I have never been so disgusted with any hospital as this one. I am within a distance from my husband who is a patient there so our next best way is on the phone and if he can get on his tablet. It does not matter what time of day I have tried calling and no one answers any phones. Then to have a nurse paged, forget it. I realize she may be with a patient but come on, you do not even return any of my calls. Just as this morning I called to see how he is and "finally" a nurse Dawn answers and asked, "what do you want?" Told her to find out how my husband is. Said he is doing good. That is no way to answer being a nurse or anyone in the medical field. I asked about his therapy and she told me she does not know anything about it; that she would have his other nurse call me back. The call me back never happened. Today went by and I called back to see how my husband is doing. Finally, again Dawn and she again said what do you want to know? I want to know how my husband is doing? She said you already asked me that this morning. There is no sense in trying to get any info from these so called employees or anyone to answer their phone. Even the patient advocate does not answer and you have to leave and message and guess what? They do not return your calls. This place is only a 69 bed and from what I gather upon site, the do not care. One more thing. My husb has a roomy, fine and the phone is shared. I asked for his room and the nurse gets on the phone. I ask for my husb and she said "this is Daves phone." I do not know what you call this but I am so upset and angry. I highly do not recommend this Kindred Hosp to anyone. you would be making a huge mistake. PURE RUDENESS. I do not want to give them any kind of star whatsoever.

This hospital killed my father. He had COPD and pneumonia and due to being on a ventilator for weeks, the hospital he was at which was Saint Josephs in Bloomington, Illinois decided to give him tracheostomy. He was getting so much better and the hospital and my grandmother decided that my father needed to go to a hospital that specialized in trachs and respiratory care. So my father ended up at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois. Within ONLY days of being there my father had lost the majority of his muscle mass and looked like a skeleton. He fell out of his bed which they failed to notify us, a nurse accidentally let it slip, They used latex bandaids on him when we specifically told them that hes alergic to them numerous times. He even had a sign in his room that was very noticable. He also contracted two infections, one bacterial and one fungal. The bacterial infection that he caught was from a cut on his foot he got when he fell out of his bed! and when we were accidentally notified about the fall TWO DAYS later the cut was still dirty and had not been clean! His trach was also FILTHY. The Sepsis(bacterial infection) that my dad caught from this hospitals POOR CARE killed him. ALSO they called my grandma two months later asking to speak to my dad about his billing! It should be in their records that he died in their hospital! DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!

Miracles Happens Here! I had unfortunate health issues never experienced before. As an RN, I helped many patients reading, training and learning different activities. What they were actually experiencing was not the same as actually experiencing it by you, now that I am affected with lost physical abilities – being “trapped” in my body – this has been a harrowing experience. I went in for back surgery, which was successful, but two days later I stood at deaths door. CCU and ICU at Kishwaukee Hospital stabilized me and sent me to Kindred Hospital for further healing. Words will never be enough to describe the flawless and wonderful attention I was receiving here! Everyone from Doctors, Aides and nurses; all tirelessly brought me to my healing and wellness. Everyone truly took sincere interest in my restoration. The Rehab department encouraged me, pushed me, challenged me, and improvement compounded to the point where I now advance (with excitement) that I really will be back to my old self. It is with utmost praise to this facility and their wonderful caring skills. I am humbly grateful and blessed to have experienced what talented, caring staff can accomplish. If anyone I know is in need of a facility to provide for their needs, I’ll ring all bells and whistles that here is where magic happens!

I completed my clinical internship in speech-language pathology (SLP) at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore in March, 2014. The rehabilitation team working under RehabCare are great. The direct of rehabilitation, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and SLPs work together to help their patients recover as fast as possible. I felt comfortable asking questions and learned new things everyday from other healthcare professional at Kindred. Medically fragile patients receive top quality care and attention, because the hospital is small and there is good communication between staff, family, and patients. I worked closely with the radiology department completing videofluoroscopic swallow studies, which helped assess when patients could start safely eating again. The rehabilitation technicians are a tremendous help moving patients around the facility and are invaluable team members. I was able to really get to know the patients and the staff well, because of the family-like atmosphere. I highly recommend Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, because I had a fantastic clinical experience that prepared me well to provide speech-language/swallowing assessment and treatment.

This hospital was the WORST experience for my cousin. The place is very DISGUSTING and OLD. Everything is outdated. The staff are UNPROFESSIONAL and LAZY. They dont really care about the patients. They dont really like for the patients to have visitors because they dont want to be exposed for the HORRIBLE services that they are providing. My cousins room was extremely cold as if the heat wasnt on. He had to complain several times before they turned the heat up. The purpose of him going to Kindred Hospital was to receive better care. But his health has declined since being in this hospital. This was a stressful time for him. He didnt get any rest, and he didnt really eat anything because they had a very poor selection of food. We ended up having him voluntarily discharged from this pathetic place. I strongly recommend that anyone who is considering this hospital, do research on the place first. I will be filing a complaint on behalf of my cousin as soon as possible.

I would never recommend Kindered Hospital to anyone. The doctors and most nurses (there are only a handful that actually care about your family member) are VERY rude. Your loved one is treated like a room number verses a person. My mom was in their ICU for 10 days. Her room was directly in front of the nurses station. Not once during that time did a day nurse come to speak to me on their own. I had to always approach them to get an update on my mom. There were a lot of days I could not even find the nurse to get an update. As for the doctors - the only day any of them EVER talked with me was the day my mom was dying. Even then they were rude. I will always live with the regret of sending my mom here. She left this world in a place that has very little respect and compassion for the patient and their families.
