I am thoroughly displeased with these people when it comes to ferrets. Their "specialists" are jokes. We had to find an ER vet on a holiday and none of our regulars were open. We were so happy to find one where we were told TWO specialists for ferrets were in...only to discover they were not specialists at all. As with all vets unfamiliar with the raw diet, the moment you mention it they focus on that and nothing else no matter what, often leading to dangerous and often expensive assumptions. They charged more than two hundred dollars for a fecal after scaring us saying he could have salmonella and DIE from it, and being thoroughly sick and sleep-deprived, I didnt catch it myself though I know better. We had to PUSH for a blood glucose test which should have been the very top of the list for any vet who knows ferrets even a little bit when they come in lethargic with frequent "Crashes" and vomiting as the low blood sugar causes nausea and sometimes diarrhea from the stress of it all. The BG came back FIFTY, and for anyone who knows ferrets, if its under 100, theres something off, if its under 65 even if theyre starving, which they were informed he wasnt, and you can clearly see hes a perfect weight, is INSULINOMA. They gave us -nothing- for it. At the very least he should have been given karafate for a BG that low, it could have KILLED him, he could have gone into seizures and never come out of them because of your irresponsible stupidity! It took a week to come back and claim all these nasties in his poop. Thankfully wed treated him as if he had insulinoma with extra feedings every four to six hours, managing to sort him out until we got to our regular vet four days later. He instantly did a BG test after shaking his head at these people. BG was 58, confirming insulinoma, we barely managed to keep it up that high with extra food. Hes been on Pred and all his previous issues have cleared up. If you people dont know anything about a ferrets digestive tract and their inability to really GET salmonella(since they have a three-four hour tract and it takes more than seven for it to kick in), then you need to go back to school before you charge people money for something unneeded, and get someone small pet killed. You wont be able to cover your butts from a lawsuit with anyone who knows better. The smiling dumb-act goes both ways. Sad that some places seem to be all about the money, and little to none about the animals well-being. Shame on you people for your scare tactics and taking advantage of people! Shame on you for risking the life of one under your care because you heard the word "Raw" Go back to school!

I seriously cannot express how amazing our experience was at Aurora Animal Hospital for our first visit! We decided after nearly 10 years to leave our current vet (Broadview Animal Clinic) because it has gone downhill fast over the last couple of years. I feel like Ive been missing out for almost a decade by not switching sooner! Below are a few highlights (this will be long!) I called to ask a few questions before switching over, so we could estimate the cost for our first visit. The receptionist was warm and answered all of my questions in detail. I was extremely happy with this because if we called our previous vet, they would act like you were interrupting their entire day if you called to ask any question at all! She made me feel right at home and confirmed my decision to switch almost immediately! We have a senior dog and a new shelter adopted dog that we took in for our first visit. We saw Dr. Kant who is absolutely the sweetest vet Ive ever worked with! They showed us to a room as soon as we got there, which is a huge change from waiting in the hectic lobby long past our scheduled appointment (what we were used to!) . The tech came in first to take down any concerns we had, which were expansive since this was our first visit with our new doggy. She spent ample time going over all of our questions and writing them down for the Doctor to ensure we didnt forget anything! She also addressed any questions we had about possible tests and vaccinations, and I never felt like she pushed anything at all on us. When Dr. Kant came in, she sat down on the floor and greeted our doggies. The whole experience with her was warm and welcoming and we never felt like we were asking too many questions. I felt like she was very thorough and the exam was night and day compared to what we were used to at our previous vet. She is seriously the best vet Ive ever been to and showed sincere love for our pets! Even the follow up was amazing! She suggested Benedryl for our new doggys allergy issues and forgot to send us with the dosage to give her. Before I could follow up to ask about it, she emailed it right over. She also followed up later that day with the lab results from our old doggys blood tests. I can highly, highly suggest taking your pets here! The experience from start to finish was absolutely unbelievable! I do suggest putting ample time aside for a well check, since they are so thorough, which I think is a good thing :) A+++++ for all of you at AAH! <3 Trouble and Freyja, Katie and James

Ive been taking my pets here for at least 8 years. They are wonderful! I can always get an appointment pretty quickly for urgent care and even when its not urgent, I can usually get in pretty quickly. They have very reasonable rates. They take the time to answer my questions. The doctor and staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable. My pets have seen them for everything: spay for my dog, annual exams and shots, illnesses (general tummy upset), teeth cleaning and pulling, heartworm treatment, nail trims, medications, etc. The ONLY time I have taken my pets to another vet is for an emergency visit at midnight, otherwise I wouldnt even think of taking them anywhere else. One other thing that I want to mention...I have an adopted dog that is difficult to handle when around other people and dogs. It is a very nerve wracking experience whenever I take him to the vet. It stresses him out and it stresses me out. The staff at Aurora Animal Hospital does everything they can to make us feel better and I really appreciate it. Thank you Aurora Animal Hospital!

My rating speaks for itself: RUN, DONT WALK your pets to the Aurora Animal Hospital! You wont find a more compassionate, experienced veterinarian than Dr. Holly Cogswell and her team of professionals to care for your pets! Dr. Cogswell has seen my cat, Maui, numerous times and has always gone above and beyond. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable in her field, its obvious in her patience and careful handling of Maui that she loves animals. Maui used to pee on EVERYTHING in our house, and my fiancee and I were at our wits end trying to figure out what to do. We took her several vets before winding up at Aurora Animal Hospital to see Dr. Cogswell. She explained to us that, rather than Maui acting out as we had assumed, our cats symptoms were those of a urinary tract infection. With some antibiotics and the proper diet, Maui was cured, cat-astrophe avoided! Ill never go to another vet again. Thank you, Dr. Cogswell!!
