My dog Jadis who has a torn ACL/MCL .I HAD already talked to dr. Benson about surgery, told him i needed to get the money together. So i called the humane society to see if i could get assistance, and they abliged and wete willing to help with $250 of the cost. Then i went to the bank and borrowed the rest. I then called Dr Benson and told him i had the money including the help from the humane society. He said we could do it on the following Tuesday and he would go ahead and order the hardware but had to get confirmation from the hamane society about the help. So i then called that lady and had her call them and she called me and said everything would be fine. Then the girl from dr bensons office called me ,telling me the hardware was on back order and quoting their pollices and that they needed full payment up front. So i offered to pay the full amount and let them reimburse me after they recieved the check. So i then had the lady from the HS to call them to ensure them of how it would all work, and she did. I then recieve a call from that same girl from Salt River Animal Clinic...saying the hardware was on permanent back order and that Dr. Benson had family matters pop up he had to attend to...come on REALLY. So even after i offered to pay the full amount and let them reimburse me ( no honor ) they felt the need to call me to tell me a bunch of bold face lies , insulting both my intelligence and integrity. I wouldnt recommend these scumbags to my worst enemy !!!!

Ive had an ill rat for months and hes been on a steady decline, and just moved to town. I called before hand to ask if they were equipped to handle small animals and my situation. I was told Id need to have an exam and the vet was very short with me. I figured he would be more understanding in person and made an appointment, they had been highly recommended. The vet preformed the exam in the back room, not in front of me. He was short with me and cold. He told me nothing new and was unwilling to listen and take into account my animals previous history and his condition, He would not listen that I had already exhausted all other options and previous treatment in my hometown. I pushed to end his suffering, it was clear it was time and when he finally gave in he said nothing and closed the door curtly, didnt offer to explain what happened next or the process. The vet technician was very quick to take my dear friend into the back, before I could really protest or process what she was doing, I wasnt given the option to stay with him or wait until the end like is customary, but they were very quick to print out a bill and send me on my way. Not one shred of condolence or kindness was offered and I will not be back again. I realize being a new patient doesnt give much time creditably with these people but It was an entirely unpleasant end to a very dear friend and neither seemed to recognize that or make it any easier for me, despite it being a very clear decision.

I have taken my animals to Dr. Bension for years. I have gained new additions to my family from strays Bension has taken in, as well as going through the difficult process of loss with Dr. Bension and his staffs help. Dr. Bension has always been accommodating through emergency situations, even driving to the clinic outside his office hours to assist with my in-critical-condition cat. When he wasnt able to personally help me with treatment, hed call ahead to other veterinary clinics that he was familiar with to brief them on my visit and make sure they gave me the care hed offer. He has been upfront and honest in advising me on what are necessary procedures when times were financially tough, as well helping to decrease expenses if he was able. Dr. Bension does indeed have a rough exterior upon initial meetings, but he cares for animals and has never once treated them without utmost respect and compassion. He is most certainly not in this business for financial gain. I would not go to him if he was, and have left other veterinarians for this reason. I have met other clients of his that drive an hour to get his service, and I will forever remain his client so long as I am within driving distance. I trust no one else with my pets and hope I wont have to for a very, very long time.

I have been usung Salt River Veterinary Clinic since I moved into the area in 1997. I continued to use this clinic after Dr. Benson purchased the practice. He and his staff have seen me and my family thru all life stages of our pets and have done so compassionately. At one point, Dr. Benson took our boa constrictor when we no longer had a home for him. He found him a nice home with a lovely young lady. Now, Dr. Benson, Theresa, Whitney and the rest of his staff take care of our current pets which includes 4 german shepherds of varying ages. Our GSDs love everyone at SRVC. We take them for weekly visits just so our GSDs will get their "Dr. Benson" fix. We like how Dr. Benson will take our pets to the exam room and perform the fecal/blood work exams and give shots. It builds trust and socialization skills; plus reduces stress. This method works!! Our dogs get so excited when we pull into the parking lot and practically run in to see everyone. We are looking forward to using Dr. Benson and his staff as we journey through our next great adventure of establishing our kennel. Thank you guys!! Keep up the great work.

Had a family pet rat . The average life span is 3 year for a domestic Rat, This little guy was 4. He has seen other vets and we knew it was his time. My daughter, a 21 year old college student knew that this little guy was no longer comfortable and was suffering. He had a great life. Took him here because we had heard good things. This place charged her for a visit, a physical and then putting him down and cremation. They insisted on trying to treat him. We knew there was no way of making him better but they tried to sell her on treatments. We had been through different treatments already. They had him in the back and they wouldnt even let her say goodbye to him. Just handed her the bill for $200 and said they would call. Never Go Here. No compassion, Just want your Money

Due to Dr Bension and all the wonderful staff at Salt River Vet, this is the ONLY place we have trusted to take our fur babies for over 10 years. All the staff are awesome, are always friendly and are very patient with my many questions. My current dog Sadie has had some health issues and Dr Bension has gone above and beyond to help her get proper food/meds for her food allergies and stomach issues. Sadie LOVES going to the vet, which causes so much less stress and worry for us. It is also great that they do boarding-we can go on vacation with no worries and know she is taken care of. Even when friends offer to keep Sadie if we are out of town we still prefer to take her their for boarding because we trust them 100%. I highly recommend Salt River Vet!
