On December 22, 2014 my Mom took my dog Moco to the Newport Animal Hospital. It was a very busy week for me at work because of the holidays. We told them that he wasnt feeling good over the weekend. He wasnt eating his food and that was a rarity for him. He also hadnt gone to the bathroom. They did a checkup and provided us with some medicine and sent him home. I paid them about 480.00 dollars. The medicine they gave him was supposed to help him go to the bathroom. We did everything they told us to and he still wasnt getting any better. He even got to the point where he couldnt even drink water. My mom and I had to give him water through a medicine dropper. He was so miserable and in so much pain that last weekend. We took him back to the Animal hospital on December 29, 2014. They said they needed to do an X-ray and that was about 140.00 dollars more. After the X-ray they told us he had something in there. They said they could do an ultra sound and it would be more money or they could just do surgery. They estimated the surgery would be between 1100-1200 dollars. We said ok. They performed the surgery and they said it was a tough one. He had a peach pit blocking his intestines and it was way in there. He survived the surgery and was doing good the Dr. told me but they were going to keep him for the day and observe him. I believe that whole week of me giving him a laxative and him not being able to get passed that peach pit is what caused him so much pain and caused the peach pit to get so embedded in his intestines. After he passed they cremated him but never asked me. After all that they told me the bill was over 2200 dollars. I just lost my wife in August and money was tight. He was her dog. I asked them why it was so much. That wasnt the estimate they gave me. The doctor said he had to speak with the owners for me to not have to pay so much. He called me back and told me they said no. I asked him if I could make payments on the bill and they said no. I never even got my dog back. I would have made payments every month if they would have let me. Looking back on it now with a clearer perspective they should have discounted the cost after killing my dog. To top it all off they sued my Mom and all she did was take him up for me so I didnt miss work. It wasnt her dog but they dont care. After all is said and done the bills around 5000 dollars.

"You Get What You Dont Pay For" We brought our pup here for an affordable neuter. I showed his required proof of rabies and the staff made a copy for their records. Upon pickup, the charge seemed higher than it should have been and when I asked for the breakdown, I found out that my dog was given a rabies shot he did not need. Absolutely unacceptable. In addition, the unnecessary shot only covers him for one year when the next Rabies shot he would have eventually needed was a three year vaccine. I take great care in implementing minimal vaccine protocols with my animals, I even test titers to ensure they are not over-vaccinated. Some animals are fatally allergic to vaccine suspensions, I thank God my dog is not one of them. I thank God for looking over him because the staff obviously wasnt. I was given a refund for the unnecessary $20 shot and an apology from some poor girl whose fault I doubt it was. Expect something like this to happen to you if you bring your animal here, it happened to me and my poor pup.

Great service! We had to bring our little guy here today because he was in extreame pain. Dexters an 8 pound Chihuahua. Not only did they get us in the same day, they moved up my appointment when I called a second time worried. After checking our dog and diagnosing that he had tweaked his shoulder (but had not broken it), they waived the assessment fee and only charged us $39 for his required anti inflammatory meds. Everyone was super friendly and a pleasure. We are here from out of town so this took minimal time out of our family vacation to make sure Dexter was ok. Thanks again!
