I have never written a review for anything before, but I have to write one for this exceptional rather new vet that anyone with an animal they love should be made aware of.... It is hard to enough to get a human doctor to care, let alone a vet - and Ive been to a few. But they have managed to go above and beyond just caring and have a level and quality of staff and competence that Ive never seen before. I have a cat that I am bringing overseas (moving) and anyone who is familiar with the PETS pet passport process knows it is a NIGHTMARE!! It is a very complicated, tedious, and exact process and one mistake could mean your pet either being quarantined, put down, or left behind. I was at a well known cat care facility in the city and the vet left me the rudest message , after I spent a week ordering documents, researching etc and basically doing THEIR job which I was paying for, and he said its not that simple it isnt a cookbook recipe. Well, I had to dumb it down because neither him nor the staff tried to understand the situation,- it was like researching to be your own attorney when you are paying one to defend you. I was freaking out, as it is so time sensitive, and found this vet. It was like night and day- so kind, and they are constantly-without me having to call or email- are checking the status and what needs to be done next. They sent an email with all of my cats results and health records after the first exam- EXCELLENT! Never seen that before! They respond to email or phone calls with kindness, warmth, and speed. It has been a huge weight lifted from the stress of this move, knowing I can count on them to make sure everything is being taken care of to the utmost standards.Also, my parents brought their cat, who has been misdiagnosed numerous times, and they ran every test- including checking for cancer which they rarely do off the bat but what our family cat died of. The fact that they wanted to rule out anything else it could be that wasnt obvious was another first. They had great ideas and they really do love and care about your pets so you can truly trust them. They are life savers!!

I would give them more stars, if I could! Hazel Dell Animal Hospital is, in my opinion, a wonderful veterinary hospital! I have read all of the reviews posted and can honestly say that in the 12+ years they have been my pets vet, I have never had a negative (or even neutral) experience. They care for our 12 year old dog (since we got him), very sensitively handled the illness and subsequent euthanasia of a young kitten (including sending a sympathy card), care for our 2 cats and are now caring for the newest addition to our pet family -- a puppy. The staff, vet techs and nurses, and vets are warm, friendly and welcoming, as well as being helpful on the telephone and in person. I originally went to them because they were very close to my home. About 8 years ago I moved into Indianapolis, so they are no longer "conveniently" located for me. While there is a well known veterinary hospital within a mile of our home, I continue to drive to Hazel Dell Animal Hospital -- I like and trust them and would not entrust the care of my precious pets to anyone else.

I honestly didnt know I could love a vet so much. Every single member of the staff at Hazel Dell Animal Hospital is incredible. No exceptions. I am so very thankful for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism. They take such good care of us and our babies that they feel like family to us. They instantly know who we are and every little detail about our pets when we call or stop in. Our family has been taking our animals to Hazel Dell for probably 15 years, and boy have we seen it all together. They are so compassionate with every situation, and Dr. McDaniel and Dr. Bassett handle every situation with such ease. They also tell the truth, which is so valuable in a vet. In non-favorable situations, they are so open and honest with what treatment options theyd recommend for all ailments. They are all just really, really great people, and we are so thankful to have them in our lives.

HDAH has been amazing!!! Just recently had to rush my senior dog for an unscheduled urgent appointment. Dee Ann up front did a great job squeezing us in on a busy Saturday morning as she could tell my dog was in need. The detail of the exam and ruling out all possible options made me feel so much better for an older dog where it really could be just about anything. They do a terrific job of detailing out instructions and responding to questions for treatment. Then the follow up is very sincere and focused on the animal! Everyone I have had the pleasure of interacting with has been as genuine as can be and truely love the "patients!" Hazel Dell Animal Hospital is the only place I recommend to anyone and I trust them with EVERYTHING!

I recently moved to Carmel and my pet cat became very ill. I called Hazel Dell Animal Hospital and they were able to get me in as a new patient within 2 hours of my call. They took excellent care of my pet. Everyone from the front desk person to the vet assistants treated my pet very well. The vet, Dr. Bassett, was empathetic to an upset pet owner and very kind to my pet. He followed up with me personally several times to check on his status. He also provided me with options for emergency care after hours and provided me with a number I could reach him after hours. I feel very blessed to have found such a caring veterinarian. I would highly recommend this veterinarian.

This is by far the best vet and office ever. The front desk staff is amazing and anytime I call, they know who I am, and our pets by name. Anytime weve had an urgent situation theyve been able to get us in right away, even on Saturdays. They accommodate for my dog who is "other-dog-aggressive" as well. The appointment reminder cards have their photos, and usually they give our dog a bandana when he leaves. We had a very special needs rescue dog at one point, and after he passed away, they made a donation to Purdue In his honor and memory of him. Honestly I wish they could be my human doctor, truly they are THE BEST!

I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this place. My beloved cat was very ill and they were unable to determine what was wrong. After several tests and many expensive suggestions, my baby kitten of 12 years died. I understand that it was not their fault and we really do not know what the cause was other than liver failure. BUT....The day after my cat died, they called....not to wish condolences for my HUGE loss...but to collect $65 dollars for an additional test after I had already spent hundreds. The INSENSITIVITY they have demonstrated is heartless. I am paying the bill and finding a new vet!!!

I have taken my pets to Hazel Dell Animal Hospital now for 18+ years. Both Dr. Bassett and Dr. McDaniel have seen my animals and I couldnt be happier with their service and the service from all of their support staff as well. In my 18 years with them and through the care of 5 dogs and 2 cats, there has not been a single time that I was less than satisfied with the care they gave my pets and or the sensitivity and understanding they always exhibited. I will continue to take my pets to them and would strongly recommend this veterinarian hospital to anyone who needs.
