I took my dog in there this morning. She is a rescue dog that I have only had 10 days. She is very thin, but I am working on getting her groceries and getting her back into shape, doing it slowly but surely. First, as a strange side note: Even though I know her birthday and told them her birthday (she is only 8mo old), they swear she is older than I am telling them, saying that she is at least a year old, maybe older. (?? what??? and you know this based on the fact that she has all her adult teeth?? puppies get all their adult teeth by 7 months!!) Also, while microchipping her in the back, they fed her an ENTIRE CAN OF DOG FOOD, swearing it was only to keep her occupied while they injected the chip. Right sure... whatever. Why did they not ASK me??? Now, not only did she get sick on the way home in the car (like I told them she would when they tried to feed her treats in front of me), but she is now UP and awake in the wee hours of the night with explosive diarrhea because she was fed huge amounts of food her system is not used to. This is potentially MUCH worse to her body than the thiness--which I am already working on, and which I spoke to the vet about. A third thing that irritated me was that the doctor treated me like I had an IQ of 50. I am a biologist and understand words with more than 2 syllables. The vet also did NOT try very successfully to look at my dogs stomach when I asked her to check out some sores she has been licking. It was frustrating and irritating--being around someone on a power trip is just plain not worth it. I do not think I would recommend this place to anyone, given that they just messed up my dogs digestive system, when they are supposed to be just checking her out (wellness exam) and microchipping her.

My partner and I took our dog, Connor, here on recommendation from a friend. We had previously been going to Cambridge Veterinary Care, but when he tested positive for heart worm (we had just rescued him a few weeks prior), the vet there told me that not only did they not have the necessary medication for him, but that he probably wasnt going to even be able to get it. He took more than a full week to even get back to me with a treatment plan. Our experience at VCA Brookline has been completely different. Theyre friendlier, more flexible, better prepared, more knowledgable, and show more concern for their patients. Dr. Groper confirmed the heart worm diagnosis prescribed a month of Doxycycline to kill a bacteria that strengthens the worms and sterilize them, which we went home with. He said they had Immiticide in stock, and even if they didnt, hed order some and it would be in by the time Connors next appointment was due in a month. Preventing heart worm is easy, but treating it is hard. Dr. Groper and VCA made this a smooth process and as painless as possible. He personally followed up with me after working hours, and several times called me in the evenings from his cell to make sure Connor was handling the treatment well. I recommend this pet hospital to absolutely anyone and will continue to take my animals to them as long as I can.

Hands-down the best vets office I have ever visited. The service is prompt whether it is in-person or over the phone, and you can tell that every single person who works there is a huge animal lover and genuinely cares about your pet. My cat Alex needed intense dental work done and the vet and techs I worked with walked me through every step and answered my many questions with ease. My cats dental work was done by such a caring vet (Dr. Groper) and he really made me feel comfortable and confident in his work when explaining the actual procedure. I was able to sign up for Care Credit on the spot to make payment even easier. Overall, i am 100% happy with the care my cat received and my interactions with this entire team. My cat is home now resting comfortably. I definitely recommend taking your pet to VCA Brookline-world class service from people who really care!

The staff is friendly and the place is clean but WOW... they love to run up your bill as much as they can. I took my dog in for two shots... two shots and walked out with a bill over $170.00. The two shots cost $47.00 together. They charged me $56.00 for a "wellness exam" that my dog had 4 weeks earlier and the exam consisted of recording my dogs weight and checking her heart beat! $56.00!!! The doctor (will remain nameless) "offered" to drain some fluid from my dogs ear explaining it would lesson the discomfort. She said it would be quick... 2 minutes, its just a simple needle. She made it sound as if it was no big deal and she was doing it for the benefit of my dog. She at no time made me aware of what the cost was or that she was going to charge me. Well that simple little needle cost me another $42.00!! Needless to say, Im looking elsewhere for a new vet.

I boarded my two dogs here when I had to go out of town unexpectedly. They kept both my dogs in the medical side of the clinic which is very expensive because they said they had diarhea and they also gave one of my dogs several days of antibiotics. When I picked up my dogs they were still sickly, not at all better, and I was handed a bill for over $1300 for a weeks stay for both dogs to board as well as rabies and distemper shots. When I got home I fed both dogs food mixed with a little pumpkin and they were both fine after about 24 hours. Im sure being home was what helped them to feel better but I think it was strange that they had diarrhea the whole time they were at the hospital and supposedly boarding in medical care. Too expensive and on top of that my dogs were sick when I picked them up.

The VCA Brookline Animal Hospital was absolutely wonderful. My little fur friend, Winston, was having some eye trouble and I was able to get an appointment in less than 24 hours. Dr. Groper was friendly, knowledgable, and treated us like family. He was patient and gentle with Winston and talked me through everything he did in the exam. The prices were fair, but the quality of care was what topped it all. They even called a few days after the visit to check in on Winston! Coming from a family of veterinarians, the VCA exceeded my high expectations. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us! We will definitely be returning for any future needs!

I have been taking my dog to Brookline Animal for a while, and I am mostly satisfied with the service, even though like most vets, they tend to over-recommend expensive tests. What is extremely inconvenient, however, is that they will not call in or fax prescriptions into online pet pharmacies. In this day and age that is completely ridiculous. I just spoke to somebody who told me that they can mail a prescription to me so that I can mail the prescription into the online pharmacy. It sounds like an attempt to make ordering online so inconvenient that people will be willing to just pay higher prices at their own pharmacy.
