We had an elderly family cat. She was getting underweight and I was concerned. My regular vet couldnt get her in until the weekend, so I took her to Oak Village Animal Hospital to hopefully help ease my mind. My cat experiences anxiety during vet visits and I did my best to keep her calm, but the Oak Village Animal Hospital didnt do much to make to accommodate my cat. The vet techs and the vet treated her very roughly. After the exam the vet then gave me his best guess as to what was wrong with her and started her on medication. When her test results came back a few days later, nothing indicated the problem the vet was treating her for. In fact, the medication he was making me give her resulted in my cat having random diarrhea accidents throughout the house. I confronted the vet who still insisted my cat needed to be medicated for a problem that didnt exist. He was very condescending--I understand he went to veterinarian school, I wasnt insulting his intelligence, but the tests did not confirm his original diagnosis. It took another in office visit and two phone calls to get him to consider any other diagnosis. He started my cat on another medication and insisted on a follow up appointment. I did not like this vet, their staff, their insistence on medicating my cat. I spent hundreds of dollars. I feel like they played off my fears that my elderly cat might be suffering, or worse dying, and attempted to bleed my checking account dry. I went back to our regular vet, guess what my vets diagnosis is--shes getting old. All the trauma, medication, and hundreds of dollars and there was nothing at all wrong with my cat other than she was getting old.

Worst experience ever..basically the doctor caused me lost my last chance to spend some precious time with my cat..since a month ago, I noticed that my cat isnt behave well and having diarrhea all the time. So I decided to bring her to a vet..my worst decision ever..I brought her to this clinic instead of driving back to champaign to visit her primary care doctor..so I went to Oak Village Animal Hospital..After the doctor knew my concern and situation, he didnt really do any check for my cat..he just told me that maybe my cat is having allergy to some kind of food and I need to change a diet for her..and he said we will use 1 month to do this experiment and see how it goes..I kept asking him then why does my cat defecate everywhere and didnt behave normally..the doctor couldnt give me any answer and just said maybe that was due to the food allergy (food allergy > no enough nutrient > brain not function/develop well > having weird behavior)... After all this..I waited to see how my cat feel and if there is any changes..I started being more and more worried..after 2weeks, which is Monday (8/15/16), I decided to bring her back to champaign and do a legit test for her from her primary care..long story short..all the symptoms show that my cat has FIVP..and it was her last day yesterday.. I am so mad because I lost the last moments with my cat due to the poor diagnosis. Look elsewhere for better vets.

This is absolutely the BEST veterinary clinic Ive ever been to. Dr. Bowen is wonderful, and hes been taking care of my cats and dogs for over 20 years. Aside from being an extremely knowledgeable, competent, and highly skilled vet, he is also compassionate, kind, and fully devoted to his furry clients and their owners. Thanks to him my animals have lived long, happy, and healthy lives. It is also a very affordable clinic, compared to others. Theyre great in emergency situations, and always make time for their patients when needed. You wont find a better vet anywhere else.
