Dr. V. Boyer has been a GODSEND to me on SEVERAL occasions. I have Cavies (Guinea Pigs) There are NO vets in my town that actually treat Guineas. (Maybe One,) but I NO LONGER TRUST THAT ONE! (Money is MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE ANIMALS WELFARE!) I called around and Kernville Animal Hospital said they DO treat Cavies. I took 2 of my Cavies in for examination and treatment. I was IMMEDIATELY impressed by the cleanliness, and the POLITE reception I recd ! ( Another vet I visited wasnt very polite or knowledgeable. I asked the receptionist if they treated Guineas, and she politely told me she wasnt sure. She went to the exam room to speak with the Vet, and I heard him say (All the way from the back room,) "Dont tell me, Hes two years old, and hes dying, right?" To which I said back, "No! Hes over FIVE years old, and has a painful lump in his side!" After obtaining a new Guinea Pig Book, I read that a lack of Vitamin C will cause Scurvy, of which one symptom is SENSITIVE LUMPS UNDER THE SKIN. I began feeding him Orange and Tangerine slices as a "Treat", and within a few days he was well again. It was after this experience that I started searching for a Vet to treat my "Little Babies." It was during this first visit that I noted the care and concern that Dr. Boyer showed for my Baby Girls. They were exhibiting signs of Chronic Severe itching. (As was I.) I asked my Doctor about this, and mentioned that these symptoms reminded me of Scabies, and he told me that Guineas CANT get Scabies. (To the best of my knowledge, ANY warm-blooded, non-aquatic animal can get Scabies.) Dr. Boyer took skin scrapings from my Cavies, performed a microscopic exam, and guess what? Diagnosis; SCABIES. Another time, I looked in on my oldest female, and her right eye was an OPAQUE MILKY WHITE! (The appearance of a Blind creatures eyes.) I quickly examined her and found a black splinter of unknown composition jutting out of the center of her eye. I VERY gently removed it with a pair of tweezers, and immediately took her to the clinic. Three days after Dr. Boyers treatment, Her eye looked as though it had never been injured! THANK YOU, DR. BOYER! Even though the Kernville Animal Hospital is approximately 65 miles one-way from my location, NO ONE ELSE WILL I TRUST WITH THE CARE OF MY CAVIES!

Three generations of my family take their pets to see Dr. Vicki, even though we dont live in the Kern River Valley; she is worth the trip. She is the kindest of vets, and has seen several of our dogs through the worst of health problems. I cant recommend her highly enough.
