I saw Dr Moniak for my first pregnancy. He seemed nice enough at first, although visits were very short and I felt were a waste of time. Towards the end I asked him about labor and a mild heart condition I have. He said, "Well, were you planning on getting an epidural?" And I said "Well, I was going to see if I could possibly do without one" and he looked at me like I was crazy and said "And why dont you want one?" I explained to him that I would like as few interventions as possible, and while I wasnt ruling out completely an epidural, I would like to see if I could go without one. He smirked and then went on for 10 minutes telling me all about how normal it is to have an epidural, how 98-99% of all woman who give birth at Hoag get them, and the ones that dont are the ones who dont have time to get them because they are ready to push when they come through the hospital doors. He then went on to say that allowing a woman to labor & give birth with out an epidural is almost barbaric, and that countries that have their women give birth without meds are countries in which women dont have many rights. He then told me that when the woman is in pain during labor, several negative things can happen - 1) there isnt adequate blood flow to the baby, the baby gets MORE stressed (i.e. - bad for baby) 2) the nurses & family that are with you have a hard time having to see you in pain and its traumatic for them 3)when the times comes to push, you wont want to because of the pain 4) after you give birth, most women dont even want to hold their child because of the pain they are in and the exhaustion, and they just send their newborn off to the nursery. I actually left that appointment crying because I was so upset. I felt like instead of giving me pros and cons, he was trying to scare me into getting one. Then, at 36 weeks, he was trying to convince me to be induced at 37 weeks because I had a "big baby". No other reason. He even told me how to say the right things and fake labor so Hoag would have to admit me because he couldnt legally schedule me for an induction that early for solely the reason that he thought my baby would be big. I declined, and every week after that he tried to convince me to be induced even though I made it clear I I didnt even want to consider it unless I was over due. I felt like he didnt care about my needs, that he was just trying to fit me into his schedule, and that he thought I was a dumb, first time mom who didnt know anything. I would never recommend him to anyone.

I had Dr. Moniak - after going to Dr. Deyan in Newport and not feeling comfortable.. i was about 30 weeks pregnant when I switched.. and just felt better with someone else. I found Dr. Moniak.. and well it wasnt as good as I wanted.. but it was better than Deyan. Moniak is nice, but not very caring, personable or have a good bedside manner. wasnt very open and talkative. He would come in at visits, check you, then ask if you had questions.. then thats it.. ill see you in 2 weeks, etc. He wasnt very personal and trying to connect with the patient. HOWEVER - his nursing and his office staff - GREAT!! they are very nice, friendly, talkative, calming, and personal staff... they make you feel welcome everytime you come in - and they even remember your name. However - you do end up waiting about 45mins-1hour everytime and his office is always packed - even if i was the first appointment. Then when I went into labor.. i was at the hospital for about 39 hours and I only saw him twice!! yes twice- once to check me and the other to say - ok.. C-section it has to be... He wasnt very talkative or friendly to my husband. I felt he had his own agenda of lets get the pitocin, epidural, and if that doesnt work in 10 hours - lets do a c-section. Not the best impression for a first timer. Would only recommend if you cant find anyone else. Im sorry! He needs to work on being more open, timely and personal - and not RUSHING the natural process of BIRTH!

Dr. Monaik one of the best MD.s and i ever dealt with. He is very professional, experienced, understanding and giving you all his ears listening to you. He always giving you your time to know if you have any questions or concerns in mind. In my delivery he was VERY pancual and when my water broke I called him and he answered calming me down and gave me the instructions of what to do and to head the hospital "while i already knew what to do yet i was freaking out" it was SUNDAY :) Definitely Dr. Moniak will be my OB forever and i wish he would deliver all my coming babies. N.B: His staff is really awesome, amazing and very organized as well.. :)

Dr was amazing to my gf and I his staff especially billing Grace the rudest person I have ever meet speaks over clients and is totally unprofessional and absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had I will never recommended patients or a family member to the ob gyn office my gf is currently pregnant and fitting with her insurance to pay the bill of this office and to have to deal with such a doubt customer service is really unprofessional and I think the dr should really reconsider finding a replacement for this staff member.

On 8/12 at 10am I called to get information about scheduling a D&C due to a missed miscarriage. The woman who answered the phone had horrible manners and started asking me why I waited this long to schedule a D&C. I dont believe she knew what a missed miscarriage is. I was shocked to be treated this way by someone who works in the field and deals with women during such a vulnerable time. Especially, since the first two offices I had called, showed much more empathy. Due to this experience, I chose to go with a different doctor.

All I can say is Dr. Charles Moniak is an amazing man! My wife has trouble and our daughter was loosing her oxygen, and we told Moniak we wanted a normal birth, NO C-SECTION. But we had complications and our daughter was close to passing away on us but Dr. Moniak just shows up out of nowhere and is able to deliver our baby with normal birth. I am glad that the local hospital OBGYN did not do the procedure I honestly only had faith on him that night, what a scary but amazing night. RESPECT from the Solis Family.

Dr. Moniak delivered my daughter a little over 5 years ago and while seeing him when i was pregnant he was kind and understanding and listened to all of my questions and concerns. Now pregnant with twins he is being so awesome. Checking up on them a lot and answering my questions. Very happy that i have him delivering my twin boys just like he did with my daughter. The staff is always so great and remember me everytime i walk in they say hi brianna. Its always so warm and welcoming.
