Predatory business practices that take advantage of customers who are unfamiliar with the coverage offered by their insurance. As an employee of Texas A&M, Im covered by EyeMed. I went to Aggieland Eyecare to get a prescription for eyeglasses and purchase contact lenses. However, unbeknownst to me, EyeMed covers either contact lenses or glasses but not both. The guy at Aggieland Eyecare billed EyeMed for the contacts and gave me my glasses prescription without mentioning that I could no longer claim coverage for glasses. Its pretty obvious that glasses are far more expensive than contact lenses, so there is no benign explanation for his silence. When I called later and asked him to reverse these charges and let me pay for the contacts, he said the claim was already processed and there was nothing he could do, which is not what EyeMed told me. He then had the nerve to try and sell me a pair of glasses.

Dr. Garr was very impatient and frustrated during my eye exam when I could not see the difference for lens adjustments. She constantly touched my head, face, and shoulder to correct my position and rushed me to answer her questions. She said "I need a quick answer, yes or no!". Well, I need a moment especially when I dont see any differences between two lenses. I ended up with having a panic attack because of her. This was my FIRST time in my life and hopefully the last time. Even worse, the contacts she prescribed were out of range and could not see anything. Total waste of my money, time and energy.

First my appointment for an annual eye examination took so very very long. I was expecting to be away from work for an hour or so but this took in excess of 2-3 hours. The pair of corrective lenses which I purchased was installed on previously owned frames and sadly the lenses were scratched after just a few months of use while one lens has popped off the frame. Because of the poor comments I had read about contacting the office to potentially obtain assistance or a reimbursement

I had a good experience at Aggieland Eyecare. Everything was about on par with other optometrists Ive used, and Dr. Allison gets the job done with a pleasant chair-side manner. However other optometrists Ive visited have given me a little more commentary on the state of my eyes (e.g. any abrasions, good tear production/composition, levels of protein deposit, etc.), which I do like to know about. But I will be returning to Dr. Allison, and I love that the office is open on Saturday!

Stopped by to get a physical done as I couldnt go to my normal eye care doctor. They diagnosed me with hyperopia (far sighted), which is strange because I actually wear contacts for being nearsighted in one eye. Did not find out they had diagnosed me until over two months later and after they sent in the physical. Unfortunately there are not a lot of choices when it comes to doctors if youre looking for a physical. Though if you end up here, try to show up well rested.

When scheduling my appointment over the phone I was told that my insurance would be accepted. After coming in and filling out all the paperwork I was then told that they wouldnt take my insurance. I understand that insurance issues can be complex and that misunderstandings happen, but this mistake has cost be a considerable amount of time. I highly recommend some better training for your receptionists as to avoid these types of issues in the future.

I went to Aggieland Eyecare a couple of weeks ago and the service was excellent!The optometrist and her staff did a very thorough job with my eye exam and the choice of lens and frame. They even helped me get a new frame on a prior prescription sunglasses I had given up on which my previous provider said it was discontinued and they couldnt find a frame that fit the lenses!

The doctor was fine but when I got to schedule follow up - they charged us so many additional fees that we had to pay over $100 out of pocket!! I was super mad about having to pay for extra fees - it would be best to explain any additional costs beforehand. Our eye insurance has ALWAYS covered everything at every other eye doctor weve seen.

Phone customer service representative caught me off guard with the curtness and unnecessary need to correct my lack of knowledge for eye conditions. Maybe the actual appointment provides kinder service, but thus far, not a great professional experience.

Dr. Gaar is pretty impatient and very short with you. Ive only had one appointment with her and it seemed like she hated her job. The optometry is pretty out of date and needs a renovation. Wouldnt even recommend the place to my ex.
