Cannot speak to Dr. Hanrattys gentleness or quality as a dental physcian, but his front office staff and office manager are not helpful, are rude, have no compassion and are self-involved. I am a Pismo Beach native, and my family has been in SLO County for 80 years. I heard/read great things, so made an appointment a month ago. I am a Doctoral student living in another part of California. I made an appointment with Suncoast Smiles because I will soon be all but dissertation and will return to the Central Coast. I have insurance as does my spouse. I was unable to print the PDF paperwork for a "new patient " over a couple days, as my laptop hardrive is broken, and my parents do not use the internet very much and have limited technology by choices I showed up at 7:30 am for an 8 am appointment today, to fill out the paperwork early. The women in the front office were present, and a dog was even in the office, which I thought was very cute. They did not open tie 8 am on the dot. I would note, two other patients were present, too. When I same in to explain my situation, the front office staff did not even give me a chance to fill out paperwork as other doctors practices have. I know my medical history and could have filled this paperwork out in 7 minutes. I had everything prepared. The office staff claimed I would take 30 minutes "wasting our time." I am a busy Academic Researcher, and cannot wait 3 weeks to reshedule. I left, called a half hour later, and asked to speak to the office manager. She talked over me, said "I was very rude TO HER," and hung up the phone on me. I have worked in offices and had I treated anyone like this, I would have been fired. This is a #unitedairlines type experience, and left me feeling this dental practice and its employees only care about money, namely their own. Horrible.

I feel like Ive been to a hundred dentists in my life and I would have to vote him the best. He doesnt try to overcharge you or do some dentistry you dont need just to make more money in the business. I came to him for a 2nd opinion and going to stay. Do you want a dentist who is honest? Do you want a dentist who doesnt find a way to have you or your insurance company pay every penny he/she can get? Do you want a dentist whos life passion is dentistry? The last one is really hard to find. He told me if I had ANY questions feel free to call him. Since I already recently had X rays and an exam and cleaning at my other dentist, my insurance wasnt going to pay for this again, so they didnt even charge me for it even though I was prepared to pay it just to have a good dentist. BTW, I didnt tell him I was there for a 2nd opinion regarding a chip in a filling that my previous dentist wanted to make into a crown for $1200. Dr Hanratty looked at it and said it only needed a little resin to fix it.

Going to the dentist with you guys is about as good as going to the dentist can be! There you are, at 8:00 a.m., ready to give life and limb up to an errant parker, in a bright and energized state, just waiting to deal with a daylong of unkept maws, of people in pain, and dealing with alzheimic appointment cancellations, kinda like your recent experience with me (this has many of the earmarks of being a teacher as in my past life). The only way this experience could have been better is if the surf was up and VFR were in force. Thanks! See you in 6 months, or sooner. tony

This was the worst experience of my life! He overdrilled and over charged me! I had to go to another Dentist and have all the work redone that Dr Hanratty did on me!I would never use this Dentist.If I where you I wouldnt go to him.He went into the buzz at age 60 and has only been in it for 3 years..He has no Ideal what he is doing!Over $8000.00 of work he did had to be redone by another Dentist. All the fillings fell out withing 2 months! And He Did not Guarantee any of his work! He will recharge you and act as if he is doing you a Favor! ....

Excellent dentist and staff! I have been very happy coming to this dental office. I have had the best cleanings of any dental office I have visited. Dr. Hanratty is a perfectionist when fixing my chipped teeth, they have never looked or felt better! The receptionist has always been kind and helpful, she has even done her best to fit me in when I needed a last minute appointment. I am very pleased with this dentist and will continue coming here for as long as I live in this area.

I had an appointment today, but my infant got sick so I called to reschedule. The lady who answered the phone was absolutely rude and told me she could not reschedule me for future appointments because I was "unreliable." I will definitely be going to a new dentist.

Dr. Hanratty is an excellent dentist and has a super staff. Everyone always works so well together and is very friendly to all. As dentistry goes, it is pain free, easy to be there, and never a dull moment. I would recommend Dr. Hanratty to everyone!!

Dr Hanratty is not only a dentist he is an artist. He brought life back into my dismal chipped front teeth. The staff is warm, friendly and very helpful. I cant believe I actually look forward to going to the dentist now.

Dr Hanratty has been my dentist since he started in Pismo. I wouldnt ever think if going anywhere else. Even if you have just one tooth left in your head, trust it to Dr. Hanratty and his staff, they wont let you down!

excellent painless dentistry by Dr. Alot of problems with bill explanations and balances. Personally dont appreciate dogs in the office, as it is a Healthcare office and I am bothered by dander.
