I first heard about Home Insteead, Maple Grove when I was working as a Casemanager for an Emergency Service agency. I used to send people there for jobs or families that needed senior care for a family member. This was because of their excellant reputation. When I retirerd I had the opportunity to take care of my friend who had cancer. She wanted to stay in her own home as long as she was able. She was able to do that..Because I was with her the family was able to get the time they needed for respite care and jobs. I was able to observe the need and the importance first hand of what an impact that can make. When my friend died the decision I made to become a Caregiver was easy. Home Instead was the place I went to. The training I received to become a caregiver was excellent. Im starting my 5th yr.. The continuing offering of classes has prepared me for what each client needs . It maybe companionship, light housekeeping , personal care, and working with Alzheimers and Dementia clients. The classes for family members of Alzheimers and Dementia is also very informative and supportive. I appreciate that I have the ongoing support and encouragement of the office staff. This has been one of the most rewarding jobs I have had. I have realized the importance of " being with a person" and the blessing of making a differance in their day. The hearing of their life stories and the honoring of who they are..

The orientation and training I participated in to prepare me to become a caregiver at Home Instead Senior Care has been exceptional. When I met my first clients I felt ready to assist them in whatever they needed and I was confident that if I had any questions I was able to contact the Home Instead office to get answers and support. After working with some clients with Alzheimers disease, I completed the 8 hour Alzheimers training course and felt more than prepared to work with these clients. We were taught many topics by an experienced instructor who had first-hand experience with Alzheimers and related dementias. I would highly recommend taking this course for caregivers, family members and friends of those who have the disease. Home Instead has been an excellent place to work with seniors in the community and assist them with necessary tasks. The light housekeeping, errands, companionship and more we provide helps them be as independent as possible so they can stay in their own homes and live the way they want to. Some days are difficult for my clients, but at the end of each shift I am encouraged by their smiles and gratitude to return and make their next days as fulfilled as I can. I have been employed by Home Instead Senior Care for three years. Beginning with my first interview, the office staff has been stellar. I was welcomed with warmth by owners John and Kathleen Stuck, as well as the entire administrative and training staff. My initial training was comprehensive, and the ongoing training I receive is pertinent to the care I provide clients. The clients for whom I provide care have different needs and circumstances. For some I provide companionship, for others I assist in day to day activities from bathing, meal planning, and light housekeeping. I often drive clients to medical or other appointments. As varied the needs of Home Instead clients are, there are Caregivers with just as varied skills. Although each Home Instead employee differs in personality and gifts, we all share a love for helping those in need.
