A long strange trip indeed... I developed glaucoma at a relatively early age due to use of nasal and inhaled steroids (flovent, Flonase). Eye drops kept things in check for about 15 years. Then pretty suddenly two years ago, they pretty much stopped working and my IOPs went through the roof. Dr. Mason patiently explained the options and I enlisted another specialist at U of Iowas Glaucoma Center and arrived at the Baerveldt shunt as my option of choice. Dr. Mason installed the first in February of 2016 and the second in June. From what I understand, I have been very lucky but, between the cataract surgery that was done and the installation of the shunts, I have nearly perfect vision in both eyes and am off Glaucoma meds completely at this time (March 2017). I could not be happier with the people and the process. It should be stressed that I have been very lucky. Dr. Mason repeatedly stressed that if all patients could have the same luck as me, the Glaucoma drops people would go out of business. It is pretty risky stuff but I had no other options and it worked for me. I was either going to have this work or be blind in both eyes pretty much, by now. Thanks Dr. Ben!

This clinic doesnt even deserve one star. After the tremendous amount of testing, they concluding that I wasnt fit for any type of corrective eye surgery whatsoever without any explanation of why, or any further routes I can take. They then had the audacity to charge us a consultation fee, even after promising no fees for this pre-surgery visit. I now have 20/15 vision thanks to the Associated Ophthalmologists in Des Moines, Iowa, no thanks to this strip mall joint. Dont waste your money here, unless you dont want high quality treatment with highly professional staff.

If you are okay giving up you SSN for a regular exam go ahead to these guys! .. Today I went there for eye exam and they asked for my SSN, I refused to give them and asked them why do they need it, they said to verify with my vision insurance, I called my insurance and found that my insurance itself dont have it!!! .. I called the clinic back to tell them, they said we do not deal with your insurance .. very funny and ridiculous really!

The doctors might be good, I dont know yet. Ive been sitting in the waiting room for 1 hour, 50 minutes! Thats the second room. The first one I waited , 15 minutes. So appointment was 11 am here I am at 1:25 still waiting to see doctor . When I told the nurse she didnt even just apologize. Just an excuse that theyve had a lot of emergencies. Well how about giving me the option of knowing that and coming about day?! Ridiculous.

Ive been very happy with the care Ive gotten from Dr. Barnes at the Wolfe Eye Clinic in Cedar Rapids. Everybody has been friendly, helpful and willing to answer all my questions. Occasionally the wait can be a little long - but I think it depends on time of day.

Cant say enough good things thus far about my experiences with Wolfe. Staff are exceedingly friendly and professional. Dr. Gothard did one of my two eyes for cataract removal already and the change is huge and life altering. Great overall experience

Dr. K saved my eyesight, My retina detached on Saturday July 2nd Dr. K met with my on this holiday weekend and we had surgery on Sunday July 3rd to reattach. The care that Dr. K and all of the staff at the Wolfe Clinic gave has been exceptional.
