This was by far the worst experience I have ever had a vet. I dont usually write reviews, but I feel in this case it is absolutely necessary. I just moved to the area and was trying to find a new vet for my two kittens. An appointment was made in which my kitten was to have surgery. When I arrived I was told they would not do the surgery because it was too early (even when they knew my kittens birth date before we came in.) I was also told because my kitten was scheduled for surgery, I would not be charged for an initial appointment (what some vets make you do when you bring a new patient.) My kittens are also indoor and very healthy; however, one of them had a little bit of wax in his ears I asked to be cleaned. The doctor then asked me if I had my indoor kittens on heartworm medicine which my previous doctor told me was not necessary. I said no, and declined the expensive Pfizer medication which he later demanded I needed to protect my kitten’s ears from ear mites. When he was making my bill, he asked me what my husband did. I told him I was not married then he said he would not charge me for the $40 ear cleaning. I thanked him, even though $40 dollars for taking a cotton ball and cleaning my kitten’s ears was unduly expensive. In the end, I walked out with $150 dollars worth of unnecessary medication, about $100 for the initial visit I should not have been charged for because "I was supposed to have surgery" along with the $40 charge for the ear cleaning the doctor later said "he never said". This veterinarian only cares about money, not the care of your cat and this was made apparent when he wanted to know what my husband did (or how much money I had to give him) before he created my bill. He also made my surgery appointment knowing my kitten wasnt old enough. The whole experience, included the unhelpful staff, was a disaster! Lastly, the doctor is older and not up to date on new treatments. This was made clear by the wonderful vet I now use. If you value your pet, your money, and want a friendly vet, do not go to the University Vet Clinic!

I took my cat there for the first time since our family vet there passed away two years ago. She is a beautiful 16 year old long hair who I take for shots and a bath and grooming of her back end so that it stays clean. When I picked her up she was completely shaven!!!!!!!!!! They said it was a MISUNDERSTANDING. When a cat is completely shaven three other vets told me today there are many many questions that get asked about the style legnth all of that. My poor old cat hasnt come out from under the bed all night is very very cold and shaky and I am so afraid that after a wonderful life and still so healthy this is going to kill her! I dont know what to do. NEVER GO THERE. They also tried before this happened to tell me in order to remove her loose tooth they found they would have to put her under anestheisa for 1300 plus dollars and I confirmed there are many other solutions at her age!!!!!

I have read the other reviews long ago, and although each is entitled to their own opinion, I believe that objectively they couldnt be more wrong. These people are the best. From each veterinarian to all staff, they are like family but with professional knowledge and procedure on their side. Been going here over 30 years, and they truly care more than any veterinary I have ever known. They know what to do from the little to the big problems. Id NEVER go anywhere else unless I had to by location.

I am so sorry to hear about the others bad experiences. I have not met anyone at VCA University Clinic that was named Dr. Jackson either. Everyone at VCA University Clinic off Braddock has been wonderful to me and our cat. The doctors I have encountered so far are Dr. Watson and Dr. Swieter. Both have been very professional and gracious. The office staff is very professional and friendly and warm. I am very satisfied.

We found Dr. Jackson to be nice but you will be gouged on the fees. The fees they charge for dog antibiotics are truly outrageous. We have bought these frequently from other vets but he charges much more for the same meds and same dosages. Call around if you need meds for your dog. We did like Dr. Jackson until he tried to shaft us.

I am always able to get an appointment when needed and the staff is super helpful. They love my dog and always take great care of her. I have been coming here my whole life and my mother came here before me. A+++ Dr. Jackson was the best!

The staff was caring and friendly! The doctor was very kind. Would give it a 5 star rating, if it werent for the long wait times.
