This vet is hard to work with and does not think in the interest of the pet. I moved to TN from Chelsea and needed to get heartworm medication for my dog. I had a test done which I paid a total of $75 for (visit+test) one month before moving. Living over 600 miles away from the clinic, I needed order the heartworm medication online to have it delivered. The vet refused to release the prescription to the online retailer, with no reason other than *we do not work with them*. I explained that I was not trying to take their business from them, that I just live so far away and have no other way to fill the prescription at this time. To save from the argument, I paid the vet for 6 months worth of the medicine and they mailed it to me. With 6 months passed, I needed the remaining 6 months of medication left on the prescription. I called again, and asked them to mail it as before. This time they told me I would have to pay them $4 shipping. I explained to them my circumstance and said that I would not pay them $4 shipping to put a $1 stamp on the 1 cent envelope just because they would not allow me to buy my pets medication elsewhere. They offered to transfer the prescription to my local vet in TN, but the local vet does not carry the brand my dog is taking. It is ridiculous that under these circumstances the vet is not thinking in the interest of the dog and will not allow me to purchase my medication the only way I can locally--through the internet that does not charge me any extra than me picking my prescription up from the local vet pharmacy. The vet will also not waive the shipping charge, stating it is a cost measure that they need to cover! This vet only cares about the money---Chelsea Animal Hospital does not care about my pet---I doubt unless you are willing surrender your money for inappropriate things that they will care about your pet, either.

Extremely disappointed in the service we received tonight. About 2 weeks ago we took our puppy in because of some post spay surgery irregularities we had noticed around the area where she was operated on. My girlfriend was told it was fine and that she was healing well. (Not the case). Now, fast forward 2 more weeks and we are experiencing what we consider an emergency (extreme swelling/redness). After calling the vet 20 minutes before closing time we were hit with a game of 21 questions and a 10:00am apt the next day. Now I get to watch my 6 month old pup restlessly move spot to spot out of clear discomfort for the next 13 hours and wonder. The fact that we just moved to the area and were already extremely nervous about which vet we would choose to help us care for our dogs and the outcome of this experience has been nothing short of infuriating and now I am nervous to even take her to her appointment tomorrow.

I adopted an English Bulldog that had very serious skin and infected ear issues. The issues were so severe you could not touch his infected areas without him whirling around at you in pain if you accidentally bumped his infected area. He is 7 years old and the previous owner claims she had seen several vets who could not help him. Dr. Rhode and I had a long initial visit about this dog. She gave him steroids, antibiotics, ear and skin ointments. She shaved the infected areas which I found amazing that she didnt have to put him out to do that. In the meantime, I also changed his diet to the Dinovite plan (online). Today this dog is entirely cured of his skin and ear issues and such a happy boy! Today this dog has NO skin or ear issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend Chelsea Animal Hospital. Their prices are also less then other vets I have dealt with in the area.

Weve been seeing Dr. Rode and the staff at Chelsea Animal Hospital since 2001. Everyone at the office from the vets to vet techs to office staff are friendly, competent, caring, and understanding. They cared for my "high maintenance" terrier for her entire life and helped us manage ongoing allergies and health issues, giving us advice and recommendations that took into her account both her needs and ours. She lived a long full life, and when it was time to say goodbye at age 14, Dr. Rode and her staff were very compassionate and loving. Chelsea Animal Hospital is of course now our vet for our second dog (who is still young and healthy) providing wellness and preventative care and advice as needed. I trust them 100% for both healthy dog visits, as well as any chronic or urgent care that may be needed in the future.

Ive gone to Chelsea Animal Hospital several times over the years and have been happy with the service every time. My dog has seen both doctors there (Dr. Rode and Dr. Critchfield) and theyve both been easy to work with and very competent. The vet techs are also great. I always felt like they cared about my dog and he received the treatments/medications that he needed. Prices were fine and they were always fairly easy to schedule appointments that met my schedule. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Have been taking family pets (including six cats, two dogs, and a couple of small rodents over the years) to Drs. Rhode and Critchfield at the Chelsea Animal Hospital for the past 15 years. Not only were our pets kept in excellent health, when their full lives were ending, the veterinarians also facilitated their passing with respect and compassion. Now, living in Wisconsin, I still bring my cat back for the holidays in order to get her annual check-up/vaccinations.

My sisters cat got extremely sick out of the blue and the people here were amazing. They called us all the time to tell us how he was and worked during their off hours to make him better. After that experience we moved to this vet permanently. Fantastic service.

We saw Dr. Rode for an initial visit with our brand new puppy. We were recommended to their office by a friend who has been happy with their services. Dr. Rode was great and very reassuring. We went home feeling much more confident about being new puppy owners!

We have been going to Chelsea Animal Hospital for years. We even moved away from the area, but I still make the drive to them. They are completely outstanding. I cannot imagine taking my pets anywhere else.
