Worst dental care. Ever. They should not be allowed to do dental work on military members, their family, or anyone. Unorganised clinic and terrible dental work. I had heard negative stories both on here and from others on base and I deeply regret ever going to their office. I went to American Dental to get a filling done. I arrived on time, waited in the chair for nearly an hour until my dentist finally came in. As I am sitting in the chair waiting for the novicane to kick in, my cell phone rang. It’s American Dental! Yes, they were calling me as I was sitting in their chair. When I answered, they were calling to make sure I was aware I had a cleaning at that time. Turns out, they booked two appointments close together. After telling them I was literally sitting in the chair in the building about to have my filling done, they apologised and hung up. After my appointment , I went up to the desk to pay, and the woman wanted to charge me for cancelling the other appointment. $50 for having to reschedule an appointment they screwed up. I wouldn’t budge, and the woman asked someone in the back what she should do, and they told her to let it slide. When I got home I first noticed something wasnt right. I’ve had cavities filled but never experienced pain after. I was just starting to eat when I had a sharp pain where the filling was done. This was so bad I couldn’t even chew eggs on the left side of my mouth! The pain never subsided. I went back to the dentist. The first appointment, the dentist told me my bite was off. She shaved it down and sent me on my way. Even though the filling was shaved down, that night, my tooth still hurt. I went back once again as soon as I could, and this time the dentist seemed rather annoyed. I told her it still hurt. She asked if it had gotten worse I said it was just the same. She told me to take pain killers when it hurt, and don’t stop chewing on that side just because of the pain. I told her the filling was also preventing me from flossing properly in that area. The filling cuts the floss and my tongue. It’s nearly impossible to even get the floss between my teeth. She told me to just pull the floss through and thats it. Finally, I made another appointment, this time with another dentist. He quickly helped me figure out that the tooth was actually cracked. He had me bite down on different sides of the tooth that was causing pain and found exactly what side the pain is coming from! I was so happy to finally have an answer. He seemed to be the only dentist there that knew what he was talking about. Sadly, the best way to fix this is a crown. My insurance only covers half of this, and so I will be stuck paying 600+ dollars out of pocket. But this pain started as soon as the novicane wore off which leads me to believe this happened during my appointment. I called American Dental once again. This was the last time. I wanted my tooth fixed. It never caused pain until this horrible filling was put in. I was willing to pay, but not 600+ for something they did wrong. The receptionist stated that there is no proof that there is a crack, said they were already giving me a discount for the crown. She said I’m only having symptoms and they have no proof this is actually the problem. They just want to do a crown so that my symptoms(not being able to chew on the left side of my mouth without being in horrible pain) will go away. When I tried to point out that there was no pain before the filling and I never had such issues, she said I wouldnt understand, this is something that someone who went to dental school would understand. She also said that the dentist knew that I might have needed a root canal or a crown and just tried to go the cheaper route. The dentist never even discussed these options with me. I had X-rays done, was told I needed a filling, had it done and left the office in pain. No one should leave a dentist in more pain and in worse condition.

This is the best dentist I have ever been to. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Office Appearance- The office appearance is absolutely wonderful. I liked the office that they had before, but the new office is spectacular. Its decorated to be very calm (which is good for people scared of the dentist like me). Theres lots of neat fish tanks and pretty ocean themed pictures. Scheduling appointment- They are pretty busy and sometimes its a while until you can get the appointment that you want, but the lady (Claire?) that does it is extremely helpful and always remembers what my days off are and I dont even have to tell her. I had to change an appointment recently and they couldnt fit me in until a month or so later. She put me on a cancelation list and I had a new appointment on my day off less than 2 weeks later! Very very diligent and professional. Front Desk- The front desk ladies whoever is there is always extremely nice and helpful. Even when they are really busy they always acknowledge that you are there and let you know as soon as they can that you are signed in and will be seen soon. I always arrive for my appointments early and I didnt wait anymore than 10 minutes before they called me back. So fast! Dental assistants- I had an appointment to get a filling redone at my last visit and unfortunately that was not the case and I ended up needing a root canal. The dental assistant knew I was very upset about this (yes I cried) she got me tissues asked me what my main concerns were (PAIN AHH!) and helped me feel a lot better about what was about to happen. She was super sweet and great at helping the dentist with the whole procedure. She also immediately went and got the price difference of my procedure from up front and brought it back to explain to me. Dentist- Ive seen both dentists at this office; Patel and Clarke. They are both really great. Chris is my favorite. I could not feel the novocaine needle even the first time and I know sensed that I was not happy to have a needle in my mouth and was really fast and gentle. The actual root canal (never something I WANT to do) was a lot better than I expected. Of course I was in the pain the next few days after, but the procedure was something that I could handle and the dentist was making me laugh and feel better the whole time and this made the entire procedure a lot easier for my to deal with and lessened the stress. End of the appointment- I ended up having to pay more than expected obviously and need a few more things done as well. The lady at the end that takes payments I believe is the same that schedules the appointments and she explained everything to me that I would be paying for and what was going to come up later as an expense when I finished everything with this problem tooth. Super helpful and caring. Nice, caring, exceptional dentist office.

First, I should say that I take great care of my teeth and had visited this group every 6 months for regular cleanings... Terrible terrible experience! I had a filling by Dr Patel that became very painful. I went back 3 times in 2 months and was ignored. The tooth ended up being massively infected. Dr Fortin finally tried to fix with root canal, only after I returned the 4th time with a knot the size of a baseball on the side of my face. He was unable to complete the root canal because of the swelling and left my root exposed, sending me home with a low grade antibiotic and telling me to return in 10 days. I was in excruciating pain and could not eat or drink anything. Two days later, I was admitted into the emergency room where that tooth and the tooth next to it had to be pulled due to massive infection. I was then admitted into surgery where my jaw had to be drilled through my neck to drain the remaining infection by an oral surgeon. I spent 5 days in the hospital on strong, addictive pain killers and intravenous antibiotics, followed by an extensive recovery at home. My face is now lopsided and scarred from the surgery and loss of teeth. It will cost me over 6 grand to correct, as I must now have plugs screwed into my jaw to replace the teeth. That is on top of the 14 grand I paid for the hospital/surgery. Without these teeth, I can now only chew on one side of my mouth. To add insult to injury, neither Dr Patel nor Dr Fortin (or anyone from the office) ever called to check up on me or see why I hadnt returned after the 10 day antibiotic they gave me. What a nightmare. Do not trust your teeth to these dentists!!!
