Ive used this place 3 times in "time crunch" situations where I absolutely had to get one of my foster dogs vetted and no other options were available to me. None of the experiences were pleasant. The first time, the vet (who looked to be 14 years old) attempted to vaccinate my foster dog, and when she stuck the needle in my dog, she went too hard and must have hit bone. With no exaggeration, my dog was shrieking in pain and the needle came out bent at a 90 degree angle! My most recent visit was today. I am now aware that they changed owners. From my experience today, I can advise that you avoid this place like the plague. I brought in my latest foster dog for a routine heartworm test. From past experience at other animal hospitals in the area, I expected this to be a ~$40 visit. I nearly dropped my jaw when they charged me $88. This included $30 for a "vet exam" that never even happened. The vet did not exam my dog at all. 2 vet-techs handled him and drew blood, taking all of 2 minutes for us in the room. The only thing the vet did while he was in the room was ask for clarification if my dog was 14 weeks old or 14 months old (side note: Im sorry, but any respectable vet should be able to tell the difference between a 14-week old puppy and a grown dog!) The vet did not so much as touch the dog, so he certainly didnt give the dog an exam. Back to the bill...even when I told the receptionist that we did not have an exam, she shrugged it off and said something about charging that to every patient. Thats scary to see that they are comfortable charging clients for services they havent actually provided. I received a copy of the receipt and saw that the heartworm test was an outrageous ~$60 alone! Within minutes of my being swindled out of nearly $90 for this fantasy vet exam and outrageously overpriced heartworm test, the vet tech comes out and says "bad news, the dog is heartworm positive". I was ready to cry at that point, thinking about the cost to the non-profit rescue to get him through the treatment, and having to delay the adoption I had lined up for him for next weekend. Then the vet tech goes "Im just kidding, hes negative". Im sorry, but how unprofessional to joke about medical test results, even if it is "just a dog"!!!!!. This place is HORRID! Bad business practices to rip off customers. DO NOT USE THEM! I highly recommend Redland Animal Hospital for compassionate, quality care. English Plaza is the pits.

When I first went to this Vet, I thought "wow, what a great place!" Until you have an emergency. My dog started to have puppies the first pup came out fine. The second pup, came out backwards and got stuck in the birth canal. Finally managed to get the 2nd pup out but it was dead. Rushed my dog to the Vet and I knew she was going to need a c-section. Left the one pup and the Mom with the Vet. I was told "dont worry call us in a few hours, we take care of everything." I was really on edge so I called as soon as I left and told them to please make sure the one puppy is eating often. After 10-15 minutes without eating, a puppy just born dies. I wasnt given any reassurance and right there I should have gone back. But, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Mind you, Ive been going to this Vet for the last 2 years. Thirty minutes passed and I had to call again, to see if she had gone into surgery. When I call I was told "weve been trying to reach you, your phone is disconnected". I told her impossible, Ive had the same # for the last 12 years and Im calling you from the same # you just read back to me??!!! She begins to argue with me and insisting that my phone is disconnected??!! I didnt care about that right now; I wanted to know about my dog. So, they tell me they couldnt go into surgery until they had a signed consent to do the surgery. I was beside myself; I couldnt believe this was happening! I just left and wasn’t asked to give consent. They knew she needed surgery and they just blew me off. I was about 20 miles away; I was flying thru the streets to get to my dog so I could sign the consent. After all this time I knew all the puppies will be dead and now possibly the Mom too. Got there gave consent and paid $700. Told the girl to call me right now to check the phone # was correct. Showed her my phone and the # they had for me was right. She blew me off and didn’t give me an apology or any emotion of concern. Ive never been treated so horribly. Finished with the surgery and basically all the puppies had died, even the first one that I asked to make sure he ate. Thank God, they didn’t kill my Dog too. That whole experience has left me traumatized. Im currently seeing a lawyer and I will be taking this Vet to court. You cant have incompetent, careless, uncompassionate, people handling peoples pets. For basic care this Vet is ok. But, DO NOT GO TO THIS VET WITH AN EMERGENCY. They just don’t care!

Ever since I moved to the Homestead area I have always gone to Dr. Gilley for all my pets. It wasn’t since my dog Daisy years back was run over by a car and had a serious injury to her leg that I heard of English Plaza Animal Hospital. Dr. Gilley recommended me to take her to English Plaza and see Dr. Prosek for her surgery. Dr. Prosek was a great vet, he saved my dogs leg and life. Here they didnt seem to care for money but cared more in saving my dog (which I feel thats the number one priority vets should have). I always remembered this great experience for years to come and knew if I had a major emergency that Dr. Gilley couldn’t handle, I could always bring my dogs here to English Plaza where they would be taken care of. I continued to go to Gilley after that but since last year I decided to come to English Plaza Animal Hospital Instead. Don’t get me wrong, Gilley is an awesome vet but the Staff and the way English Plaza Animal Hospital is Run to me its waaaaay more organized and you have less wait times. Also, now that one of my dogs is older he needs more specialized treatments that Gilley just doesn’t have the equipment for. Dr. Prosek retired but the new vet Dr. Perales has the same heart towards animals that Dr. Prosek had. At least I never felt that he was stealing my money for no reason. He seems to care for the animal and try to keep costs down fpr the owner. They might be a bit more expensive than Dr. Gilley but this place has many good points rather than bad. 1. Staff is super friendly and they look like they really love animals and their job. My dogs are never afraid around them. Amber and Shayna greet you at the front with a smile. Victor, Luis, Gladys, Merrilyn, and Dr. Perales take care of your pet with all that’s needed. 2. You can make appointments, but walk ins are also welcome. 3. Very little wait time. 4. Clean office 5. Staff will call back a few days later to see how your pet is doing and make sure the treatment is working. 6. All operations my dogs have taken here have given good results, from Dr. Prosek to now Dr. Perales they are very professional in what they do. 7. If you need a refill in your dog prescription you can call ahead and they will call you back when medicine is ready for pickup. Overall this place has been good to my dogs Diesel, Logan and me so cant complain.
