I was going to give this a 3 but bumped it down to a 2 after i visited a DIFFERENT vet that was NOT employed by Banfield. I have a dachshund, 11 months now. I picked Banfield (despite the horrible rating) because overall I think theyre puppy plan is great for vaccines and first time owners that freak out about everything. I had a vet, Dr. Kellner, she was pretty good, she moved soon after I picked Banfield. Then Ive been jumping around their vets because I didnt like any of them. Dr. Care makes me feel like my own thoughts are harmful to the dog. She does not recommend anything that isnt buying from the store (such as giving your dog apple splices as treats). Dr. Jones (who is new) made me feel like I was harming my dog by switching him to a raw meat diet and that I was going to get myself and my boyfriend sick from it (Ive done the research and talked to many people. Raw meat diet is a growing diet with solid research to back it up). She did not run tests on my pups bad breath (which is the reason why i came in), she just blamed it on his diet, told me to switch, & left. She did mentioned that he has 2 baby teeth that need to be extracted. I was told $200. When I went to set up an appt., they had to call me back to give me a quote (?) then I was told to upgrade my plan to $40 a month and pay $330, or pay close to $700 without the plan. So i went elsewhere because I know it should not be that expensive. I called Gaithersburg Vet Clinic and after receiving a quote, I took him into an exam. At the end of the exam, the new vet diagnosed my pup with Luxating Patella. She really took her time with the exam and even checked things Ive never seen vets at Banfield check. I did some research about it and realize my pup has had this 5-6 months ago. Why did no one at Banfield catch this? Thankfully the new vet did. I will continue to return to her and leave Banfield. The new vet also was very respectable about my raw meat diet, she gave me websites and vet nutritionist info that will help me ensure my pup is eating a well balanced diet and she even ASKED me if it was okay if she fed my pup a milk bone treat (since he is on a raw meat diet); how respectable ! I think Banfield is fine when it comes to shots and very basic care. But, they can be very closed minded and rude.

Banfield is decent if you are looking for relatively cheap and convenient services for your pup but dont expect them to do an EXCELLENT job (If you want excellent, go to Village Vet of Urbana). We paid for the puppy pro plan which is convenient for our family and the pup since it includes the neuter and other stuff for less than $600. However, I rate this location one star because of the attitude of the people who work there and that the vet does not know much about the plans or whats going on... I also question how much she knows about puppies (maybe she is new?). Our 9 week old pup had worms we could actually see in his feces so we took him to get a check up and deworming. The vet tech was super rude and relentless when i told her the pup had already been weighed 2 times by different people in the last 5 minutes but insisted she weigh him again and complained that he was moving on the scale (still got the same weight every time), and then rolled her eyes when i asked about the plans when she came in the check up room. The vet gave the deworming medication ("2 doses to get rid of them faster"-not sure if thats safe or not-) and told us we would get a call in a couple days after they see the fecal sample. Today, 16 days later, we finally got a call from the vet saying there were never any worms (even though we could visibly see them moving in the poop). This doesnt make sense because I called them yesterday and the receptionist told me they were roundworms. WHAT? then she told me the plan included 2 dewormings, i corrected her that it was 4, she came back on the phone and said, "Youre right, it is 4. You know more about this stuff than I do". I shouldnt know more about the plan (or anything else regarding animals) than you do, thats why we go to you and pay you.

Not military friendly. DO NOT GO HERE. My husband needed to add my name to the rabies certificate so I can take our dog to our next duty station. When he made the request the first time, their staff member told him its not possible because she doesnt know how, plus its a legal document. So he believed them. The second time he called to make the same request (because it turned out theres no restrictions on adding a name), their staff member managed to add my name by hyphenating it to my husbands last name, BUT the vet that gave my dog the rabies vaccine is no longer with them and thus his signature will be missing. So the new rabies certificate wouldnt be up to the pet documentation requirement anyway. The only choice I had left was to use the original certificate we have and hope for the best. Of course, that didnt work. My dog was denied entrance, and therefore I have to cancel my flight, and tell my husband that I wont be able to come home to him until the paperwork is sorted out, which could take a while. I still dont know when Ill be able to come home. If Banfield didnt lie to us in the first place on why they cant add my name on the rabies certificate, our dog and I would be home already with my husband. He has been waiting for us in a foreign country. Weve been apart a total of 6 months just this year and still counting. In this case, Banfield is the reason why this military family is being kept apart. They will have a lot of explaining to do to my military community and the people that will be working on my case. Banfield has caused irreversible hardships to a soldier and his family because of their dishonesty and incompetent staff. Also, their services were expensive and mediocre at best. Youre better off going elsewhere anyway.

Was there For awhile@ this location for my two pups..one a service dog. They have do much turn over...I left due to that! Thro paid my bill last week since in the store shopping....I was trying to pay on time...the desk person made it hard...even she & the supv for the nite go in the back room to discuss it with door closed. She returned....thro i walked around the front of store till she got back...she completed my transaction. I left.. .my cell phone wasnt with me while I was in the car ..I was quite alert with my cell while there in the store. I was going home but stopped in the the gas station; I was there earlier... my cell wasnt there. I called Banfield....they had it....I even called my cell a few times earlier...no one answered it! I also have a picture of my service dog....which they would have seen holding my cell...interesting!!!! I was quite suspension...even when i asked where did you find it! She didnt answer..I called & asked another person later the next day if she could find out...! It took a week...then she(Dr. Thompson.)was blaming me!!!! Saying Im the Only One who has problems with the front desk. Shes been there only 3 months she says. Ive stopped taking my dogs since August 2016. Only paid my bill last wk.2/2017. Told her I left after a few years coming due to the front desks customer service uncomfortable professionalism. So..... Looking at other surveys....I DONT THINK SO!!! Ck. Out their ratings more 1
