Very disappointed with the office. I feel for the sake of other animals this needs to be shared. We have been coming to you guys regularly since 2013 and we cant believe this is how we were treated. We brought Maeby in last Saturday, because she broke her top, canine tooth, basically in 1/2. Pulp/nerve endings were exposed and she was up all night in pain and shaking and crying. We were seen by a new vet, Robin Dutra. She had very bad attitude with us, rushed through the appt, acted like we were bothering her with questions and she diagnosed Maeby in the waiting area without really looking in her mouth, and told us it wasnt a big deal. She said she didnt think she was in pain! Come on! We know our dog - we knew how much pain she was in. She took Maebys blood, and sent us home with 2 pain meds for a couple of days . She said her Dentin would grow back over time and she would be fine. She said would just have a dead tooth in her mouth and thats it. ( a dead tooth left in your mouth isnt a good thing) And if they need to do an extraction down the road it can be done on a regular office appt, without anesthesia. And we still walked out spending $200. Ridiculous. ( we also had her anal glands expressed and it wasnt done correctly, she still had a ton of waste left and needed it done again) This didnt sit with us well. We did some research and we learned that what the vet said wasnt necessarily true. Dentin does not grow back. And having a dead tooth is not good for your dog! Having pulp/nerve endings exposed is extremely painful for your dog! How dare she say Mae wasnt in pain! Not to mention the risk of infection and abscess Mae could of been in! And to do a canine extraction without anesthesia is just cruel! Saturday and Sunday Mae wasnt herself- she was showing all the signs of depression and pain. We decided that we wanted the referral for the Dog dentist at PVSEC (this was mentioned to us on Saturday, that if we wanted it that would be fine to just call for it). So I called your office first thing Monday morning to get one. I told the girls how much pain Mae was in and it was urgent and they said they would get it in right away. We didnt hear anything after several hrs so I called PVSEC later that day and they said they never received anything from you guys. So we decided to take matters into our own hands and took Mae to another vet for a second opinion. They were in shock at the things we were told by your vet and how we were treated. They said the tooth needed to come out right away and could clearly see how much pain she was in. They performed an extraction right away (under anesthesia of course!). They had to cut around bone and she needed several stitches. I would love to know how this would have been done without anesthesia, during a regular vet appt.... Anyway, Mae is fine now, recovering. Almost done with her pain meds and antibiotics. Heres what gets me...... We get called TODAY by you guys, confirming/asking if we still wanted the referral for PVSEC! Almost a week later! And this is the first we have heard anything! I called Monday morning, said we needed it and it was urgent! Come on! Its just unacceptable. PVSEC never even got the referral. Im so glad we took matters into our own hands. Shes already had surgery and is healing by the time you guys called us. The last few times we have been there, we have noticed a decline in friendliness with the front desk staff and being charged for things that we really dont need... it seems to be more about the money/growing business and less about the animals anymore. we have given you guys so much money over the years we are very disappointed. We arent ones to complain but.... Our girl is our world. Her health and well being is extremely important to us. Im so upset about how we were treated and that no one cared that Maeby was in pain. We arent sure we are coming back.

Been going to the Big Easy since we rescued our dog 3 years ago. The vet techs are really great and the waiting room and exam rooms are very clean and comfortable. I feel like my dog gets good service and the vets are knowledgeable and good at explaining diagnosis etc. However, I have three major issues with the place though that have got worse over the last couple of years. The biggest issue I have had is that in my last 3 visits in less than a year I have seen three different vets none of which are the original vet that I started with. My dog is only four but it would be nice to see some consistency in his care. On one occasion we were referred to a specialist, I called the practice later in the week as the specialist and myself had some further questions and was told the vet I saw only comes in on some Mondays so they werent sure when/if she could get back to me. I left a message and never heard from them. For this reason I am planning to move my dog to a new vet. You always always end up being there for over an hour and even once you have made it to the exam room expect to wait again. I understand that there are emergencies to prioritize but they really should have a system for pets just coming in for routine check ups/shots that doesnt take so long. I have tried going at various times on various days but didnt seem to make a difference. Finally they have overcharged me three times! I cant really complain and it definitely wouldnt stop me going there as everytime they have acknowledged the mistake and offered me credit but its really silly things like double charging for a shot etc. and is just an extra annoyance. Once I get it but 3 times just seems unprofessional.

I can not say enough good things about this place. I was put in the very difficult spot of needing a prompt and urgent euthanasia for my beloved pug of sixteen years, and The Big Easy was suggested to me by another place that couldnt accommodate us immediately. Having never been here, I was nervous about how they would handle the situation - especially since it was the first time Id gone through it. That said, from the very first phone call to make the arrangements all the way through the end, I found them to be so compassionate and understanding of the difficulty of the situation. They suggested I use a back entrance instead of the front if it were easier for me (since Id likely be upset), and promptly ushered me into a private room instead of having us wait in the main waiting area. I appreciated this consideration so much. For the actual process, everything was clearly explained in a manner that was delicate, but honest. Jess, the vet tech, was fantastic, gentle, and very caring. Dr. Kristin Thornton completed the euth procedure, and was equally detailed yet caring. I was also so entirely reassured that the procedure was done in a small, quiet, comfortable low-lit room instead of under the harsh lights of an office on a cold sterile table. It was so reassuring to me, and helped to put both my pup and I at ease during her transition. Without reservation, I can recommend this place for the most difficult thing a pet parent has to go through. Theyve won my business and my heart for any other care we might need for our pups. Thanks so much for everything, truly.
