I was very disappointed in the care my 97 year old father received. So much so that I decided to bring him home again since he was not being cared for properly. I had to call the director of nursing quite a few times to get the staff to provide my Dad with the care he needed. The staff in this facility are supposed to be geriatric specialists, especially when you are dealing with dementia patients, however, if I did not ask for changes in my Dads care, there were nothing coming forth from the specialists here. The last straws came when my husband came at dinner time and found my Dad licking on ice cream while the staff who was supposed to be helping my Dad with dinner was watching his TV. Another incident involved another member the their staff who lifted my Dad on a machine even though I told her he was not in the machine properly. She lifted him anyway causing my Dad to scream in pain as he was hanging on that machine. I told her to let him down immediately and that was it for me with these people. I brought him home.

This is a horrible place. They moved by mom to the dementia ward. And she is not even that bad she knows my voice when I call her on the phone. She gets the grand-kids mixed up, but she is no where near full blown dementia. I wish I could post the pictures of my mom laying in the bloody sheets and how bad her arms look. It is Memorial Day and she is a vet, I being treated like a piece of meat by the CNAs out at Sims.

Understaffed the doctors running this facility do not feel they need to communicate with family only "see" patient after dark usually on the mid night shift. Staff nurses and CNA do not get the credit they deserve. Communications major problem from top to bottom. I am a veteran and will never be in this facility or any other state run VA nursing home. Appearances can and are deceiving.

Great place, they have taken wonderful care of my father in the dentin unit. The place is immaculate and staff are very friendly and they keep us informed of everything that happens with my dad.
