Dermatology Associates was not my first choice, but the dermatologist at the clinic where my primary physician is, was not available until November. I didnt want to wait until then, so my clinic referred me to Dermatology Associates. There were some pros and cons: The cons: I was surprised that I wasnt required to fill in my medical history. This is something quite normal for a first-time visit to a new clinic. I felt that the doctor wasnt all that interested in the fact that I had had Hodgkins lymphoma in 1972 and lots of other medical procedures since then. Another con: I waited over an hour to see the doctor. I realise that doctors these days are quite busy but an apology from the staff for the long wait would have been appreciated. I also was not made aware of the cost of the biopsy. I dont think that the patient should ask for this information; it should be given at the outset, even if insurance covers some or all of it. The pros: The doctor and staff were very professional and pleasant. The clinic was very clean and parking was not a problem. The removal of two moles was painless and very quick, although the mole that had the biopsy done on it is still oozing and a little painful after more than a week. I dont consider this a "con" but I was told to apply Vaseline and it did nothing. Im now applying Neosporin as a last resort, with a cotton bandage and cloth tape. (Im happy to report that the mole was benign). I suppose I would go back to Dermatology Associates if i had to, because of the fact that I can never manage to see the dermatologist at the clinic Im a patient of on short notice, plus they were very professional and knowledgeable in their field.

Dr. Iyengar is pleasant and efficient. However, I have never, and I mean never, gone to Dermatology Associates without having to wait at least 1/2 hour in the waiting room. It is usually more like 45 minutes, even when I get the "first appointment after lunch." No one bothers to give the patient an idea of how long theyll be stuck waiting. With the loud daytime programming from those TVs that almost every medical practice inflicts on their patients now, I cant even do any work or read in the waiting room. Please, Dermatology Associates, place more value on your patients time. Many of us work just like you do. In the most recent instance Ieft work to stop by Dermatology Associates for a wound check. I was told I would "get right in." I guess a half hour wait is their idea of "getting right in." Plan to take plenty of time off of work if you are employed. There is seldom an apology or explanation offered for excessive waits. If I have to wait that long, I at least want to be asked if I want to continue waiting or reschedule. Apparently they are not interested in making a more realistic schedule or checking on how backlogged they are and informing those who are waiting. Very inconsiderate of the patients time. As for the physician assistants, some good, some not so good. One could not see an AK on my face until I pointed it out to her. They should be able to identify these things without having to be shown exactly where it is. Also, one PA wanted to remove a spot on my lower calf. I declined. Later found out from a dermatologist from a different office that it did not need to be removed.

My experience with the front desk on all my visits have been less than pleasant. I have never experienced such incompetency in my life!!! They are terribly disorganized and border line rude. My last visit this pass Saturday was awful (in comparison to my first) which was also horrible. They had no idea who I was on my 3rd visit and tried to stick me with another, note another, $40 office visit, when it was clear I was there for cosmetic treatment. After my treatment, they charged me the fee and after that wanted to charge me another $100 saying I had to pay in advance for the next treatment in a month. I have a Credit Care credit card and asked why didnt they just apply it or charge the entire amount. Why did i say that? It was an ugly stare and then the woman looked at the other woman like I said something foreign. To be honest, if it were not for Trina and her assistant, I would find another company. I honestly dont want to deal with that front desk again.

Let me start by saying that I do not believe that one person represents an entire staff. I came to this office concerned that I may have Psoriasis of the Nail and therefore Psoriatic Arthritis. I was treated very well by the receptionist and any other staff I came into contact with, and I think perhaps the other doctors here are ok. The physicians assistant I saw (Ms. Ovando) was in the room for approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds. In that short time she 1) did NOT examine my nails, just a brief glance and 2) managed to make me feel like it was my fault my nails are weird. Thank God I know my body well enough to find a rheumatologist. Turns out I have severe Psoriatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis with joint damage. If I had let Ms. Ovandos attempt to dismiss me as a lunatic who has somehow mutilated a few of my own nails stop me I would be VERY sick VERY soon. I would highly recommend seeing a different provider at this office. They cant be as bad.

Some of these doctors are never time. Expect to wait minimum of an hour and as long as 2. Its the same story, they always say "hes behind today" but its most every time I visit. I call in advance and ask how "far behind" is he, and the response is maybe 15 min. But its never the case, these doctors dont manage their time properly, they want to see as many as possible with no regard for the patients time. Theyre apparently more important than everyone else. Im not sure how theyre getting all these on time and short wait reviews, theyve only been on time once out of the half dozen times Ive visited. Its usually one hour wait in the lobby and another 30-40min in the patient room. By the time you leave, youve spent roughly 2 hours of your day waiting. This could be limited to certain doctors to be fair.

I was pleasantly surprised that I did not have to wait for hours. The office had just started using electronic medical records, so a line formed for the front desk. I admit, I was a bit worried, but the process was not bad. I did not wait long in the waiting room or the exam room for that matter. I had to have a lesion removed, and it was very quick and painless, but I felt the physician didnt truly interact with me much or tell me the steps he was taking to proceed. Being that I am a healthcare provider, I wish he had interacted more and explained things to me. I would definitely return as it was my first time there, but I would hope for more personal doctor-patient interaction. My personal physician sent me, so I knew I was in good hands. Staff was very nice, office was clean and had nice decor.
