VCA Hanson Animal Hospital is a veterinary facility located in Hanson, Massachusetts. The hospital offers a range of services for pets and has garnered a rating of 4.7. It operates on a flexible schedule, accommodating pet owners throughout the week.
Some customers have raised concerns about the timing of payment collection, especially during emotional moments like euthanizing a pet. These instances have led to negative experiences, questioning the compassion of the staff.
On the flip side, many reviews praise the quality of service provided. The staff is described as friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to the needs of the pets. Techniques like wrapping nervous pets in blankets and the use of effective vaccinations are highlighted.
The hospital offers payment plans, which many find to be financially helpful. However, there are instances where customers felt blindsided by charges, especially when the hospital's own advertising promised free or discounted services.
The reviews indicate a high level of expertise among the veterinarians. Multiple doctors are mentioned favorably, and the staff's ability to treat a variety of pets, both domestic and exotic, is noted.
Good communication is another strong point according to the reviews. Customers have received follow-up texts from the doctors themselves, which adds a personal touch to the service.
The hospital is open seven days a week, with varying hours, making it convenient for pet owners with different schedules.
From domestic to exotic animals, the hospital is equipped to handle a wide range of veterinary needs.
The option to make monthly payments is available, which customers find to be a financially viable option.
Some customers felt that the billing process could be more transparent, especially when it comes to honoring advertised discounts.
It's advised to stick with specialists for specific types of pets, as some reviews mentioned complications when a non-specialist handled a case.
The general sentiment towards VCA Hanson Animal Hospital is positive, with a few areas that could benefit from improvement. The hospital is lauded for its quality of service, flexible scheduling, and variety of treatment options, but some customers suggest that there could be more transparency in billing and greater sensitivity during emotional times.

if you want people with compassion, dont come here... yesterday me and my family had to put down our dog down... he was 14 and a half and he had become in-mobile and quickly deteriorating, they were nice enough to give us time to give us time to say goodbye. but five minutes after putting him down... waiting for a paw print to be made, a women comes knocking on the door asking for payment.... while my dog that just past, still on the table.. you would think that they would wait until everything thing is done and youre on your way out. honestly, worst experience ever! i couldnt go to my normal vets office because she wasnt in yesterday.. if i ever have a problem with any of my six other animals and cant see my regular vet i would seek an alternate animal hospital. wish i had said something to her, like "cant you wait, my dog is still laying on the table" but i was in utter shock that she had the guts. i dont care if its her job to collect but there is a time and place for everything. given that we just lost a member of our family and it wasnt just a small check up. i still cant even believe she didnt wait until we came out of the room. i have had many many animals in my life time and never once has someone knocked on the door for a payment no matter what the situation was big or little.

Yesterday I adopted Miley, a really sweet corgi mix from the Animal Rescue League in Boston. After research I decided to bring her to the VCA in Hanson for a free first exam as advertised on their website. I tried to schedule her free first exam online, but couldnt. I decided to bring her in to try to make an appt because I was worried that she hasnt been eating. Thankfully they were able to see her today. Miley got really scared when we got in the exam room. The staff was so great and brought a blanket to wrap around her and it really helped calm her nerves. The Vet and Vet Assistant were so friendly that Miley got 2 shots without even flinching! As for my concerns about Miley not eating, I was advised to try warming up chicken broth and mixing it with her food and it worked! Although I was really happy with the service Miley received, I was really disappointed when checking out. I had to blindly pay before receiving information on the services that I was charged for. Miley was pulling ready to go home so I didnt see the exam fee of $62.75 until I got home. I would have went to another Animal Hospital if I was told upfront that they would not honor their own advertising.

I HIGHLY recommend Hanson VCA! The way they work as a team to care for our kittens is incredible. It is clear that they have experience and they communicate with each other clearly. More importantly, they ALL treat my kittens with so much love. Its truly comforting knowing my kittens are in their care while there. I have been in to see 2 different Vets...both are AWESOME! I have received texts from the doctors themselves after major appointments (such as one kittens spay and the newest kittens first shots) to check in and ask if everything was okay. Its a great feeling to know we are thought of even when we are not there. One last comment...they will allow you to work out a pay plan. Making monthly payments rather than paying all at once is not only helpful financially for the immediate month, but it actually saves you A LOT of money by the end of the plan. I definitely recommend this plan! I hope this helps with making your decision on where to bring your pet!!

Hanson VCA could not be a more wonderful, warm place. We moved to the area very recently and our cat came down with something out of nowhere which was scary for us- we knew nothing about Hanson VCA aside from the fact that is was open today (Sunday) and that our cat needed help, so we were outside when the doors opened. Even though we didnt have an appointment, they listened to us, evaluated the cats symptoms, and determined that she needed to be seen sooner rather than later. They were so sweet with our little cat (who was scared) and put her and us at ease with how lovely they were with her. We are still waiting for the final read of the X-rays, but our cat is home with us, comfortable, and hydrated. We cannot thank them enough for the quality of care and attention to our cat and situation. You guys are the best.

We started to go to VCA Hanson after we got our second dog in July 2015, before we were going to Bridgewater Vet. Because I move around frequently, we have had to find new vets and I have to honestly say that VCA Hanson is the best. It doesnt matter which doctor you get, they are all great. We started with Dr. Williams then when she wasnt available we had Dr. Finney, then Dr. Oscar, and a new one last night that Ive never seen before Dr. Syngajewski. You can see that they genuinely love animals. They take care of pets as if its their own. If I have to move again, these group of doctors as well as the staff will be missed and expectations of the next will be hard to meet in my book!

Our family dog of 18 years, was rapidly deteriorating... no way in hell was i going to go to our "vet " in EB, i did not want our dog to be euthanized on a steel table...or attitude. even though Hanson was not my dogs vet, they helped me make a decision, counseled me , and assisted me in adjusting to my dogs needs... this is what we as a family needed...they followed our wishes for Thor to the detail. Outdoors, under a tree... in our arms was the way to be... Dr Finney was kind and compassionate. our dog passed w dignity and with honor. since... Hanson has been our Vet of choice for all 5 of our Pets. thru thick and thin.

I have been going to Hanson VCA for over 16 years and love the knowledge and care they provide. As far as what they charge, that has more to do with living in this part of the country. I am sure you can find a cheaper practice just as easily as you could find more expensive clinics but over all the prices are normal for this area. I cant recommend them enough!

I have been taking my dog to this VCA hospital for 3 years now. The Vets and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They offer excellent care for your pets that include both domestic and exotic varieties. They are mindful of costs and help you prioritize care.

Very friendly service, great vets though it depends on what type of pet you have. Make sure to stick with the specialists even for regular check-ups. A cat specialist did my brothers dogs post-op check & took out stitches too soon... Soo, yea. Careful!
