I am shocked by some of the negative reviews. Weve been taking our pets to AAH for some time. We are delighted at every visit. Weve had pets for over 40 years and have gone to dozens of other vets. In frustration with those other vets, friends recommended AAH. Weve been going there ever since. They are the most caring, thoughtful, competent vets weve ever used. Weve seen Dr. Jesske, Dr. Knott and Dr. Hull. They love our pets almost as much as we do. Earlier this year, our 14 year old dog had a tumor. AAH worked with us on treatments, helped our dog with fluids, but in the end there wasnt much that could be done. One morning our dog was in so much pain that we loaded him in the car. At 70 lbs, that was a chore and it made our dog hurt even more. Dr. Jesske came out to our car, helped to calm our dog (and us), and put our dog to sleep in the car as we had already arranged to have him cremated. Dr Jesske cared about us as much as he did our dog. All three vets have seen our newest German Shepherd puppy. That poor little guy ate some rawhide when he was just 10 weeks old and it made him VERY sick. All three vets were involved in caring for him on an emergency basis. The vet techs are also soooo caring. Marissa always gives our little shepherd puppy extra attention. Its so fun to watch Dr. Knott and Dr Hull get down on the floor at puppy level to care for them. As far as costs, you get what you pay for, They always give us options on tests and treatments. We are never taken advantage of, even when our emotions were highest during the death of our old dog and the severe illness of our puppy. I could give so many more examples...

I cant praise all the staff at American Animal Hospital enough. Everyone there is so kind and friendly, I feel like I am back in my small town. I have many animals, who have all been seen there for either check-ups, emergencies, and other various conditions (hip problems, severe allergies, bladder stones, etc...). I have seen every doctor at this facility, and I havent been disappointed by any of them. I have 2 pitbulls, who most individuals are afraid of (even though they are nice). Before moving to Omaha, I was accustomed to veterinary staff putting muzzles on them before they would treat them. NOT ONCE has the veterinary staff at American Animal Hospital asked to put a muzzle on them. As a pit owner, I cant tell you how good that makes me feel. I have a cat that has to have special food (science diet C/D) because of her bladder stones, this food is not cheap, but I have done my research on the best place to purchase this food, and the lowest price is at American Animal Hospital (by at least 4 dollars). They do their best to help you save money (coupons, loyalty food program, etc..) I have never felt that they have charged me too much, for any service or appointment there. I truly cant praise this place enough, I have been coming here for 5 years and I have never been disappointed. I trust American Animal Hospital to provide to best care for my babies. Big thanks to everyone who works there!

I had heard great things about this office before going here for the first time and had O.K. experiences for the first few visits but then we started seeing Dr. Jesske. Now I wouldnt recommend this facility to anyone if they think theyll have an appointment with him. He was short with us and not very understanding. For example, we once asked how to keep our cat healthy and safe while being an outdoor cat. He was probably 16 years old by that time and had always been an outdoor cat, and Jesske had now answer but to not let him outdoors. I felt like I was being judged by the fact that I let my cat out, of course there is a safety risk but I wanted to know how to minimize that and I got nothing. Then, later, when we had to get the same cat put down from old age, Jesske was the one to do it and his bedside manner was terrible. Of course it is awkward and uncomfortable and maybe hes not the sensitive type but youre dealing with peoples best friends and family, might as well be their children, get better at it! I now go to The Pet Clinic at 140th and Center, I have never felt judged, always felt welcome, and the vets there treat my animals like they would children, because to me they pretty much are. HOWEVER: I Have heard great things about Dr. Phillips, I just found it hard to get an appointment with her, and I dont have trouble getting in with a vet I love at The Pet Clinic.

We moved to NW Omaha in 2004 and were lucky enough to find American Animal Hospital. The location is conviencent and the staff is great! Our female Himalayan isn’t the most social cat in the world. She can be down right unfriendly. So when the groomer, Sam, told us she was one of the easiest cats to work with, we knew we had a WINNER VET on our hands! I always recommend AAH because of their special attention they give to our cats. Plus it doesn’t hurt that they more than beat the retail chains’ prices for grooming. My sister-in-law was moving across country in August 2009 and needing to get her two MaineCoon cats’ claws clipped. The retail chains (PetSmart and Pet Co) wouldn’t do this simple task unless they had a copy of their last check-up on file. Well, of course, this information was in the moving truck somewhere along I-80. AAH got her and her two cats right in ~ no waiting and for a price that again beat the retail chains. Thanks again AAH!

I have been going to American Animal Hospital for the past 15 years and I will never go to another vet. Dr. Jesske is the best, but all of their vets and support staff are great. They truly care about your animals. They offer a wide variety of services, so many of my friends have been referred to them by smaller vets for special treatments that their vet didnt offer, however Ive always felt that their fees are very reasonable unlike some large vet clinics. The staff at American Animal is very understanding about family budgets and they dont nickel and dime you for unnecessary tests, medicines, or treatments. The receptionists, techs, and vets remember me and my dogs and ask questions when we come in which shows they care. American Animal is a win-win for any family! Large enough that they have great hours and a wide variety of services, yet they have never outgrown that extra care and attention that you get from a smaller vet clinic.

I would rate their care very poor. I brought my dog in because his back legs werent working. I arrived at 9am on a Saturday morning as a walk in. They told me I was the first walk in, but would have to wait for the vet to fit us in between his appointments. I was perfectly fine with waiting. Until FOUR HOURS LATER the vet came in and when I expressed my irritation with the wait he said, It is what it is.". I did hear that someone brought in their dog that was hit by a car. I also have no problem waiting my turn, but seriously FOUR HOURS?!? They could have told me that they did not have time and I could have taken him elsewhere...which is what I ended up doing anyway. VCA 80 Dodge Animal Hospital took us in and provided the most professional care during a very difficult day for us. I will not take my other dog back here and would not recommend them to anyone.
