Yes, Dr. Macomber is an animal person. She is definitely not a people person. I started taking my two cats to her because her prices were most reasonable. The first time I went there, I got right into the examination room but waited there for 15+ minutes. I felt a little bit rushed but I noticed how kind and gentle she is with my cats so I didnt necessarily pay it any mind. More recently, I had asked my boyfriend to take my cat to the vet for me since I was out of town. They called 1 hour before the appointment asking to move the appointment to a later time. I had my boyfriend change his schedule to accommodate Dr. Maycomber. He showed up twenty minutes early just to make sure he was there on time and Dr. Maycomber snapped at him in front of the people in the waiting room. She said "What are you doing here??" and my boyfriend replied, "I was told to come in for a later appointment, Im a few minutes early." Dr. Maycomber rolled her eyes and walked away. She would yell at her receptionists and give them attitude right in front of customers. It made everything extremely awkward. I feel so bad for the poor girls who work there. They called me just this past week to change, yet, another appointment because they overbooked again and I told them I couldnt. I was so aggravated by the fact that they clearly dont know how to schedule themselves properly and I decided to switch back to my old vet, which I absolutely love, they are just a little bit pricey. When I called Dr. Maycomber back to see if she could send my records over to the new vet, she begged me not to leave and I told her I just needed a place a little more reliable. Her attitude instantly changed and she rudely told me she didnt have time to fax the records anytime soon and hung up on me. Yes, she may be an animal person which is great and very important.. but Id rather not deal with her attitude, the way she treats her employees, and the unreliable appointments.

About a month ago we had a Chimpmunk get caught in a mouse trap. I was able to get it out of the trap and it was shivering uncontrollably.. I put it in my hands and warmed him up. Went and bought a hampster cage. Our hope was that he would recover and we could set him free. Unfortunately the trap hit his head area and he could not walk in a straight line. No broken bones and he could run, eat, pee, poop and all just could not walk straight. After 3 days we decided we should seek out a vet that could maybe nurse him to health (If possible) as we really were limited. We brought him to Granite State Animal Hospital. They said they could not promise anything but would try. We requested to take him back if he does recover so we can release him at our house where he is familiar with. I got a call today saying he was ready for pickup... so amazing.. The staff here are fantastic and a cannot thank them enough for their help..

While you may have to wait for your appointment as they are often very busy, Dr. Macomber and her staff are dedicated to the well-being of all your pets. I admit, the first visit felt a bit rushed. However, weve been back many times now with our rescued dog who has some issues, as well as our cats. She has taken wonderful care of our dog. She and her staff are always willing to answer questions over the phone and the charges are very reasonable. Someone said that the estimate for charges was off by a lot - it happens as you never know what is going to be found during surgery, etc. Even if the estimate is off, rest assured you are getting the best quality care at the most reasonable price around. I highly recommend Granite State and Dr. Macomber!!

My cat had somehow chased and cornered a beautiful Northern Flicker woodpecker near our house. The bird definitely had an injured wing and couldnt fly. After caring for it the best we could over the weekend, I made several calls to supposedly "professional" agencies and others who were supposed to be in the business of helping wild birds. Wow, what a disappointment. They seemed totally disinterested and one actually chastised me for not knowing how to care for this bird! Then I called the Granite State Animal Hospital and they were nothing but kind and helpful!! What a great experience. The bird appears to be making a complete recovery and will hopefully be returned to the wild. Thanks to all the staff there!

Dr macomber is a good vet. thats it. she is too slow. understaffed. the staff is poorly trained too-she yells at them & pushes them aside so she can complete tasks faster. she takes a long time to see your pet & a quick appointment takes more than an hour. if you have a bird, please see her. she is obsessed with them and knows a lot about them.

Horrible I have a baby bird and rejected it because the "close soon " any person not willing to spend a couple of extra minutes to try and save him is heartless never gone here before but from that I do not want this person going near my animals go else where

Drove an hour + to get to here for my parrot and it was worth every second. She is amazing with birds, caring, and so knowledgeable. Received lots of great advice. She spent a ton of time with us and clearly cared. Rates are very reasonable.

I was running five minutes late, called them with notice and they said it was no problem. I arrived to sit in an EMPTY room with no receptionist for 35 minutes for them to tell me they couldnt see me because I was late.
