I fell on ice and I waited to come in thinking it would be so bad, and I wanted to celebrate Valentines Day with my wife.. turns out it started bruising and the pain started getting worse. So I came in and told them everything that had happened. I mentioned my fall and that my hip and thigh was bruised and I was in excruciating pain. I also have lupus and oversensitive nerves so most of my body was in pain and inflamed at this point. I also mentioned being nauseous. I was examined by a PA (though I would prefer an actual MD) and advised I would be given a pain pill and nausea pill. I took them both and was immediately taken to X-ray. Right after having that done, I vomited twice. The pain pill came up but the nausea pill did not because it was dissolvable, but obviously did not work. I asked my wife to ask the nurse (who was extremely nonchalant from the minute I got there as if he was just dying to go home and hated his job) he said he would talk to the doctor. Twenty minutes later, nothing. So I asked my wife to ask again, he said he talked to the "doctor" (I put quotations because she is NOT a doctor) and that she said that she would not give me an IV because it was not necessary and that I couldnt have any other pain pills because of my vomiting. I was simply told to wait while in tears from all the pain. I then had my wife help me up to leave and helped get me dressed (because at this point I couldnt even walk on my own) and left. I went to another hospital where I got much better treatment and was actually listened to. This is a very good hospital, if you get a nurse that likes their job and cares and if you get an actual doctor. I left that hospital in more pain than I was in when I got there. A waste of money and time and especially a waste of an insurance claim. I am on narcotics daily for pain (like I mentioned earlier I have lupus so I take Norco and Ultram everyday for pain management) I didnt come here for some kind of high. I came here to see if I had a fracture and to get something for nausea and some pain control since I didnt have any of my medications with me. Wouldnt take dog here if I didnt know exactly who would be the treating physician and nurse.

If there was a negative star for the Pediatric ER I would give it. ****I had a great experience with my delivery at Saint Barnabas the maternity staff docs and nurses were amazing as well as with the NICU staff days later . **** I am not able to review departments seperately and my experience in the pediatric ER a few days later was awful. I arrived at the emergency room with my daughter who was just 4 days old as she was going to the bathroom a lot throughout the night and her bilirubin had been high. The doctor in the ER never even spoke a word to us he had a nurse handling our case and I was extremely unhappy with her and her handling of my daughter . The nurse advise that she had to draw blood to test the babies Bilirubin when she took out supplies to blood from her arm I questioned her as this had been done multiple times by hospital staff from her heal. She had her bilirubin tested on two different occasions at the lab in Saint Barnabas and while I was hospitalized (all times the blood was drawn from her heal with no issues) The nurse said This was the best way.... Well after jabbing my daughters arm and having her scream (which she never did when blood was drawn from the heal) The nurse couldnt get any blood from her arm she then tried both her hands to get blood out of which she had difficulty doing at that time she told me that the child was dehydrated and told me to give her a bottle which they provided to me (Once admitted to the NICU I was told that my child WAS NOT dehydrated). The nurse managed to get enough blood to send out for a bilirubin test after having poked my 4 day old infant in her arm and both hands unnecessarily. the NICU where the staff was wonderful and low and behold when they tested her bilirubin it was drawn from the heal. A staff member even told me that they had never heard of a nurse putting a line in a 4 day old infants arm or hand to test for bilirubin when it is quickly and virtually painlessly done from the heal. Also there was a nurse or dr in the ER who was very sick coughing and joking about having the Zika virus which i thought was very unprofessional...why come to work so sick a risk getting others sick

Today I was absolutely appalled and disgusted by the care given to my father at this hospital. My father is a diabetic who was suffering from severe constipation and urine retention due to his medications. After putting in a Foley catheter to relieve the initial pressure from the urine retention, it seemed like all care stopped there. We were told by the doctor that my father would be released and to do an enema at home which we explained had been tried already and not worked. There response was "well this is an ER, and we arent here to watch your father go to the bathroom." This response was said with a sarcastic and foul tone. After explaining that my father has atrophy in his hands and is alone most of the day, and would be unable to give himself an enema, they agreed to give him an enema and insisted that we leave immediately after. After the enema was given, NOT ONCE did a nurse or physician come to check on my father or help him to the bathroom. I had to act as my fathers nurse and guard the bathroom for him while he tried to relieve himself which was unsuccessful. Discharge papers were thrown in my face to sign for my father and that was the end of it. No one even helped clean him up after defacating on himself. That job was left to me. ABSOLUTELY INHUMANE treatment of a patient in need of medical attention. My father was treated like a number and a dollar sign $$$, not a patient. And it didnt end there. I was left to help my father out of the hospital with ZERO assistance from any staff. My father was extremely weak at the time as well. This establishment should be ashamed of themselves as should the nurses and doctors working in the Triage Unit. The lack of respect and care given was unjust and uncalled for. I hope this message reaches the higher ups at the hospital and I would request a response back. - Disgusted Family Member

Worst nurse ever - Sharon Let me start by saying that the residential doctors and specifically a nurse name Sharon are the worst ever! If you are con in going to this hospital be warned... stay away from getting induced labor regarding to having the balloon and specifically with the nurse named Sharon who is extremely rude and has no regard to the pain that you may go through. My wife was induced at this hospital with the balloon procedure. The residential doctor try to insert the balloon without giving my wife a cervix softner nor a Tylenol drip... the moment my wife was feeling pain he should had stopped (tried it for 15-20 mins straight) ... my wife was in so much pain (worst than actually giving birth) that i almost passed out and Im a combat vet... it took another residential doctor (female) to do it with quick success... The worst of all was the nurse named Sharon. My wife didnt want to have an epidural and the moment the nurse found out she became a fu<%i"g b!tc$. Blaming my wife that she was in pain... walking away during her contractions... giving us an attitude throughout the whole time... wouldnt let me hold my wifes legs when pushing... making us feel that we were going to lose our son because his heart rate was dipping... wasnt answering our concerns... wouldnt give her a Tylenol drip when asked... and lack of directions... they didnt even give her a sitz bath... just absolutely horrible experience...
