Having filled out the patient information on their online "Patient Portal" beforehand, I made my first visit to the IMA of Westport today. Located on Post Road the parking lot had plenty of parking spots available. Walking into the building I actual noticed how clean the lobby and elevator were. I checked in at the desk and before I was finished signing a couple of papers (legal release forms) the friendly nurse was calling my name and escorting me into an immaculate exam room. Dr Horn soon followed and began a thorough, comfortable diagnosis. Dr Horn was pleasant, articulate and had a spiral bound medical picture book to show me exactly what was going on. He went through a list of things that I needed to do to get onto the road to recovery. He personally sent in my prescription to the pharmacy and gave me a list of foods that I needed to eat. All in all it was an extremely pleasant doctor visit. I dont usually write reviews but Dr. Horn and the IMA of Westport deserve a good one.

This review doesnt address the doctors, rather the practice itself. Its an office that is NOT well run. I showed up for the after-hours walk in clinic on a Tuesday; the door was locked but the lights were on/patients waiting inside. After knocking on the door, another patient let me in (as well as a gentleman with me who actually did the knocking on the door), we waited at the front desk. Ultimately, the receptionist informed us that the doctor on duty had decided to cancel the rest of the after hours clinic because he was running an hour behind. (1) Dont just lock your patients out of the office (who showing up for the clinic) - have the decency to hang a sign on the door and (2) you run an after hours clinic most weekdays. Figure it out. (3) People go out of their way to work with the hours you keep. Keep them.

Great location, lovely office building. The stars are for great doctors and nurses not for the lousy office staff where with receptionists there is no such thing as a welcoming smile. and where reception is more often than not abrupt, sometimes even rudely bossy. Checking out after seeing the doctor is often sour and bordering on unfriendly. The good doctors never hear of this, unfortunately.
