I AM INDEBTED TO THIS HOSPITAL. I brought my dog to visit a friends workplace and he accidentally ate rat poison that was lying around. It was enough to kill him so I rushed him to Santa Monica Pet Medical Center, the nearest animal hospital, which was a drive that took around 40 minutes. I went inside with my dog and explained the urgency of the situation - they needed to something quickly before the poison would be absorbed. This didnt seem to phase them as they handed me a sheet to fill out and had my dog and I WAIT for more than fifteen minutes. When they finally took my dog in they then wanted to perform ridiculously expensive procedures. I just needed to have my dog eat charcoal or something similar to get him to vomit the poison, but the vets wanted to hook him up to an IV, inject him with an anti-coagulant, and maybe perform a blood transfusion while they were at it. This would have cost me more than $1000, and while I value my pets life more than anything it just didnt make sense. I pleaded with the staff to just get my dog to throw up, but they refused and insisted on the expensive procedures. I was furious and began to panic, so I rushed him to the next closest hospital, Jones Kenneth DVM: Veterinary Hospital which was just around the corner. The veterinarian IMMEDIATELY took my dog in and gave him a charcoal solution to induce vomiting. I told him about the cost of the procedures at the other hospital and he told me not to worry, and assured me that we would work on the cost together later - he just wanted to save the poor pup first. Lo and behold, they got my dog to throw up everything he ate, and we could visibly see all the blue pieces of poison that hadnt been digested. The vet saved my dogs life, and the procedure only cost around $150! The staff at Jones Kenneth were clearly more understanding and competent. They knew how dire and pressing the situation was and handled it with far better tact and reassurance. I highly recommend this place to anyone, they know what they are doing and are far cheaper than the alternative hospitals.

I manage a storage facility in Bell located right in between the 710 freeway and the LA Riverbed. So you can imagine how many stray animals find their way through the riverbed and over to our storage facility. We happen to have a cat here by the name of Mama, this is her storage facility and was here way before I even became employed here 5 years ago. Occasionally we have a stray cat roaming through and Mama would always have to protect her territory. One day we had this big Tomcat that was not fixed passing through and he beat Mama up so bad her third eyelid was exposed. I didnt know how I was going to catch her because she never let anyone touch her. I found a kind Lawyer Mrs. Copeland who answered the phone for the FCS hotline. She said she would help with the bill to just get Mama to Dr. Jones office. The business that I work for said they could only give me $100.00 towards Mamas bill. Clearly Mama needed surgery which was going to be costly. What I didnt know was the ladies behind the counter...Chris and Liz each put up some monies for an animal in need. Im sure this is a special case as I would assume that Chris and Liz would be broke if they did this for everyone. Dr. Jones worked until the evening and fixed Mamas eye. Mrs. Copeland took Mama to her home to recover and even got Mama to let her pet her. At first Mama bolted to the doors and windows and broke a couple of things but Mrs. Copeland finally got Mama to feel secure and before long Mama was under the bed with the other cats. If it wasnt for these kind people stepping up to the plate and going above and beyond Mama surely would have died from infection. When I finally brought Mama back to the storage facility she was off and away pouncing the fields for gophers and chasing other strays away. But secretly she misses Mrs. Copeland. If it wasnt for Dr. Jones expertise in surgery, Mama would only have one eye. Kudos to Dr. Jones office and their employees!!!! Kimberly U-Store Bell Manager

Heres the deal. If you have a bad experience with these vets, more than likely its only because youve encountered Jones wife. She is volatile or saccarin sweet. You will know her by her enormous frizzed out hair and strangly placed 1980s hair bow. She has a very complex psychology, lets leave it at that. If she is at the desk, interact with her politely (reverently even) and respond with as little detail as possible. If she tries to sell you something, tell her you already have purchesed it or will purchase later. Ive noticed shes a little nuts about microchipping, and does not hear "No, thank you" gracefully. That said, the vets here are *wonderful* and well worth the wild card that is Mrs Jones. She is not there the majority of the time. The other ladies at the front desk and in back are lovely, kind people who have been there for years.

Ive been a loyal client of Dr. Jones for years. Why, you ask? Despite the dilapidated facilities and stench, the long waits, and Suzanne, his wife, who is a bit of a curmudgeon, Dr. Jones is an amazing vet. They are the only clinic I know of that will take in wild, injured animals (I brought a bird who needed to be put to sleep due trauma). Dr. Jones treated my dog, who had spiked a fever for over a month, refused to eat, and therefore, lost a significant amount of weight. The other vets there (no offense) misdiagnosed him so we decided to go to the big boss. As a result of Dr. Jones compassion, expertise, and patience, my little boy survived. We never pin pointed the exact cause but think it was due to an auto-immune disease. Dr. Jones is amazing and we will continue to take our dog children to him for as long as hes still practicing.

Rude. Smelly. And completely disorganized. I will NEVER take my pet here again. I will say theyre pretty cheap, but thats probably because they dont spend the money to hire friendly/knowledgeable staff or cleaning supplies. Really I would suggest that you avoid this place. I had to get records of my dogs shots for my apartment and you would have thought I asked them to move a continent for me. Not to mention that the doctor gave my dog stitches and never told me she needed them removed. They didnt suggest a post-op at all. I went to another doctor and they told me my dog still had stitches in. If you want to see how rude they are, just call them and ask them any question that takes a minute to answer. You will hear their eyes rolling. I dont even know how they get away with keeping their hospital open.

I went to this place yesterday after my pomeranian seemed to have gotten into my trash and eaten something that made her sick. The doc took a look at her, asked a few questions then looked at me and said he can do xrays or blood work, but he didnt know what was wrong with her. So I said whatever you recommend. He said Ill run back and schedule some blood work. He quickly walked out of the office. At this point, I havent received any estimates on the cost, Id only been told the exam was $49. I get called up to the desk to get my dog and then am told I owe $500! The doc didnt tell me he was taking xrays and no one told me how much it would be. I feel completely taken advantage of, my dog is still sick and now Im out extra money for the holidays.DO NOT GO HERE. Its a complete waste of time and money.
