Nice vet and cares about the animals. More expensive than other local vets, but unfortunately not more of an expert in cats despite being exclusive to them. Stopped taking my cat here after was diagnosed with diabetes. This vet had me using urine strips to test his diabetes levels rather than blood sugar testing and if you ask pretty much any other vet they will tell you urine testing is wholly inaccurate (which is why it is not used on humans). I was told diabetes was in remission and to stop insulin treatment and to check his urine sugar levels weekly. I could not tell based on the urine strips how he was doing and told them that, but they did not seem concerned. He ended up getting DKA and the hospital bill cost me $5000. I took him to this vet just before taking him to the hospital and he was only there for one hour and had a blood test and it cost me $250. She told me to either take him to the hospital or put him down. Told me my cat was complicated. The hospital brought him back to health and I took him to a different local vet who recommended changing his diet to high protein-low carb and doing frequent blood sugar curves. The cat is now doing much better and his diabetes is almost in remission. The Cat Doctor seems to check fructosamine levels rather than glucose, I was told by another vet that checking fructosamine is not the most up to date way of testing. Asked the vet to help compensate me for the expensive hospital bills because I felt like this was partially their fault. I was refused. I will be avoiding this vet in the future and advise the same unless you want to pay more money and only have simple things done. There are other local vet clinics with more expertise in the area.

We recently went to the cat doctor for treatment of a vaccine associated sarcoma in our cats leg. From the first visit and diagnosis/treatment planning, through the surgery to amputate his hind leg and prevent further spread of the tumor and the follow-up "hospitalization" and out-patient visits, Dr. Young and her staff have been nothing short of amazing. She has a wonderful way with cats, had a very positive but aggressive attitude towards treatment, and has endless patience for answering questions, offering thorough advice and information, and following through with every last aspect of treatment, including helping us to get the vaccine company to reimburse us for a large part of our costs. Deborah and Sarah, two of her staff members, were especially helpful as well, and it is obvious that everyone who works there has a special relationship with cats, making it a great place for treatment of serious issues, as well as regular check-ups. I cannot recommend the Cat Doc of Dover enough!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Before moving out of NH, Dr. Young and her staff took care of 4 of our beloved family cats over 10 years. Dr. Young is wonderful; very caring and kind and takes time to explain everything. I will never forget the compassionate care they provided to me and to our elderly cats when it was time to say good-bye to them. She was amazing with every issue that my cats encountered including oral cancer, kidney problems, and recurring dental needs. You will never regret choosing this practice for all your cats medical care and needs!

Dr. Young and her loving staff have cared for my two cats (sisters) for 7 years. When one developed kidney disease they provided expert care and advice for home care. When it came time to "put her to sleep" it was done in the most respectful, gentle, and loving way imaginable. They sent a donation in her name to an animal foundation and mailed me two Memorial cards. In the nearly 60 years I have had cats no vet has even come close to the Cat Doctor of Dover!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats what my kittens said the first time they met the staff and doctor at the Cat Doctor of Dover. Everyone treats them like they were their own. I could not image taking them anywhere else. My kittens will be celebrating their first birthday and I feel the Cat Doctor of Dover helped me get them to be very happy and healthy. Thank you!
