If you have a stray or injured animal you are unwilling to pay for bring it to the designated places or call animal control!! Dont bring it to an emergency facility then give them bad reviews for not doing what you want them to. Its not their job and it happens all the time. Sometimes if one of the employees are willing to pay for the treatment or adopt the animal then they can help it but they are unable to give free treatment. Its not heartless, thats just the way it is. Many times vets will remove the cost of their time (which is a small fraction of a bill) but they cant for everything that is used. That is property owned by the hospital and meds and anesthesia is expensive. They can do it sometimes with approval but there is a limit. Its terrible to beat down the people that devote their lives to animals and their welfare for something they really wish they could do. I promise the staff were more upset then all you complainers were and it would have been different if you "took them somewhere else", somewhere they are meant to get help in that situation. Dont be lazy and drive further or call around before showing up and dropping off. That is all on you.

If your thinking of bringing a stray here as a good samaritan your better off calling animal control. I brought an otherwise healthy kitten stray with a broken leg and tail into the facility when it was found in a parking lot. Common sense would render the explanation as being hit by a car. I told them I would try and work at getting it adopted and I wanted to know what they were going to do about him. I figured they would run tests to see if it had any fatal illnesses and if not, contact me to see if I wanted to pay for treatment or adopt it at the very least since I mentioned it. Instead they euthanized it within two hours of receiving because of the rabies risk of having an unknown wound of unknown origin and before I could call to check up. I highly suggest looking into other animal rescue facilities before bringing a stray here. Otherwise don’t waste your time and just call animal control.

I have been taking my dogs here for about 20 years. The emergency center, which is a different operation than the regular hospital is quite expensive, but I have found similar charges at Tufts Animal Hospital. The regular animal hospital is not inexpensive, but they have saved several of my dogs lives and I have found the staff to be very compassionate and caring. I now carry pet insurance on the dogs we have now. I checked with an animal hospital, which is much closer to our home and their prices were comparable and they dont have overnight staff. N.E.A.M.C. does have a team of qualified professionals, including veterinarians, there all night long. What is the sense in having a hospitalized pet, if there is nobody there to care for them?

We had to bring our elderly cat here to put him down because it was a weekend and our primary care vet was closed. They were absolutely wonderful. They explained everything to us, gave us options, saw him right away, and then walked us through the whole process. We were able to check out in the room so no one out front had to see us cry, and then brought our cat out to our car, cleaned and boxed up. We didnt have to do a thing. They were personable, so helpful, and gracious during a hard time. And to boot, they let our pets primary care vet know about the passing of our cat. Would recommend them to anyone!

My daughter took her kitten to this vet. They overcharged as compared to other vets in the area. They were not creative in trying to figure out how to determine the problem with this cat. My daughter spent $1,200 for a week of medical attention that resulted in no identified medical diagnosis. I eventually took the cat to my home and determined that it would digest fish and seafood commercial kitten food. The cat started gaining weight as I mixed the wet seafood with equal parts of water and she lapped it up.

We brought our cat there due to an odor coming from her mouth and some weight loss. They conducted blood work, discovering she had no kidney, liver, or other issues. The vet stated the odor was due to some minor tooth decay and recommended we have dental work done. One month later we brought her to have dental work done to another veterinarian and discovered she had a large growth under her tongue that was most likely cancer. She died within a week. It is unacceptable they would have missed this.

WOW!! This place is amazing, and I have probably been to every Vet/Animal Hospital in the RI & Mass area. Brought in Shanti for a consult with Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Forrest Townsend. Shanti is a young pup that we rescued from being put to sleep because she could not use her back legs. Dr. Townsend saw her and was a HUGE help determining our game plan for this angel. Everyone was fantastic. From the front desk to the Vet tech, Josh. Just awesome! 5 stars for sure

Brought our 13 yr old toy poodle there in the middle of the night , he was in heart failure and couldnt breathe. They gave him excellent care The staff is knowledgeable, compassionate and friendly. They really care about the animals . We dont have insurance and although it was an expense to have him in doggie ICU I feel their prices are fair for the level of care he received . Hes home now and doing well on medications. We are taking it one day at a time

I went here for an emergency situation with my dogs ears, they were infected, and I could tell he needed my help right away. Its a 24 hours facility, and this took place at 2 am. The vet and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and was a lot less money then I thought it would be, my dog has been doing a lot better since I got him checked out. I would highly recommend this emergency vet clinic to anyone.
