Wish I could give a negative star. I rarely post negative comments but I stopped in and explained that I have a very large Labrador retriever who has, on several occasions, nearly broken her leg(s) and her neck to avoid her nails clipped. She also absolutely does not respond well to strangers or other animals. I explained this very clearly and asked if I could get a low dose sedative as her nails are horrific and I can tell they cause her pain. I explained I had tried other safe methods including diphenhydramine (at a 100 pound dog safe dose) and it resulted in a paradoxical reaction. Have you ever had a manic 100 pound Labrador run around your house and yard? For hours? Nothing was safe. Their response? You have to bring her in. Huh?!? What the heck did i just tell you people over the last 5 minutes. Ive already told this to many of my friends and neighbors who know me and that stupid (but spoiled) dog and the ones who took their pets there have already found other vets. To the smart mouthed woman who I spoke to, I pray you someday have the same problem I had and not only will the person you go to who is a professional does not help, but insults and embarrasses you in front of other people. If I were prone to cuss, I would do so here and directly to you.

I highly recommend this vet practice! Dr. Abell is the most considerate and knowledgable vet that I know! The compassion that she shows is measurable! She always goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care for each of her patients. We use their clinic for both our dogs and cat as well as our livestock. The knowledge that she is able to provide for each type of animal is such a blessing! Their office is always able to get us scheduled efficiently and their hours are very convenient! A few weeks ago we had an unfortunate event happen with our cat. They were able to provide the emergency services that we needed. They called later that day to check up on how the cat was feeling. We are so thankful that our cat was quickly feeling so much better and has made a 100% recovery made possible by the care they provided!

This is an exceptional Veterinary Hospital!!!! The staff is always so pleasant and so helpful and their love for animals is very evident! If youre searching for a new vet... or a better Vet search no more! They are very well equipped veterinary hospital not to mention the knowledge and expertise of the vets is amazing. In fact the main Vet of the Pocomoke branch Dr Abell graduated valedictorian of the 2013 class at Virginia Tech! Its not often that you can go to the vet and consult with the valedictorian...especially on the Eastern Shore. I am proud to call Layfield Veterinary Services my vet!!!

Our pets are like family to us, the gentle and careing staff at Layfield Veterinary has been such a positive experience. We are so glad to have found in Dr Abel not only someone with superior medical knowledge along with incredible compassion . I can not imagine takeing our Pets anywhere but Layfield. I saw the one negative review. I can not imagine any Veterinary or for that matter any kind of Dr. That would prescribe a medication without assessing the pet or person. That would be very unethical.

I take all my dogs there as well as all my Rescue dogs. You couldnt ask for a more caring bunch of people. They are honest and up front on treatments for my pets. Dr. Abell was wonderful with my most fearful dog took her time with her to reassure her that she was going to be fine. Toe nail clippings can be a nightmare with her and even though she did get nipped, she was still very loving and caring and asks how the dog is doing and if we are in need of tackling the dried nails again.
