Worst vet in the world, and as a former veterinary technician and a current Biologist, I am in a position to know. The incompetent practices of this clinic infected my three cats with an antibiotic resistant upper respiratory infection. There are three possible sources of infection in a routine examination in an animal hospital. The technician who weighed and took my pets temperature, the doctor who examined her, or the exam room itself. (My husband took her and our cat was kept inside her carrier in the lobby, and therefore was not exposed while waiting to be seen). In any competent hospital, infectious animals are restricted to isolated examination and treatment rooms, and the employees use stringent self-disinfection methods (antibiological soaps and footbaths) prior to handling uninfected animals. Under no circumstances should my sweet kitty have been exposed to any disease. Possibly worse than that, the doctor prescribed *3 weeks* (an exhorbitant duration for any antibiotic regimen) of antibiotics for her flea allergy! An *immune response*!!! There is absolutely no medical basis or reasoning to prescribe antibiotics when no infection is present! A few days after her trip to the vet she was sneezing and runny-eyed. A few days after that, the other two were sneezing as well. We took them to the Emergency Clinic where they were prescribed antibiotics which proved ineffective, and were discontinued by their new vet after a week and a half. At which point the vet said there was nothing else to do. It is now a month later an my cats have not fully recovered. Worst Animal Hospital Ever. Dont go.

Horrible place, refused to treat my husbands dog as an emergency (1 hour before opening). The person who hit her brought her in and paid $200 to stabilize her then vet tech called and told us we had to be in there immediately or they refused to stabilize until someone came in, after the payment to do so. I explained that the dog was out with my husband when he was repairing his car( hence no transportation) when she got hit and I had to call around to find a ride. I was transferred to the vet who was extremely rude when I tried to explain about getting a ride there or waiting until the car was finished, he stated that we all have problems in the most condescending tone. I tried to ask about payments and said I need to check my balance before I could commit the $400-500 they wanted to just stabilize her. I was crying and very upset at being snapped at and had to give the phone to my husband. They got disconnected and then they called saying the dog had died because we had not paid for them to help her. I was still calling for a ride having just checked my bank balance and they just let her die by withdrawing treatment that had been paid for. Absolutely callous, rude people, money matters more than a pets life.. The dog deserved better and they didnt even give us 30 min to sort out everything.

I had all three of my dogs in to see Dr. Garlic a few weeks ago. Everyone from the staff at the front desk, the vet tech, to Dr. Garlic herself were just great. They were very affectionate with my big dog who is very excitable. They were very quite and gentle with my Shih Tzu that was rescued from being a puppy mill Momma and is extremely shy. The way they treated my Rat Terrier was just what she needed. A few days later when I had the Rat Terrier in for a spay and tooth extraction, I was very surprised to receive a call from Dr. Garlic to tell me how the surgery went and even more surprised when I got a call from Dr. Garlic on a Sunday to check on the Rat Terriers progress. You can not buy service like that. The passion these people have for animals is evident in all that they do. I will not go anywhere else.

When I moved to Eureka, I asked many people for a recommendation for a veterinarian. I heard Sunnybrae Animal Clinic over and over again. I have been taking my dogs and cat to them for several years. They are absolutely top notch. The facility is clean and modern, the staff is knowledgeable and caring, and the veterinarians are very skilled. When I had my cat euthanized, I was so impressed. We were given all the time we needed to say goodbye. A few days later, we received a beautiful rock with our kittys name engraved in it. Its not the closest animal clinic to my house, but I dont think Ill ever go anywhere else. One more thing - they are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week!

i normally take my puppy to myrtle ave because i live in eureka but after my little puppy had a terrible reaction to one of his booster shots i had to take him here since it was after hours and this was the only place open that night for emergencies. everyone was so great there, very friendly and helpful. the doctor was so sweet to my little pup, and she very quick to get to us. thank goodness because my little guy was COVERED in hives and his face was 3x the normal size :( doctor was right in, took him back real quick, gave his a quick shot or two and he was all fixed up and back to normal in no time and gave me my puppys little follow up pill free of charge :)

My experience here has been hit or miss. Some vets and technicians there are knowledgable and others are too fearful of animals. My dog has never bitten anyone in her life, but when the tech tried to take her rectal temperature she gave a tiny growl. This completely freaked him out, so he said he would have to take her into another room and muzzle her. After that, I listened through the wall for about 3 minutes as my dog howled in pain and terror like Ive never heard before. It is not that difficult to take a temp or draw blood, but being afraid and not confident will put animals on edge. Otherwise they seem ok. Seriously expensive, but I guess all vets are.

Im giving this place one star because I cant give it any less. My son brought his dog in because she was bit by a rattlesnake. They took his dog to the back and then a vet tech came out and told him that unless he gave them a $1500 deposit, on the post, they would not treat the dog. After some time, they agreed to give her a shot of antivenin while he had someone bring cash over to the vet. Banks are closed and these people are extorting money out of people while their animal lays dying in the back. When the desire for money overcomes the basic lifesaving treatment of an animal, youre in the wrong business.

Absolutely terrible from the start. Staff was extremely rude and stand-offish, not to mention condescending. I brought a cat who was barely a year old and covered in fleas who was about to become abandoned and they completely refused to see him. All I wanted was some general immunization shots and a treatment of flea meds and they pushed me out the door. I explained to them that this was the only clinic I was able to get to due to not having a car to which they cold-heartedly repeated their refusal. Do not waste your time or money on these people.
