I would never ever go back to this place again! It all started last year. My dog contracted kennel cough from a foster dog. I didnt know much about but I did know it was HIGHLY contagious. I told one of the many receptionists there that my dog had this b/c my foster dog had the same thing but she was already on medicine! She insisted on me still seeing the vet. I brought my dog in for her appt and they told me just to bring her in...well, when I brought her in the RUDEST receptionist of them all..and older women...screamed at me b/c I brought my dog inside..well your staff told me too..and then she called me ignorant..and wisked me into the backroom to see the doctor. Then they gave me medicine (which I could have just picked up without seeing the doctor and avoided all the drama) and sent me on my way. I did give them the benefit of the doubt and brought my dog backed there for her annual checkup. This went very smooth because of the Dr. (Dr. Nyselck?) He is a really good vet....then about a few months later my dog was bleeding in her urine. I brought her back and they ran all these test blah blah blah...and kept me there for 2 hours! When I went to pay the bill the girl told me $500! I almost fell down! Wasnt prepared for that esp when all that was wrong was a UTI. They gave me medicine and I went home with my little girl...she was still bleeding urine after the medicine was done. I brought her back to my original vet about 45 mins away...and he first asked me why they did all those tests..then asked me why they started her on this specific medicine first...he disagreed 100% with them..he said it should have only cost me $200....Now, eventho its a drive to see my regular vet..I go to him b/c of this crap this Davis Animal Hospital put me through. They are lying, cheating bastards and should be ASHAMED of their staff! I will never ever go back and I will tell everyone I know what a horrible, horrible place this is!

Steer clear. The VCA Davis Animal Hospital in Stamford is an awful, predatory place that only wants your money. I came to get a rabies shot for my dogs – both of them already registered with the vet, not new patients or anything like that. The whole thing took all of 5 minutes, and it cost me $230. Apparently, each dog had been given an “examination” by the vet for $76 each. This examination consisted of saying how cute they were, weighing them and saying what good girls they were. My vet’s name was Ziman. In previous visits they have always tried to sell extra treatments and shots and checks for our dogs, even though they’re perfectly healthy. It’s always a battle to get out of the door without forking out another $300 for some spurious check – “just to be on the safe side.” They want your money, and they know they can scare you out of it because you love your animals like children. Avoid. .

Davis Animal Hospital has such a great staff. Here are some helpful hints: 1- Vaccines are half price Monday and Wednesdays from 2PM-6PM. 2- Save money and skip the "examination" ($61, unless you have questions/concerns), ask for a tech visit to save money and get the vaccine(s) your loved one needs. Davis Animal Hospital can be costly but its worth it. They know what they are doing and they are great with all the animals. The staff is also very polite and helpful. Ive seen Dr. Schmitd and she was lovely. She gave me some heat for buying my puppy from a store, but my puppy happens to be extremely healthy and shes such a good girl. Dr. Schmitd was very helpful and knowledgeable. She also gave me great advice. Ive seen Dr. Berkowitz the last couple of times that I have went there and hes great. Hes very patient and kind. And Mike the Vet Tech is an amazing individual as well.

THEY ARE ALL ABOUT GETTING YOUR MONEY!! I took my two cats here mainly because they accept the Care Credit card but found out soon they do not treat their clients with any compassion. My cats dont get sick often but I still treat them regularly with flea/tick preventative meds because I foster other kittens sometimes. They would not sell me the flea/tic med stuff but once unless I paid them for an office visit too. Other vets do not treat their customers like this, once established with a vet.. most will sell you this kind of stuff without an office visit. Also, this place has a HORRIBLE reputation in general. GO ELSEWHERE. I finally found another vet nearby who takes the Care Credit card... Thumbs Down to Davis Animal Hospt... they DON"T CARE ABOUT YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE BIG MONEY TO SPEND, and are willing to spend it....even if your pet is NOT SICK.

The only halfway decent thing about this hospital is Dr. Nysleck (sp?). Otherwise, this vet hospital is nothing but a greedy group of really poor doctors. Besides being more expensive than anywhere else, I have had several bad experiences there, including a misdiagnosis of my dog. Furthermore, they seem to think they can diagnose a dog in 30 seconds, which they tend to do incorrectly. Furthermore, if you need to just get a shot, get prepared to pay a $100 physical checkup fee, on top of your over-priced vaccination. Also, make sure to get them all at once, otherwise you will have to go back, get the remainder of the shots, and pay the $100 fee again. BASTARDS.

Love this place. Take all three of my pets here. They have a friendly staff that is completely different from the one they had before, they can be pricey but do not push you to do anything. They will lay all the options out in front of you and help you chose whats best for your pet and your pocket. They also started up a service called Care Club. Its like having a payment plan except you get a lot more for your buck. I see a lot of negative comments on here about staff and prices but like I said before all new people and they never push.

I brought my dog Jake to VCA Davis Animal Hospital as he was diagnosed with heart worm. The staff was courteous. The vet tech explained Jakes treatment. After the first of two injections, Dr. Berkowitz called to say Jake was resting and he was fine. When I came the next day to pick up Jake, the vet tech took the time to explain symptoms to look for in case of complications. A few days after Jakes treatment, Jennifer made a followup call just to check on Jake; a nice touch and appreciated! All I can say is THANK YOU VCA DAVIS!!!!!

One of the best vets Ive ever had. The entire staff, from the receptionist to the techs to the vets were all extremely professional and friendly and have remembered my dog by name whenever we come in. They also explained every test and vaccine that they were recommending and answered all my questions and never tried to push for something I said I didnt want. I dont know why there are so many negative reviews for this animal hospital. I give them an A+

Decent quality care, at Hollywood prices. Their young, though apparently well-trained, vets appear to be overworked and dont return follow up calls promptly or at all. As other reviewers stated, they will try to sell you every diagnostic test under the sun. Since the care is OK, I still use them if my primary vet is unavailable.
