had some very expensive work done on my teeth a few years ago(2005) at Dr. Michelsons office on Alafaya. The office staff is very nice and the place really is nice on the inside of the building. The work they did looked really good even though it was very expensive. (Actually some of the highest priced work on your teeth in town.) So I moved to the other side of town back in 2008 and changed dentist because it was too far to go to them. I continued to take great care of my teeth(you dont pay $5,000 for two Veneers if you dont plan on taking good care of your teeth.) and go to the dentist every six months and watch what I ate of course. I was eating a sandwich last week and all of a sudden I look up and my Veneer has fallen out of my mouth and is gone! This Veneer was supposed to last for 50 years and had fallen out without warning. I had a big event at work the next day and obviously was in a panic. My mouth looked very bad and I was so upset that I might have to pay AGAIN for something I really paid top dollar for and then took great care of. So I called the office and got the emergency number because they were closed(even though it was Friday at 10am). I left a message and got a call back from the office manager names Krista...who is also the wife of the Dr. Michelson who owns the place. I told Krista my dielema and told her I was worried about this tooth when they put it on because it took a few times to have it stay in place. I also assured her that I had taken good care of it and felt like it should not have fallen off. I also told her that I hope they can do something to "work with me" because I have a big event tomorrow and also dont really have the kind of money I had a few years ago when I spent over $5000 at their office. Her response to me was nothing short of insulting and unprofessional. She cut me off and said that is "too bad about your tooth, but you need to know right now that you will not be getting a discount of any sort at our place!" She then said the ultimate condesending thing to me that a paying customer who just got ripped off wants to hear. "We all have tough times right now buddy!" This coming from the rich wife of the doctor than runs the place and bought her BMW with the cash from customers like me. So after she said this I gave her a few choice words(because I was so hurt and insulted) and told her that I was going to consider litagation against her and her overpriced dentists office. She said "you do what you gotta do!" and then said "you live on a different side of town and dont even come to us anymore so you need to take your business elsewhere!". She told me her assistant office manager was standing right next to her so this is obviously how they train their staff to deal with clients who have problems after spending big money and not being pleases with the results. I am not going to sue them, not my style. But I am going to follow through with what I told them which is that I am going to tell my story so others dont get ripped off by them like I feel like I did. *How could they not have SOME sympathy and compassion on me after I spent all that money? *How could they not be willing to stand behind their work after charging that much money? * How could they start out by telling me they would not honor their work WITHOUT EVEN SEEING ME OR ASKING ME WHAT HAPPENED????? I have never wrote a bad review about a business in my life. I am not a complainer or someone who makes trouble for people. But I must tell anyone looking for a good dentist this place will rip you off if you get in trouble later. And that attitude come directly from the owners family itself. In this economy we have to find places that are not going to waste our money and take advantage of us; and places that think of us as more than just another dollar coming through the door. This dentist is not one of those places.

CHECK WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY BEFORE YOU MAKE THE APPOINTMENT! Before my appointment I had called the office to see if they accepted my insurance. They sure did, however, the receptionist informed me that I would have to pay the expenses out of pocket. Okay, that is no problem. She informed me the the examination would be $99 dollars and that is all. She did not mention any other prices that I would have to pay out of pocket....seems reasonable, my insurance will reimburse me later. I make the trip to the office, the doctor and staff were great, friendly and thorough. After my x-rays, one of the staff members informed me that I have to pay an ADDITIONAL $110.00 dollars for the cleaning. Why couldnt the receptionist explain to me in DETAIL that the exam(x-rays) is $99 and then the cleaning is a separate $110?? (...bait and switch maybe?) I was in complete sticker shock! I could not believe it. I told the staff member that I was told it would only be $99 dollars for the exam, which I thought included both x-rays and the cleaning. Why couldnt they be more detailed? What does the average patient know about dentistry? Really? After seeing how shaken up I was, the staff member apologized and told me that their patients get reimburse all the time. So I caved in and got the cleaning (which I shouldnt of for the price they were charging me). The cleaning went well; however, to be honest, the whole pricing ordeal RUINED my experience at the office. All in all, the service is great however, I would not recommend coming here if you are on a budget. Go to a location that will USE your insurance benefits RIGHT ON THE SPOT. Rather than filing it and hoping that your insurance will pay you the full amount (and no, they will not reimburse you the entire amount, I promise). With the medical billing that this office is doing, the doctor is getting A LOT MORE MONEY charging the patient up front, rather than what the insurance is giving him.

My journey for a better looking smile began with Dr. Michaelson and his Team at Alafaya Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr Michaelson was no stranger to me, because I used to go to him many years ago when he and his wife Christina worked for Orange Dental. Knowing his expertise and experience made the decision a no brainier. He recommended "six months smiles" an innovative approach to braces in just a short period of time to help straighten out the years of over crowded teeth I had to deal with. Other dentists could only offer me long term braces and I simply couldnt commit. In only 5 months my teeth trasistioned enough to put some beautiful porcelain veneers on them and the end result was simply amazing. Dr Michaelson and his entire staff make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is comfortable and they have to be the only provider that offers comforts such as a blanket, headphones, heated neck pillow, all of which I have taken full advantage of. Today, they exceeded my expectations. My son is leaving to join the Air Force, and he realized he needed a back up retainer, should something happen to the one he has. Not only did Ivette find a time slot to fit him in, they delivered the retainer the same day! Talk about impressive! Then, to my surprise, they gifted me with a beautiful basket of sumptuous bath and beauty goods as a way of thanking me for being patient during the transistion process. Who provides service like this anymore? They do! My deepest gratitude to Dr Michaelson, Christine, Ivette, Kristy, Nikki, and Deanna for youre superb service and outstanding results. I will be a patient for life and you can bet on referrals! Sincerely, Theresa Sparks
