1 star The staff lacks empathy. They are lazy and unorganized. I just moved to Connecticut, found this clinic online, and went in for a check up at the Hamden location because of my migraines. I was given a prescription and asked to check in the following week. The following week, I was referred to a Neurologist. I while I was at the clinic, I was given a prescription to migraine medication. I found out at CVS that the medication could only be refilled every 25 days unless an expedited requested to my insurance company (Cigna)was made by my Doctor (or clinic). I called the clinic and gave them the direct phone number I had received from Cigna so that they could make the request. The clinic staff (first name was Gene) said she was not going to call Cigna to make the request because it was past 4:00 PM, she wanted to go home, and quite frankly did not feel like it. I persisted and demanded that she calls Cigna and make the expedited request because my migraine occurs daily and Id be suffering for the next 25 days without my prescription. She persisted and refused to make the request to Cigna and even told the CVS pharmacist she wasnt going to and I would have to suck it up. I pressed and decided to go back to the clinic to make sure she makes the call to Cigna. When I got to the clinic she (Gene) said she called and spoke to a Cigna rep named Vanessa. Ostensibly there is a 48-hour timeline for the insurance approval or denial my expedited prescription refill request. The request was made to Cigna on Wednesday April 12th 2017. I waited for the rest of the week (Thursday – Monday) and received no feedback from this clinic. While I waited, I suffered from pain of Migraine. I took 5 – 6 pills of Excedrin daily to cope with the pain. On Monday April 17th 2017, I called Cigna to inquire whether the expedited refill request was actually made by the clinic. A Cigna rep confirmed that the request was made on April 12th 2017, and the request was denied on the same day with a faxed letter. The request was denied because there are alternative preventive medications I could be taking while I waited for my 25 day refill. Cigna provided a list of 9 different medications in the denial letter faxed to the clinic. However, while I waited on the status of my expedited refill request, I heard nothing from the clinic. Neither a follow up phone-call nor action was taken to prescribe any of the 9 recommended alternatives from Cigna. After speaking to the Cigna, I called to clinic to inquire about two things: 1. To ensure my neurologist referral had been initiated with my insurance company so that I can be covered 2. To confirm the status of my expedited prescription refill request and alternative medication recommended by the Cigna I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes because the clinic needed to locate my folder. When the staff returned on the phone with my file located, she asked which neurologist the clinic had referred me to. Ostensibly that information was not in my file. She also stated that clinic never received any status from Cigna. Once again, I went to the clinic and contacted Cigna while I was there. It turned out the fax was received, and ignored. I was frustrated, and I voiced my concern. The clinic staff responded saying “This is why you have migraines. You need to go sit down and relax.” I should not have to manage my PCP to make sure the follow up, or record data in my folder. The staff member simply said “this is why you have migraines. You need to go relax”. This level of lack in empathy is appalling. I was flabbergasted by notion that the clinic was not willing to call my insurance company because it didn’t fill like it and it was almost time to go home. In addition, the clinic had no idea which neurologist it had referred me to. I left with disgust, and I am currently looking for a new PCP. I will NOT recommend this clinic to anybody.

The staff is very friendly although the wait the last time I was there was very long. Although the facility is old the equipment all still seems to work and the co pay was great.
