This is by far the most unprofessional vet clinic I have ever stepped foot into. The vet (assuming she actually is a licensed vet) led me to believe that my dogs entire hip was fractured in two and that he may never have full range of motion in his leg again. They charged me $240 for an inaccurate analysis of his x rays and didnt even touch the gaping wound in his leg. The vet didnt even know how to handle the situation so I was refered to Mt Pleasant Emergency vet to take another look. Thank god for them because the vet immediately saw that my dogs hip needed to be reduced back into socket and his wound needed stitches. While there was a small acetabular (hip joint) fracture that allowed his hip to pop out of socket, however it wasnt fractured in two and he certainly was able to regain full motion in his hip in less than 24hrs. The vet tech also came in before the x rays were completed and said to me and I quote "I shouldnt be telling you this but from the xrays we have already taken, he appears to be fine and doesnt have any broken bones". So not only was i given false hope by their vet tech, It was followed up by a false analysis by the actual vet after examining his x rays. The vet at Mt Pleasant told me he couldnt understand how the xrays could be misinterpreted as having a broken hip when it simply was dislocated. I will never visit this vet again for any type of serious injury nor any other type of problem that may arise with my baby boy ever again. These people need to work on a little thing called professionalism and the vet may need to go take some more classes at another veterinary school before she gives anybody else her absurd opinion. Thanks for making me pay $240 for literally nothing but an x-ray picture and awful insight. And thank god there are actually good vets in Charleston SC..IF YOUR PET HAS A SERIOUS INJURY PLEASE SKIP THIS VET AND TAKE THEM STRAIGHT TO MT PLEASANT VET SURGICAL CARE!

We love our Ohlandt Veterinary Clinic! We have been going there for over 35 years. We do miss Johnny and always will. We truly love Robyn and Ryan, the new owners. They are great. Katie is wonderful with our babies! The whole team is so good to us! We have 2 Austrailian Shepherds and they are part of our family. They are treated like one of their family, when they visit. We may bring either in for their annual check up. Merle, our older one, goes for regular laser treatments for his degenerative arthritis . This treatment has made a huge difference in his ability to move around and continue his daily play time with his soccer ball! He has a couple girl friends that take great care when he visits. We had to send another off ,to dog heaven a couple years ago. Robyn, Ryan, Katie, Charlie, and the rest of the team made that experience the best it could be under the circumstances . My family were with our " Legare" , when it was time . They were wonderful to us and gave us all the time we wanted and needed to say goodbye. I will never go anywhere but Ohlandts to care for my animals! They are truly the best. Tillie and Louis

I brought my cat, Millie, in for the first time the other day. I just moved to the area and needed to get her established at a new vetereny care place. Usually millie is scared at the vets office and tries to hide, but here she was a lot more relaxed. The colors of the walls were soothing blues and greens. The staff was very caring and gentle when treating Millie. They made me feel like they actually cared about here comfort level. They even brought her a blanket with calming cat pheromones to wrap her in which I could tell she loved. Millie loves blankets at home. Everyone who worked there was very sweet and a few extra even came up just so they could meet Millie and give her a pet. I even had a concern over a small bump on her tummy which they were able to look at immediatly. It was a big relief for me to be able have that reassurance that quickly. They also gave her a flea treatment which has been very effective since weve been home. I havent seen a single flea. And even after all of that, the bill was still reasonable. It was a very warm welcome and I would definitely recommend Oceanside Animal Hospital to everyone.

In the past I have felt rushed during my pups vet exams, but not at Oceanside. Dr. Gipe listened to all my questions and addressed all my concerns. We were even the last appointment on a Friday evening! The vet techs assisting Dr. Gipe during our appointment treated my dogs as their own, loving on them and making sure they felt comfortable. When I was leaving Kindra even helped me get the pups in the car. When selecting a vet clinic one of my deciding factors is, are they giving back? Oceanside is giving back and very supportive of Charleston Animal Society, donating to their medical fund which saves abused and abandoned animals. they are the real deal, they love what they do, they do it well and give back to at risk animals. Wonderful experience, I highly recommend Oceanside!

Ohlandt Veterinary Clinic has always provided me and my pets with exceptional care. I lived in Charleston in the 80s and had a dog they cared for then. Since returning to Charleston in early 2000s with 3 eventually 4 cats and now a dog, they have provided consistent and exceptional care of my pets. I was especially touched after having to put 3 cats to rest, before I even got home there was a single flower in a vase with a sympathy note from the clinic attached on my front steps! It brought tears to my eyes. I also received a sympathy card a few days later for each animal. I keep them all in each kittys file. Boo Hoo but it was a good way to mourn. Keep on doing what you are doing. Thank you from Samantha, Reese, Gracie Cat, Misha and Cody!!

The Tech who took care of Scout (I forgot her name) was very friendly and informative. She explained to me, the best Tic and Heartworm medication for Scout when I asked her about changing to a different type. I only raised the question because I saw something about a different brand on line. Chelsea checked me out at the end of our appointment. She is always so sweet. She is attentive to both Scout, and me for that matter. Even though you are a busy office, Chelsea never makes me feel rushed. To answer the question concerning how my experience could have been made better ~ I got nothing!

My cat Pogo passed this morning at Dr. Ohlandts clinic, and I have to say that there couldnt possibly be a better veterinarian in the Charleston area. He was her vet from 6 weeks old when I got her until today when I lost her, once I tried to go to another closer vet and regretted it immensely. John Ohlandt is a terrific vet and good person. He is a true class act and has a terrific bedside manner. The staff is also phenomenal. They are pleasant understanding and helpful. You never are made to feel like a bother. You are making a HUGE mistake if you go to any other vet.
