My physician recommended Costal Eye, as I needed new glasses and told him I had new eye floaters in my left eye. I called ahead to ensure they took my insurance, BCBS, which they said they did. I double checked when I got there as well. The girl who checked my eyes was very good and took her time to get it right, which I appreciated. Then the doctor checked my eyes at the end for all of 30 seconds, just to tell me they were fine. When I asked again about the floaters, he said theyre normal, and wouldnt give me any suggestions how to make them better. Then I get billed 20% instead of the flat $20 co-pay my insurance was supposed to have. This was the first red flag. Turns out that they DONT TAKE VISION INSURANCE BECAUSE THEY ARE SPECIALISTS!!! I was never informed of this. Due to this and me not having met my detectable, I have to pay $180 for a "eye specialist" visit instead of $20 for an "eye doctor" visit. Now, this is not the doctors fault, but their staff never indicated any of this. They even have an eyeglass shop inside just like a normal optometrist. Which I then found out they dont take BCBS AT ALL, even though the office does. Thats great. To top it off, they wouldnt give me any eye protection to drive home with after dilating my eyes. So I have to drive home nearly blind in the Florida August sun. I wear transitional, which dont work in the car, but normally thats fine. The whole experience was a disaster and never should have happened. If you truly need an eye specialist, the building is nice, as is some of the staff. But be careful about thinking theyll take your vision insurance for an optometrist vision, because they wont.

Coastal Eye Institute was recommended by my General practitioner for evaluation due to diabetes. I found them to generally be diligent, Knowledgeable, and efficient in their work. I found their junior staff genuine and personable. What I did not find was a staff focused on the patient. As a new patient with a referral my expectation was to have an initial consultation to discuss why I was there, and an explanation of what procedures needed to be run and why, with a follow up consultation immediately after the procedures. Instead their process was to immediately begin running a battery of examinations without any explanation. The entire time I was wondering if they were truly necessary, or if it was simply to inflate the insurance billing. At the end of the visit I did meet with the ophthalmologist as they completed evaluation, but I was less than impressed as they seemed annoyed to answer any questions that I had. If you are an individual that simply needs professional testing done then they are well equipped and knowledgeable to perform those services, and would recommend them. If you are a person that wants to actively participate in your healthcare by understanding and questioning then I would recommend you seek another practice.

Front desk staff was rude and condescending. Treated senior patients as though they could not hear when it was obvious we could. When asked for an updated eye glasses prescription asked with we wanted one because we scratched our glasses like we were bad children. Appointment setting staff was the worst. Refused to schedule a time we could come and would not stop harassing us to accept the time they wanted to give us even though we explained we couldnt do that due to work. Asked to make it for the following week to see if a better time was available and wouldnt do it. Stay away. I refuse to let my mother go back there. We were the second patients that day to walk out angry and disgusted with the front desk staff.

I wanted to know how long it would be before I could get an an appointment for my first visit. I have a floater that I wanted checked. Didnt care what Dr. I have health ins, but no eye care. I told her repeatedly I would pay cash. All I wanted to know was how long it would be to get an appointment. She would not give me a date until she ran my insurance. I told her I would give her all that when I decided if I would go there depending when I could be seen. She refused to give me a date until she ran the insurance. All she would say is it would be this month. I said goodbye.

After receiving excellent care from Dr Berman and his staff, we were surprised when we returned to their optometry store only to be treated with indifference by the staff that operates that part of their eye care practice. We walked out after a few minutes of being made to feel unwelcome and unappreciated as patients/customers and took the vision prescription elsewhere. Is anyone watching the business over there?

It took @ 2.5 hours from my appointment time to get to the finish line. It is always worth the wait for Dr. Edelman, and I know he runs late because he actually takes time to talk with each patient commensurate to their need. I do wonder if there might not be a tendency to book too many appointments too close together because one can count on a protracted visit.

I called to ask about an appointment for my daughter, they only were concerned with what insurance I had. I am actually glad because I found a great Dr. who was more concerned about patients, not payment. While I understand it is a business, I was more than willing to pay what ever the fee, upfront.

We have been patients of Dr. Friedberg for many years. I have always received the best treatment, and all questions have been answered throughly. The staff consists of professional individuals who strive to provide excellent care. My husband and I strongly recommend Coastal Eye Institute!

Sat in waiting room 45 minutes before seeing a Dr, sat in other rooms alone over and over. I was there for 3 hours to get an examine. at the of appt I had to ask to get a script and I specifically asked for my pupil distance measurement. they did not give it to me.

Very well maintained and fully staffed establishment. The office staff was very accommodating to meet my last minute need of appointment. Manatee -Sarasota Eye Clinic was recommended to me through a good friend and I am very satisfied!

Evacuated for hurricane Matthew with a serious eye condition, called for appointment, and staff was not helpful, even after begging! Felt like I was calling the IRS Called the Eye Depot and they were awesome!!!

They overbook appointments. I was scheduled for 8:15 today. It is now 8:45 and Im still waiting.
