Dr Patel is awesome. I have been going to him for years. He is pleasant, practical and attentive - and very responsive off hours. His staff is another story. I have never been seen on time. Ever. Normally the delay is about 30 minutes, but today, after making an appointment via Zoc Docs AND receiving confirmation emails and texts, I sat in the office for over an hour. I arrived at my appointment 15 minutes early and signed in. I was not asked how I made my appointment or told I was not on the schedule. 45 minutes go by and still nothing. After someone who came in after me with a later appointment was taken to the back for his appt, I asked what was going on. The receptionist then proceeded to tell me how I made my appointment wrong and that I was not on the schedule - loudly and repeatedly. She told me of the known problem with Zoc Doc scheduling but refused to take responsibility for putting protocols in place to minimize the issue while they figured out how to make the interface work (apparently this has happened to others before me). In the end, only a forced apology was rendered and I was not seen. Pretty close to being done with Dr. Patels wonderful practice :-/

Dr. Patel is one of the two best doctors I have had in the last 10 years. I became his patient two years ago after I started to notice severe fatigue and slight gain weight. I had gone to several other doctors before who offered inconsistent advice: work out more/less, drink more/less coffee, sleep more/less, it is the change in routine, it is just ageing (I just turned 30). Dr. Patel took me seriously and very accurately diagnosed hipo-thyroidism. He gave me a referral to an endocrinologist and I am back to normal. More recently, he treated a chronic anemia condition I had. In the past another doctor even wanted to make tests for leukemia. Instead, Dr. Patel accurately diagnosed that I was not assimilating iron well because my vitamin D level was low. I started taking vitamin D, no more problems. In summary, an intelligent, caring and honest doctor, very accurate. Not one of those how tries to get every penny from your insurance.

Yes, the reception team is not the most welcoming. Yes, you most likely will get an assessment from a medical student. You know what? Who cares? Dr. Patel does a tremendous job with diagnosing your condition and explicating several options, with indicating his particular recommendation. He does this with an extremely soft-spoken, informed and gentle bedside manner. I actually like the fact that he is mentoring young, so-to-be physicians. We need more doctors like him to dont over-prescribe and make common sense recommendations. Lastly, if you think the staff are overly rude or lazy, I suggest you have some patience and listen to David Foster Wallaces commencement address, "This is Water."

Terrible and disorganised practice. When i arrived for my appointment, 2 other people had the same appointment time as me on yhe sign in sheet so i had to wait 45 mins before waiting another 15 in a small medical room. First a medical student came as asked what was wrong and nervously did an assessment, which would have been fine but she wasny introduced by Patel at all. Then Patel came in and did it all again. He then made a mistake on my prescription so the pharmacy has been trying to get in contact for two days with no response. When i ring the reception no one picks up or its the same lazy and rude person who is of no help.

I havent actually gotten to see the Doctor yet today. I am sitting in an exam room, exhausted and wanting to go home to sleep, an hour and a half AFTER my appointment with no sign Dictor Patel. While I appreciate them fitting me in, this is ridiculous and unprofessional to have such long waits and no organization. Update:. Doctor Patel and his Nurse Practitioner are great. Very caring, and really listen. But I have been waiting for 15 minutes to get my prescription with the front desk, and shes friendly, but with so much going on its taking ages. I just want to get home and back to sleep.

Ive been Dr. Patels patient for two years now as well and I recently called to make an appointment because of abdominal pain. I described my pain over the phone, to Dr. Patel himself and he sent me directly to the ER because it couldve been appendicitis. He called the ER to alert them that I was coming in, and then called a few hours later to check on my condition. It turned out it was appendicitis and I had it removed that same day. I was impressed with his immediate reaction and concern. I would recommend him to others in a heartbeat!

Despite his rude and unprofessional staff, I used Dr Patel as my primary care physician for a decade. At one time, he was responsive and reliable. But, sadly, that is no longer the case. Now his staff is not responsive to requests for refills, he doesnt return even emergency calls in a timely way, it is difficult to get convenient appointments at his practice and, worst of all, he refuses to do the pre-auth calls that insurance companies often require.

It’s obvious from the first moment that you meet Dr. Patel that he is a brilliant man who cares deeply about his patients. He takes the time and understanding that is needed when approaching a medical issue. I could tell he was listening intently to my concerns and input before coming to a conclusion. His staff are not only friendly, but fun as well. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a well-qualified medical doctor in the DC area.

Ive been going to him for 2 years now, and I love how thorough he is and how he clearly stays up-to-date with recent research. He has consistently seen me very close to my actual appointment time, which is rare these days. Most recently, he really impressed me when I had a concern and he took the time to return my call & call me in a prescription on a Friday night at 7p after finishing his usual duties. I was SO impressed and grateful!

Ive been a patient of Dr Patel for over 4 years and have always received superior care and service. Getting an appt has always been quick, his staff has been responsive and friendly. Having in-house blood work simplifies the process- rather than having to go to a different location to have it done. He has a constant rotation of medical students- even they have been exceptionally thorough and helpful.

Dr. Patels practice is pretty efficient and everyone is very friendly and helpful, including the front desk people and the lab. Dr. Patel spends a little more time with me than the average doctor. I can usually get an appointment within a few days. Dr. P also makes great references to specialists, considers how much i have to spend on things, and treats me like i have a brain. All good.

Doctor Patel is very nice, but the people that work for him are not. He is overbooked all the time. After waiting an hour for an 8 am appointment I just got up and left and there were still multiple people in front of me that hadnt seen him. If you have only been seeing patients for an hour and your already an hour behind on appointments then you are booking way too many patients.
