Ive been a Christie Dental patient for eight years. They have redone my only crown three times in that time period. It now needs to be redone a fourth time. I dont know what they are doing wrong, but I do know my friends and family who have crowns are not constantly replacing them! I have seen Dr. Morris (crown 1 &2), Dr. Crawford (crown 3), and finally Dr. Shaw for the last time. Dr. Morris and Dr. Crawford I liked, not so much Dr. Shaw. Dr. Shaw hit some kind of a nerve when he gave me novicaine last time for my temporary crown. It was excruciating pain like Ive never felt before. It radiated along my jaw, up my face, and down my neck. It hurt worse than labor pains. I was completely incapacitated, screaming in pain. Instead of asking me if I was ok and apologizing, he berated me for making noise. He threatened to stop working on my tooth unless I was quiet. I had an exposed nerve from the crown falling off, and it was painfully sensitive to any stimulus. I hadnt eaten or drank much over the weekend due to discomfort. I needed the temporary crown to cover that exposed nerve ASAP. I was shaking like leaf and crying, but I managed to be silent throughout the rest of the process. He also didnt stick anymore nerves directly with his needle, which helped. I could chew with the first two crowns that Dr. Morris gave me. I was never able to chew with the crown Dr. Crawford did, despite returning multiple times to have the bite adjusted. Nor can I chew with the temporary crown Dr. Shaw did, and Ive had the bite adjusted with that. I think I may need a root canal based upon the extreme sensitivity to cold and the pain I have while chewing. I got the impression that Dr. Shaw didnt want to send me for the root canal because he didnt want to lose the crown business. Additionally, a filling they did on my front tooth just fell out after less than two years. Another reason Im leaving the practice is the billing. They always charge more than my insurance company pays, and I pay the balance while Im there. Then, a month or two later, I get hit with another substantial bill for the same service. This temporary crown is the latest. I paid $128.00 at the time of the visit, and then a couple of months later I received a bill for $184.00. Ive lost faith in their technical expertise; and they are suspiciously reluctant to give a referral. I think their billing practices are deceptive, and Dr. Shaw scares me. I dont recommend them.

Why are no stars a thing yet? I took my son to Christie Dental and will NEVER return. When I first made the appointment I was feeling great about it. I spoke to Shawna who was very attentive and answered all of my questions and got questions I didnt know answered by her manager. She offered me a great deal on having my son seen since we have state Medicaid and they dont accept it. My husband wanted me to find someone who was able to accept the insurance since funds are extremely tight. This however was easier said than done. I arrived twenty minutes early to the appointment to fill out paper work and was greated by an older lady with a blonde hair who must be very new in her job. After filling out paper work, this individual told me they would be right with me. Thirty minutes later I was taking back and had a pleasant experience with the doctor. Im glad my child was going to be okay. When checking out I was told my total was $205! This was not what Shawna had told me. She told me that because I had insurance they didnt take it would be $39. I argued with the blonde lady who at this point didnt tell me her name, and she was insistent that I would never be told I could use this special as its for individuals and families with no insurance. I asked to speak with Shawna and was floored by the response of this lady. "Im Dawn the practice manager here and I make the rules, if you have insurance even if we dont accept it we can not honor a new patient special" I placed this charge on my credit card and cringed. All I could think about was not being able to eat next weeek because I was lied to. How does a manager say at one point they can honor the special cost then when it comes down to it tell me no?

To Whom It May Concern, My name is Barbara Schuchard and I was employed by Christie Dental for about a year before being wrongfully terminated. I chose to stay quiet until I read another employees review, and determined it would be best for me to shine a light on my experience as well. I was informed I could not return to work until I was able to produce a medical excuse for being absent for two days of work. American Dental Partners indicates an excuse is required after three days. I returned to work on the third day and was informed by Dawn Tatum that I needed to leave until I could produce an excuse. When I was able to return to Ocala to get documentation on my dads hospitalization and return to work approximately 48 hours later, I was informed by Dawn I had been terminated for abandoning my job. I have reached out to the Director of Christie Dental Jeff Rolling in the past and never received a response. There are others that Dawn has done this to as well. I will reach out to them to let them know this is an outlet to tell their situations. Thank You, Barbara Schuchard

Unfair and unjust employers who set their confidence in a manager who harasses employees. Dawn Tatum hired me, under false pretenses and continues to harass me. Ive emailed Kevin Texler who I found was the CEO of American Dental Partners and this has gone unresolved. Im receiving phone calls from Dawns personal line, and continuing to be harassed. I will be taking this over to the bbb to see what rights I have as a past employee. Dawn has also gone as far to tell my new employer that I was a employee that had falsified my resume. My new employer thought it was strange based on my resume and our conversation and has given me a chance. This is against Florida Law. Maybe Dawn lied on her resume and is trying to tell others I lied to cover herself. I still feel bad for the employees she picks on.

I am very shocked at what I had witnessed on Friday at this office as I was waiting for a friend who is a patient there. I am making this public since I was told there was no corporate office I could call and talk to but I could speak to a manger. I was almost sure the person in question was the manager of that office. As I was waiting on my friend in the waiting room a older blonde hair lady walked to the front and was yelling that no one respected her and this was ridiculous. My heart honestly breaks for the employees that work with this frantic lady. If she acts like this with in front of a waiting room of patients I can only imagine how it is behind closed doors.

I love Christie Dental of Merritt Island. Britney at the front desk is always so helpful and informative. Very sweet and accommodating and knows all the ins and outs of the dental office and insurance. I always schedule my cleanings with Lauren she is so sweet and gentle and my teeth always feel amazing afterwards. Dr. Morris is so funny and caring. Ive never had any issues with pain under his care. He does a great job I came in originally with a lot of problems with my teeth and hes taken care of all of them. Overall I love going there and thats saying a lot coming from someone with dental anxiety.
