The people at BrightStar, Highland, IN are very responsive and capable. I made a call to inquire about the nature and cost of their services, and received a home visit the same day from Jean Overla, who runs the service. The next day we were visited by a nurse, and we had our first helper within 48 hours. Our family has used some other services and the employees just werent as well trained or experienced as the people working for BrightStar. Our first priority was bathing assistance, and in the past, we had to explain how best to do this. BrightStar employees immediately stepped in and knew just how to make the process safer and easier. It inspired confidence. We have had several helpers from the agency. They have all been kind and helpful and competent. The person who works for us most regularly is Erin -- and we feel like she has become a friend. Not only does she take good care of my sister, she breezes in with energy and cheerfulness and lightens the mood in our house!

We are so grateful for the care and help provided by BrightStar. When company owner Jean first came out to meet our parents, she took the time to listen to their needs and fears. The caregivers that she sent were a perfect fit. It is important to be clear about what tasks should be completed and how best to help in each situation. We did this and we were not disappointed. My parents looked forward to the extra help and we felt better knowing BrightStar was providing a safer, calmer environment. With any caregiver situation, communication on both sides is key. BrightStar is fantastic and very supportive. My mom had medical issues whereas her BP / HR had to be monitored prior to any medication reminders etc. I was notified each and every time when her BP/ HR was high. Her CNA was always on time (if not early) and really cared for my mom. They have been very flexible with scheduling when I needed to take my mom to the doctor. If I didnt have their staff and health care professionals giving me guidance, my mom wouldnt ever had her "90" Birthday Celebration. Thank You BrightStar for all that you do.

I was home bound and the BrightStar caregiver, Pam, got me to do things and get me out of the house, taking me on errands with her. She not only helps me with my day-to-day activities but also feels like a friend to me. I didnt know there were even agencies available to the community like BrightStar. The owner came to visit me in the hospital and explained their services. I am very pleased, I try to mention BrightStar to anyone I meet. I wouldnt be here without BrightStar! It means so much that they go they extra mile for me!

As a caregiver myself I have been appalled by the way they are handling my friends service. They call off, they try to switch days, they switch people constantly or just dont show up. This is unacceptable. Their clients need to know they can depend on them. Clients plan their coverage around what they think is being covered by Brightstars caregivers. The changing is difficult and stressful for home bound individuals and they need to be more consistent. I would not recommend them for continuous service.
