I have taken my dogs and cats to Ferndale and Fortuna Veterinary for the last three years. I was scared at first, due to bad experiences at other vet clinics, but we had moved to Fortuna and making the commute back to our old vet was just not feasible, especially in emergency situations. When I moved to Humboldt a decade ago, every one said Sunny Brae was the only place to go (and they still do). I agree that it was very good, but my personal experience with Ferndale and Fortuna Vet has been far superior to the care we received at Sunny Brae. Dr. Flores and Dr. Johns have been not only knowledgeable, but also kind and thoughtful. They have seen us through some very stressful, and unusual, emergencies and urgent situations. They take time with the animals and never seem to be rushed. I cannot recommend these two vets enough. As well, their office staff and vet techs are always friendly and helpful. Special shout out to the Ferndale vet techs who have worked through the howling of our hound. Chetco sends his love.

Nothing can be harder for a pet owner than euthanasia. After 22 years of being by my side every night, my very senior kitty fell ill and reached the point of needing professional intervention. Ive had to make this call several times in my life, and each time has, as you could expect, been an almost emergent situation. On last minute, weekend notice, Dr Flores and his staff at Ferndale Vet were FANTASTIC at both the animal care and the human component, even taking our dog for a nail trim so she wasnt under foot while we said goodbye. From the true compassion on his face, his kind and soothing way, to the professionalism and communication of the procedures and the options available, the crew did a great job and made a painful event much less traumatic. Kudos. Ferndale Vet helped my little girl pass with dignity and peace, and the kitty parents were treated with kindness and compassion. I couldnt ask for more. Thank you for your care.

This review is regarding the office in Fortuna. We travel full time in our motorhome and happen to be in Fortuna WA when our 2 year old German Shepherd (Zeus) didnt appear to be his normal self. We called to see if we could slip him in quickly and the made room for him if we could bring him right in. 10-15 minutes later we were in the office and after getting signed in as a new customer were being seen by the staff. Dr Kenichiro Yoshida gave Zeus a very thorough exam and we discussed some of the reasons Zeus might have been a little off. Our conclusion was that Zeus was simply reacting to the previous days nearly 6 hour RV ride with several climbs, descents, twists and turns. Never the less, we felt better about Zeus and glad for the care he received. BTW, we didnt feel for a moment that the fact we were not established customers was a factor in our treatment as one Google review intoned.

Although Luna has general stranger anxiety, every employee does their best to make her comfortable. I am always pleased at the excellent care Luna receives, from registration, vet techs, vets, and anyone else who has had contact with her. All questions and concerns are addressed, both on the phone or at the offices. All my pets have received excellent care, "best practice" treatment, medications, and surgeries. I wouldnt take my pets anywhere else. A very, very belated and huge, heart-felt thank you to the entire staff who had contact with Maisie during her long illness. I would like to thank all the vet techs, registration staff, and vets, especially Chuck and Cody, for their excellent care and loving concern for Maisie, and their emotional support of me during that very difficult time.

Our little pup had a foxtail stuck in his ear on a sat evening. Our usual vet was closed so I called the ER number and was connected to dr. Renner. She was great! Answered all of my questions and didnt make me feel like I was bugging her. Brought our little guy there around 930 on a sat evening and was out of there before 10 and he was feeling like his old self. I am considering changing vets because I was so impressed with dr. Renner.

I know my dogs are in the best hands at Fortuna Vet. The staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Yoshida is a top notch veterinarian who has been treating my diabetic senior dog for some time now. Her body was crashing when I first took her in. Dr. Yoshida took appropriate actions, administered medications and a special diet. I am relieved to say Mimi is still with me and is a happy, comfortable girl again.

We absolutely love Fortuna and Ferndale Veterinary Clinics. They really care about your fur babies and do everything possible to help, while being realistic about treatments available and what the best course of action is for your pet. I have been taking my animals to them for over 11 years now and I feel we are extremely lucky to have such professionalism in the Eel River Community.

I have always been treated with respect. My animals have been thoroughly checked and cared for. It is the same with the Ferndale Vet Hospital that they are connected to.They have been there for emergency situations and offered me water when I locked my keys in the car. My only issue is that there is a temperamental tech working there but it takes all kinds to make the world.

Fortuna Veterinary has always been a great place. Even back to the Gary Hunter days. They have always been compassionate during the unpleasant visits and dont suggest a bunch of things. you dont need. They board very well too. Pets love the handlers there as witnessed by me when we saw one of the girls at the park, I did not recognize her but Juno did. Thumbs up!

I am new to Humboldt and was looking for a decent and not terribly expensive vet. They were so friendly, from the reception to the veterinarian. They really cared about my puppy and they have decent prices. I even got a care package for my furry baby. He did not even realize he was getting a shot, because they gave him a treat and pet him the whole time.

Our dog decided to eat plum pits and had to stay the night and be cared for there. She came home doing well and she seemed to be calm, which is not how she generally comes home from boarding or the Vet. This was our first visit and we intend on making this our Vet from now on. Excellent reception help and great doc and vet techs.

Our dog got shot, and they refuse to take us, because they are not our regular vet. And you call that carring for animals? You should be ashamed of yourselves. And maybe quit your job, because you shouldnt be treating animals with this attitude.
