Recently I had to have my dog looked at because he seemed to be feeling down...he just wasnt his normal high energy self. When I took him to the vet the doctor said it seemed his teeth were in pretty bad shape and that his changed mood could be a result of a mouth infection. After getting the estimate (which was $500.00-$700.00) I asked why the huge range in price? The vet tech explained that the price would change based on the number of extractions, if any were necessary (I was asked to give my consent to remove teeth that could not be saved). I agreed to the dental and we set up the appointment. On the day of the dental I dropped Maxy off early in the morning and they said they would call when he was finished to let me know how things went. I was nervous but I have been using Family Vet for some time and although this was my first dental they have always been good in the past. They called at about 11:00am to let me know that Maxy was finished and that he did well. They removed SIX teeth! They told me that he definitely had an infection and that he would feel much better after he cleared it. They had given Maxy antibiotics before the dental and they gave me more to continue at home. Needless to say Maxy was a different dog after he recovered; I havent seen him act like this in years. He is even more energetic than before I noticed him moping around. The doctor said he could have had the infection for some time. The final price, even with the removal of six teeth, was still in the middle of the estimated range. I cant believe how good he feels now! I will recommend Family Vet to everyone, they saved my Maxy.

They have changed, for the worse. Let me start off by saying I used to be a huge fan of Family Veterinary Clinic before they expanded. The technicians would welcome us by name when we arrived and quickly checked us out when we were done. Now, they have receptionist (I dont believe they had one before) and are in a larger building. Lately we havent been thrilled by our experiences and are switching to another veterinary. Last week we had an annual exam and flea dirt was found by our dogs tail. I was explained that it was flea dirt and that "fleas might be on (my dogs) stomach", however they were not looked for. I was asked if we were up to date on prevention (yes). I was not given any guidance on treatment or what fleas look like, steps to get rid of them, steps if those treatments dont work, anything. After a week of doing everything we knew of (reapplying prevention meds, fully treating the house, lots of baths, etc) we called back asking for other options. I was given attitude and do not believe that I was even listen to. In fact when I asked for a specific product and told they had it in stock, they did not. Also at the appointment the veterinarian expressed concerns about something that was tested at the previous appointment and easily in the pets record. Bottom line, I feel that there is a serious communication and lack of information sharing with us with the vet and overall attitude with the reception area.

I have been going to Family Vet Clinic for 9 years now with 1 cat and 4 dogs and love them! They are very trusting and friendly and explain everything to you and give you options to help you decide your animals treatment. I even had to take my dog to the emergency vet one time over the weekend and Im guessing they sent my dogs records to Family Vet because 1st thing Monday morning Family Vet called me asking how my dog was doing and if I had any questions for them over the issue. I also had a dog that, after recently adopting, was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Dr Yates was so helpful during that time looking at different treatment options and discussing all our possibilities. When it came time to euthanize him, they set up the exam room very nicely and let us stay in there as long as we wished afterwards. They didnt even force me to pay the bill that day because of the high emotions of the situation and they also did a nice paw print memorial that I didnt even know they did until afterwards. The clinic also had all the employees sign a nice card for us and mailed it to us. I would recommend anyone to Family Vet Clinic. I have had nothing but great experiences out of them over the past 9 years and I will continue to take all my animals to them.

Best vet in town! The entire staff is so friendly and welcoming. I first came to Family Veterinary Clinic when my dog tore her ACL about 3 years ago. A friend recommended I get a second opinion after a nearby vet quoted me a really high price on the surgery. The quote at Family Vet was $1000 LESS than my first quote!! Beyond the price, the doctors and staff are so caring and compassionate. You can tell they LOVE to care for pets! No matter how small or big the issue, I always feel like they listen to my concerns about my pets and help me to take the best care of them. Every time my pets have had a surgery or procedure done, the staff has called to check on them and answer any questions I have. They have convenient hours and it has always been simple to make an appointment. I have been to vets before where I feel like Im being nickle-and-dimed for every little thing and the prices are outrageous. That is not the case at all here. The prices are very reasonable and they even offer a military discount! 5 stars without hesitation!

I made an appointment with this clinic based on the high google reviews. The appointment was a follow-up after adoption at PGAC Animal Control, which was recommended by their vet to follow-up on his kennel cough and get his Heart guard. He had already administered several vaccines, tests, and medications for his kennel cough. She administered a 2nd DHAIPP without any discussion beforehand. I had many concerns and asked why a second one and she said to complete it?! This was only 4 weeks after the 1st vaccine, WHILE he was still sick with kennel cough. Later, I learned best practice is to wait for 3 months, especially since he was run down with the cough. IMO this was a huge error in judgement. Also, I paid an additional $250 AFTER the PGAC Vets extensive (free) care. Their heart guard has a 50% markup on retail price. The wormer test was $50! after inhouse test? Ive owned dogs for 30 years and never paid that much except when my lab had cancer. Shame on these people!!

I absolutely love Family Vet Clinic in Gambrills MD. They give military discount, facility is very clean and set up nicely with a comfortable waiting area, they have a nice lawn with an outside bag and disposal station for you to walk around and clean up after your dog. The Vets are very nice andknowledgable and always check up on my dog with phone calls. Appointments are always available at your convienece (same day if you call early enough). Also...i especially love that it is never crowded when I take my dog in. They also have an animal accupuncturist who works out of their facility as well and she is also very nice and has helped my arthritic dog feel better on many occassions. Although I do go to the military Vet clinic because it is right next to my house and low pricing for military, I make the drive to Family Vet if i need immediate appointments...and im so glad i found them.
