My history with Physical Therapy Specialties is a mixed one. I was recommended to PTS by my pain management specialist over 2 years ago. I have had several lower back surgeries due to hyernated discs and ended up getting a 4 level fusion along my lower spine. When I started my therapy, the water provided a basis for me to move without pain. I was able to stretch and move body parts that were, and still are, otherwise numb. It was an amazing experience. However, about 6 months ago, that experience turned more into a nightmare. I started having to deal with scheduling issues and began receiving messages about them being booked out months in advance and that they can not fit me in. Really? Ive been using this facility for over a year and a half already and now they cant (or wont) make time to have me do my therapy? When I was able to make an appointment and go in, the situation declined even more. The employees that were once so helpful and supportive, were now aloof and unconcerned with providing me with any assistance I may have needed. They even tried to explain that I could no longer do my water therapy as an open-pool setting, but needed to have someone in the pool with me; another hurdle to jump over when it comes to the scheduling of these appointments. Wanting to address the matter, I decided to come in and see the general manager. The receptionist, who I have dealth with on many occassions, was quite rude and short with me. It appeared to myself that she wanted more to get rid of me than to deal with the problem. When I finally met with the general manager, he touched me and approached me in a matter that I thought was quite unprofessional. Upon bringing that to his attention, he seemed to turn cold very quickly and reply there was nothing he could do to further aid my recovery. What worsens the matter is his reasoning for not being able to provide me with this service fell into what he said was a billing concern; which was publically (against HIPPA regulations) announced to the entire facility and patients within it during one of my therapy sessions. When I got out of the pool to discuss this matter with him, he explains that this facility can no longer handle my billing needs. I am a workmans comp case with an open, prepaid 2 year contract that began in October 2011. Two months later, they have a billing issue when they have already received payment? After contacting the owenr, turns out it was no billing issue at all; rather, it was an issue that personnal at PTS had with me personally. I would never recommend this facility to anymore. What you may get in physical relief, you end up paying more in emotional and mental distress. They are discriminative against people with tattoos and piercings, or anyone who doesnt fit a certain demeanor. In other words, if you are a guy with tattoos who is is pain and doesnt exactly look happy 24/7...youre not welcome. Also, they make false accusations about their clients and then go as far as to deferm that clients character to others. This place is not what it seems at all. Be wary!

I had to write a review and I never do. Ive been dealing with neck pain for 8 months that has spread to my shoulders and made me fingers go numb. Ive seen multiple PTs and IDA had changed my life in just one hour. After one session last night I got the best sleep ever and pain free. I havent slept like that since before my neck injury 8 months ago. She seriously has magic fingers and she found my problem within 5 minutes.Im not saying im completly fixed now but im happy the pain is temporarily gone for now. I know if i continued to see her then id probably be fixed. The Only thing that sucks is shes extremely packed with clients and only takes private ones so I wont be able to have her again. But this rating is for her. Shes amazing!

The staff at the Physical Therapy Specialties are wonderful! They were so caring and kind. They really listened to me as I explained my injury. I had a frozen shoulder causing me alot of pain. I had been to a chiropractor and a doctor. No one could seem to help me. But Physical Therapy Specialties knew just what to do. First, they did a complete evaluation. They gave me treatment to ease the pain enough to where we could begin doing some exercises that I could continue doing at home. After a few visits at the Pleasanton location, I started going to the San Ramon location which was closer to my job. Physical Therapy Specialties helped me gain 100% movement back and no surgery was needed at all!

I have mixed feeling about Physical Therapy Specialties. The staff taking care of my health were ok although I had to change therapists at every sessions (a lot of the staff are not working every days). Now 4 months later, I thought that I would not have to deal with them again. I am told by my insurance that their billing department is not answering their question. I went on site, called 3 times, left voicemails. Nobody is interesting in returning phone calls, getting back to me or to my heatlh insurance. Do they want to get paid? Any interest in returning business or good recommendations? ...Nope. Disappointing!
