The good: * Fast and friendly service * Convenient for GA Tech students * Good dental hygeinists The bad: * Inexperienced dentists * Dentists are rushed * Dentists will recommend unnecessary fillings * Disorganized billing I was using Tech Dentistry for routine cleanings. At one visit, they recommended 4 fillings, so I came in to have two of them done. They did, but the dentist felt rushed the whole time. After the fillings, I had pain in one of the teeth they worked on. I came back in, and they tried to "polish" the filling so that the shape was better. That did not fix it, so I came in again, and they tried doing the same thing, which made it worse. They recommended trying to replace the filling, but I decided that I was going to visit a more experienced dentist. It turns out that there is a crack in the tooth, and although they likely did not cause it, they failed to catch it. The experienced dentist did replace the filling because the shape of the filling was not right (probably from rushed and inexperienced dentists). The other two fillings Tech Dentistry recommended were completely unnecessary, and since I had already used my maximum allowed benefits on the Student Blue plan, 100% of the cost for that work was going to come out of my pocket. Months later, I received a notice from a collections agency to collect a debt from this work, but I never received a bill from them and I thought it was paid. I called to find out what I was being billed for, but they dont talk to people with delinquent accounts. I called the collections agency, but they can only tell me the date services were rendered. I had to call my insurance company to find out what I was being billed for. It looks like I owe the money, which is fine, but I would have preferred it if they told me that instead of wasting hours of my time trying to find out if it was even a valid charge. Most people have a fine experience here, but mine was very different. If you want your teeth done right the first time, and if you dont have time to deal with the occasional billing nightmare, find a more experienced dentist.

I scheduled an appointment with them last month and got an assessment done on my teeth. One of my tooth (tooth 5) required filling, and they also suggested that another tooth which was filled previously by another dentist is not correct and that filling needs to removed and refilled. I declined their recommendations for improper filled tooth and just went ahead with normal filling in tooth 5. During the filling, dentist said that she is also going to correct the other tooth and quickly did something to it claiming that it would be floss that area. Since that day I have been feeling a cavity in that old tooth and it feels different than normal. Although the filling in tooth 5 is perfect (and hence 2 stars for that) my other tooth is giving me concern. I went there again today for this complain and dentist declined to accept that she did something that is now making me feel uncomfortable on that tooth and said that its "my perception" that has changed. She claimed that she cannot correct it just by touching. If thats the case then why did she touch it in the first place. I had never asked for it. When I asked to compare the X-ray now and before she operated it, she declined to do a new x-ray and instead just took a camera picture and kept comparing the two. Camera picture shows nothing different between the two but then camera picture is useless in these regions anyways. Very disappointed especially as I had bought their special yearly dental plan. Would definitely not recommend it for anyone not already stuck there. Update: Went there again and think the staff is great and fast. They are good at the job so increasing my rating. Willing to disregard the last incident as one off thing.

At first it seemed as if they were more interested in taking pictures and x-rays of my teeth than they were about looking at them. Like a teenager in an art museum who snaps pictures of everything and doesnt take time to actually look at the art. The hygienist was very complementary of my brushing. I didnt know before that you can tell if someone takes care of their teeth by repeatedly poking the gums above and below each tooth with the needle-sharp dental pick. Apparently, even though my tooth care looked good to the hygienist, the dentist was not impressed. Maybe if I had lied and told her that I do floss (I dont) she wouldnt have diagnosed me with a cavity. Which is the main reason Im giving them a review, and why I follow them on Google+. (Because apparently Google+ is still a thing, and because I like to see pictures of peoples teeth every Sunday. I mean, I would if I ever looked at Google+). When you follow them on Google+ and leave a review, you get $50 off your next treatment. In my case, filling a cavity. My Georgia Tech insurance people tell me that the full cost should be covered. The ladies at Tech Dentistry say it wont. Im not sure who to believe yet, so Im filling out this review to get $50 just in case. The TVs are nice. They would be nicer if there was anything to watch on daytime TV. Update: I got my cavity filled today. Everyone was nice and accommodating like the first appointment, and the filling went well. The Google Review paid for the cost that apparently I would have been responsible for. Moral of the story: Going to the dentist sucks. These guys arent bad if you have insurance.

I was excited to find a dentist so close to work so decided to give Tech Dentistry a try. It took over an hour just to get the x-rays done as some took multiple attempts. I heard the hygienist discussing with others that they have needed a new sensor for weeks. I generally don’t have any issues at the dentist but she was very rough and after scratching my mouth multiple times I told her we needed to stop. We then went into a survey including asking me about my smile and to rate how I felt about me teeth. I guess this must be to gauge your interest in other products/revenue streams. She then started to examine my gums and was again very rough. I floss daily but she was able to find a few 4 or 5s in the back. I am not surprised she had some bleeding considering how hard she was probing the gum line. Next was the up sale on the “deep” cleaning. I started to question the gum reading since they were so different then my previous dentist. The hygienist then went and got an admin who asked if I was upset. I explained the reading were very different from my previous dentist and was curious about such a quick decay in gum heath. She then got the dentist who did a 30 second examination of my mouth and said there much be some trust issues. I just wanted some better explanation before agreeing to an up sale procedure. I decided it would be best to leave before they charged my insurance further since I was not feeling comfortable. I have never left a dentist/doctor before completing the intended procedure. I was very disappointed in the service and would not recommend them at all.

I had a terribly awful experience at Tech Dentistry. That is, compared to my visit not so long ago at FeatherTouch Dentistry in Midtown Atlanta (FeatherTouch are EXCELLENT!). The doctor at Tech Dentistry was very rushed. While the doctor was checking for cavities she poke my mouth with one of the medical tool, like she wasnt carefully looking at what her hands were doing. The doctor wasnt good at the camera to take pictures of the teeth so she called a nurse and she started pulling hard on my cheeks and telling me to open wider (which hurt) and then the nurse says what am i even looking for? They didnt connect the suction machine so I had to swallow my saliva often and she wasnt getting a clear view of my teeth on the camera. Once I was finished I went to the receptionist and she wanted to send me away without even consulting the treatment plan with me, she said if she could just email it to me, and didnt ask me if i had any questions. I told her I would wait because I wanted to be able to ask questions since I already came all the way to the dentist. They were so busy and I could not even schedule an appointment within the next 6 months. The they put me in a canceling appointment list, which they would bump me up to an earlier date as students cancel their appointments. Overall I would not come here if my insurance would not cover it. Yet the Gatech student insurance only covers $500 per year which is not much at all. I am seriously considering going elsewhere and paying a little more for the customer service, greater care, and a job well done.
