Overall, we had an excellent experience here. Our dog got injured in the wee hours of the morning on a Saturday, and our normal vet was not set up for the sort of surgery that she would have required. They referred us to the Emergency Clinic. I was incredibly worried about our dog, as she had a huge gash down her side (but was still otherwise acting pretty normal???), so we rushed her to the Veterinary ER. The person at the front desk was kind and patient with us, and they rushed her into the back room right away. She did have to wait a while to go into surgery, but my understanding is, that is how triage works! They patched her up to make her stable, and we sat and watched as several separate CRITICAL patients came in after us. If I had been in those owners positions, I would want my cat or dog treated first, too! They also did a great job of communicating with us. When Dr. Schroeder came out and talked with us, she explained exactly what was going on and how long we could expect to wait for our dog to be out of surgery. She was reassuring, VERY knowledgeable, and very friendly with us (as well as with our dog!) Our dog was patched up and sent home with us that day (which I did not expect!) and they even mentioned, even if she had had to stay the night, they would not have charged us extra for the overnight stay. I consider this fair and very considerate of our financial situation. Finally, the finances. This place was more expensive than a regular vet (duh), but that is because they offer services and hours a regular vet doesnt or cant offer (also, duh). I appreciated their willingness to work with us on a price. It was expensive, dont get me wrong, but they worked up an estimate and the surgery went so well, she came in WAY under budget. I really appreciated this as well. Overall, Id say my experience here was a good one (considering the circumstances). Dr. Schroeder even called us a few days later to check up on our dog and make sure everything was going okay with her stitches! I dont think Ive ever had a vet call me with a follow up, ever. This just goes to show how far out of their way they will go to make sure your dog or cat gets the treatment and care they need. I give these guys a well-deserved 5 stars.

This is in memory of my beloved baby girl, a mini-dachshund. Hope you butchers can live with yourselves. I took my baby girl here because her vet could not see her on the weekend. When I left her at the "specialty hospital", I was asked to sign the permission paperwork for surgery and was told it was just in case they had to do surgery before the scheduled day, Monday. She had a slipped disc. Then I receive a call early Sunday morning with the most devastating news, my baby girl was dead. Who does surgery in the middle of the night? Or better yet. Who does "emergency" surgery but doesnt call the patients family until AFTERWARDS...to report the patient died shortly after a "successful" surgery!? What kind of monsters demand that the grieving family must pay nearly $3000. before they can get the body back and when the family isnt able to pay, they send a thug ("employee") in a private exam room after making the grieving family members wait 2 hours "while the body is thawing" in another room. The thug then proceeds to hold the door shut while demanding the family members (who are unable to stop crying, devastated by the loss of their loved one) pay up, demanding they sign a check that will be held for a couple of weeks. Yes, I called the police and they would have arrested the clinic thug had I known his true identity. People, please do not go here if you care about your family members, your pets. I cried for months after my beloved baby girl died. I couldnt even tell anyone without bursting into tears, grieving for my baby, knowing that I took her to a heartless, money grubbing, shop of horrors. I did that to my own family member with deepest regrets. RIP baby girl. I am so sorry.

Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital is very professional and welcoming. My husband took our puppy there to have his leg examined. The specialist did provide him with options to lower X-ray charges which we gladly listened but The problem that I have is if you arent approved for a credit card the only options you have is come up with the funds. Times are hard but even humans get billed or given alternative payment options. No one likes to see their pets injured and to have to continuously pay out of pocket expenses. It just think its hard enough dealing with emergency situations let alone worry about funds and your pet. Just to discuss financing options we had to come back in to the office, pay a fee. After viewing the website it gave a few options: care credit, icare, and paw it forward and after speaking with the receptionist we were told only care credit is now available and the website needed to be updated. I guess my pups broken leg was not critical enough to meet any other options. Just simply overwhelmed and wish there were other financial options especially since the surgery needed is only done at this facility in the Wichita area. Other than the financial aspect, I believe the wait is to be expected when visiting an ER and the staff was friendly. Just wish there were more options for people who have pets who they love. I am hoping we can save up enough money over the next couple of months or even raise some money on a gofundme account but it really hurts my heart as well as my kids heart to see our pup in pain.

As far as quality of care goes for your animal you probably couldnt get better care anywhere else. However due to the high cost of the initial visit and the doubled expenses for other veterinarian services at this location most people will be put in a horrible situation of not being able to help their pet if they dont have good credit or extra funds. There is no doubt in my mind that if I had been able to afford to use the service here I would have been able to save the life of one of my pet. The cost to have kept my pet there for 24 hours was the same cost as keeping my pet at my vet for 3 days for 24-hour service. I think its unfortunate that there is not some type of funds available or a system like the ASPCA set up here to help people when there is an emergency need with your pet. A city this size should be able to provide some type of agency that could provide quality Veterinarian Service when it is needed for an emergency situation for people who may not have adequate funds or excellent credit to apply for credit care. I think many people realize that if they are in a position where this is their only option to take their pet and they know that they do not have the funds to cover more than the office visit that theyre looking at most likely having to put their pet down unfortunately. I realize no business can run on charity but I would think this particular business would offer additional options besides Credit Care.
