly, and courteous. Dr. Sofen is excellent. Medically informed, very current on new developments, great communicator - takes time with his patients and is genuine. The office staff is excellent also - well run, good cooperation among the team. Wendy, one of the nursers, is also great. Caring, gentle, great follow-up on questions presented - always prepared and on time. A problem solver who really cares about what she does and the welfare of her patients.

I am very Happy with Dr. Sofen. He did a great job on me. So did his assistant Rebecca Tompkins PA-C. She did the prep for the Biopsy and today was a tough day to judge wait time in the office only because they had a substitute person in their office doing the Lab Work and they didnt have their normal Lap person so its really not fair to judge them over these circumstances. I am very happy with work and Dr. Sofen.

The office of Dr. Sofen is well managed. The system they have in place flows quite well from the reminder appointment call, to the acknowledgement received at the receptionist desk. The crew that Dr. Sofen has surrounded himself with and works with have all been so professional during my experience with them.
