Our relative needed care after a hospital stay so we investigated some facilities in our area. HCR Manor Care was readily available for a tour, care and cost information. The environment was clean, bright, and new-looking. A bed was immediately available and our relative settled in and the staff went to work: performing a medical assessment, and planning for physical, speech and occupational therapies. As our relatives stay progressed, our family was in constant contact with the staff who were always available. The medical care was first-rate and adjusted as our relatives condition worsened or improved. The CNAs were incredibly capable and kind. All the staff were extremely responsive, quickly answering the call light or familys requests. Staff morale seemed high; they seemed happy with their jobs and seemed to be well trained. The management seemed involved and present. We even met the manager working the front desk on a Saturday. The business office was professional and caring. As our relatives health declined and the end of life neared, the staff helped us transition to hospice care and the same expert and kind care continued to the end. In the short six weeks our relative stayed at HCR Manor Care we became friends with many of the staff who all shared in our grief, making it feel personal, even though they probably encounter it everyday. We would highly recommend this facility for rehabilitation care and nursing services.

My mother was a resident of Manor Cares skilled unit following a hospital stay and from day one my families experience was amazing! The entire staff was wonderful and they went above and beyond to make sure that my Mother was well cared for and at ease for the length of her stay. The management of this facility was very involved and present during the entirety of her stay, the facility Administrator even stopped in an visited with my Mother and introduced herself- IMPRESSIVE! All of the staff provided kindness and compassion in every encounter and all seemed to be very well trained and knowledgeable. I felt that they went above and beyond to ensure that the communication was clear and they always kept us up to speed on her plan of care so we were always informed of what to expect and what the "next steps" were. Their therapy team was FANOMINAL, that quickly became my Mothers favorite part of the day and would look forward to her time with her care team. The nursing staff were very skillful as well and really listened to what my parents had to say and took the time to answer any questions they had. The facility was very clean and comfortable, my Mom comes from a large family and frequently had visitors and they always went out of the way to accommodate her wishes and needs. I would highly recommend ManorCare for skilled or long term care.

Manor Care is a poor excuse for a "rehabilitation" center AND for long term care. They deserve NEGATIVE stars. All of these "4 star reviews" are given by management to save face. The Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) is there investigating numerous complaints FREQUENTLY! As of the week of 8/8/16 they are there investigating AGAIN! So, of course, they are on the "up & up" while State is there. But once they leave, its another cycle of horrible care, horrible nurse to patient ratios, idiot management and administration etc. Incident reports are falsely written in order to cover their a$$e$ & prevent any fines or tags from state. Press call light? Expect to wait around 20 minutes or more. Need your Nurse? Too bad, shes probably out smoking a cigarette. Complain to the administrator and the DON? Your given a line of BS because they have NO CLUE whats going on in their own facility. Need Dr Grunwald to visit your loved one? Too bad, he will sign charts, make up vital signs and document that they have been assessed by him, when all actuality he doesnt even see them. They have to staff this place with agency nurses because no one wants to work there. The turn over is pathetic. If you or a loved one is at Manor care, have the DIA on speed dial.

For a rehab facility this is nothing but a glorified nursing home. Housekeeping is done after 11:00 p.m. while patients are TRYING to sleep (tough to do with lights on & housekeeping making noise). Requested numerous times for bedding to be changed daily & it was not. Nurses rarely smile and only come to your room if you push call button....then it takes 20 minutes. Meals not served at posted scheduled time (up to 45 minutes late) resulting in incorrect temperature of food (which is not prepared on sight, but brought in like school lunch). Believe it or not but hospital food was better in taste, smell & appearance. Absolutely no recliners in the building, this makes sitting after an orthopedic surgery difficult when you dont want to be in smaller version of hospital bed 24/7. No private rooms. I left a voice mail message for the Business Office Manager yesterday (to voice my concerns & ask a few questions)....24 hours later I have yet to have a call back. Even though this is a newer facility so is clean I would NOT RECOMMEND.

Horrible follow through. They do not communicate with each other. The nurses are rude. It smells of urine. They do advocates for clients nor do they provide families timely information. The rooms are cramped and patients have no privacy. It is a warehouse for crappie insurance companies. Instead od doing what is in the medical interest of a client, they accept and do not challenge the insurance companies. My Mother is supposed to be discharged tomarrow. There is no paperwork no Doctors order yet the insurance company has informed my family payments stop tomarrow. We are taking my elderly Mother recovering major surgery home despite the recommendations of the surgeon and the physical therapist.

Great Facility to go for Therapy and a wonderful long-term ursing home also. I would definitely send my mom there again if she needed their services again. The facility has turned around alot since went about 2 years ago, wasent the worst but so much of a nicer place and way better nursing staff. Its Clean updated and has genuinely nice people working there. Some of the most compassionate care givers and Knowledgeable Nurses. The food is pretty good too. Fun patients and nice location, alot of near by stores and places to eat.I RECOMMEND MANOR CARE TO ANYONE THATS NEEDING THERAPY OR LONG-TERM CARE FOR THEIR LOVED ONE.

Absolutely the WORSE facility in IOWA - DO NOT GO THERE!!! They have no staff to care for your loved one, the rooms are small and no privacy and had I known today what type of horror show this place was I wouldve NEVER allowed my sister to be placed in this hell hole! My sister died while in this facility and this place should be shut down!!!!!!!!! Do not allow a doctor to place your loved one in this hell...do not allow anyone in this facility to care for someone you love they are a JOKE...your heart will only be broken if you do!!!!!!!!!! That I promise you!!!!!

This place is a joke no staff around and very little care!!! They need to be inspected and shut down, very dirty facilities and way under staffed. Didnt even get dinner till 6:45 Pm and roommate of the person I was visiting had to walk in and out to ask for his dinner!! No one should have to be subject to this kind of care!!!! Very disappointed
