I have been going to Dodderidge for almost a year now and had been very happy with my experience with them. The vet has been very nice and has tried to take care of my pets as best as she can. I thought this was a great business. Yesterday, I realized how wrong I was. I witnessed a small, fluffy white dog get hit by a car on Staples yesterday. The dog’s face had been smashed and I’m pretty certain his back was broken as he could not move. He was covered in blood, gasping for air, and screaming in pain. It was painfully evident that he had no chance of surviving his injuries and was doomed to endure a slow, painful death unless someone helped him. I rushed him to Dodderidge as it was the nearest vet and told the receptionist I had a dog in my car that needed to be euthanized because his neck had been broken and was suffering. I told her I had no problem paying the cost of the procedure, but it needed to be done immediately as every second that passed was one more unnecessary second the dog had to suffer. She disappeared to the back to tell the vet what was going on. (I do not know which vet it was.) Several long minutes later she returned to say the vet would not euthanize this poor dog because I wasn’t the owner and the vet didn’t want to “get in trouble” for putting the dog down. If it had been my child on the road suffering, writhing and screaming in pain, I would want him put out of his misery immediately. We all would. I didn’t have time to argue. I rushed the dog to Oso Emergency who immediately took the dog from me and saw to his needs. I understand there are laws about when a vet can or cannot treat an animal. However, not only did the vet refuse to help ease the dog’s suffering, they wouldn’t even come out to asses him or offer any kind of guidance. It took me thirty minutes to get the pitiful little boy to Oso. Those were thirty excruciating minutes of torture for that dog. (And for me as well as I had to listen to him screaming in my back seat the entire drive.) Any vet that would allow a dog to suffer in anguish for any amount of time because they were more worried about getting sued than they were about the dog is a vet that I don’t ever want touching any of my animals.

Save your money. Find another clinic to care for your pet. This facility proved to me that it is motivated by greed and not meeting the needs of the pet or the customer. Buyer Beware. My two dogs received care at this facility for a period of three years. The veterinarians seemed knowledgeable, and the actual care given my pets matched their needs. However, when I purchased a new puppy, the office staff pushed a “wellness” plan they call “PAW PLANS”. The office staff insisted that I would save money because service would be at a discounted rate. I signed the contract and began making monthly payments. The trouble came when I was forced to cancel the plan because of an unexpected move. The clinic retroactively charged full price for all service rendered. These were serviced that I had already paid for. The fine print on this contract does indicate that this is the case, but this kind of program is the definition of a scam. It is a completely unethical business practice to charge someone when, through no fault of their own, must leave the area. The staff at the facility made no effort to explain these penalties for leaving while pushing the program. It is unfortunate that a fairly good business resorts to “used car salesman” tactics to scam customers into buying a product that they do not need, then because of the fine print, charge extreme penalties for stopping service. The fee for pet service is high enough without being scammed by frivolous programs offered not by a sense of caring for your beloved pet, but by pure and simple extreme greed. The program itself is designed to make money on unsuspecting customers fooled into thinking they are doing something good for their pet when the program is simply put in place to scam customers out of their money. Find another place to take your pet. Doddridge Animal Clinic is not interested in pet care, they are only interested in squeezing as much money from the customers as they possibly can.

Im a transition customer from Corpus Christi Animal Clinic and to be honest I was very skeptical about the whole experience but from the information I received from the staff at Doddridge Animal Clinic, I decided to give it a try. So I took my chihuahua Taffy in to have her nails clipped & it was time to purchase another supply of the Heartgard Plus Blue that Ive been using for the past 3 years. I was made aware (at that time) that their "protocal" for all new patients was a heartworm test shot to be sure she was clear of the disease at a cost of $37. (Honestly.......I really feel this should have been a hospitality gesture on behalf of Doddridge Animal Clinic for ALL of the pets "new business" they received on behalf of Corpus Christi Animal Clinic). I was on a very tight timeline that day & wasnt able to wait for my pet to have the procedure done so they gave me one (1) tablet until I could bring her in to get the shot. During the next week, I went by again to pick up another (1) heartgard tablet for my other chihuahua & was informed by the staff they could not give me a (1) tablet b/c according to his medical records, he hasnt received any heartworm meds since 2014. I explained that I always purchased a pack of 6 between my 2 pets & then another pack in 3 months etc etc. And because "share" was not indicated on their medical records....they couldnt give me one (1) tablet for my other pet. I assured her I would bring both of them in for the heartworm shot as soon as possible but she said "sorry" thats our protocall!!!! Needless to say....I found a new veterinarian hospital and I agree with all the previous reviews that Doddridge Animal Clinic is all about the money!!! And I was very, very sad that I never saw any of the staff from Corpus Christi Animal Clinic who were so awesome & so caring....did they lose ther jobs through this transition???

I have had good experiences at this veterinary office in the past, but after this last experience I doubt I will be being my pets back here again. I had brought my male cat in to treat a UTI about a month ago, and he was given antibiotics. The infection came back about 3 weeks later so I brought him back. They did an X-ray to check for kidney stones and then did a culture to see what bacteria needed to be treated for. They did not give him a second antibiotic or do any actual treatment. Last night he started behaving strangely and I noticed he wasnt urinating at all. We called Doddridge in the morning and they couldnt get him an appointment until 2 pm. A blocked urinary tract is an EMERGENCY with male cats, they can have kidney failure in 24-48 hours if not treated immediately. I rushed him to the Ingleside animal hospital and they were astonished that no antibiotic was given when I had brought him to Doddridge. They put a cathader in immediately and he is on his way to recovery, though it will cost much more than if he had just been treated properly in the beginning. The vet emphasized that he would have died if we had waited any longer to get treatment. He also told me that I needed to change his diet asap. The vet at Doddridge had shrugged off my questions about changing his food before, which is very concerning. I am just very upset and worried that this was not taken more seriously by the staff at Doddridge. They have always been great with my other cats and I had recommended them to other people. I gave them 2 stars because they are very good with animals, apparently only if the condition is not serious... Unfortunately, I will not be bringing my cats back here again due to this extremely stressful and upsetting experience.
