I went to the emergency for severe pelvic pain. My husband and I were nervous because we had just had a miscarriage 13 weeks ago. But I couldnt distinguish between my pains being gastric related or reproductive issues. Once I was seen, the nurse told me not to be alarmed but my symptoms were of appendixes. After my CT and radiology scans. A group doctors came in to examine me. One by one they asked me questions of past surgeries and history. I answer them. Still in sever pain. They do more poking and prodding on my body; I dont mind as long as they will eventually figure out what and how to treat the pain. One doctor (ER) tells the nurse to do one thing. He leaves and then the next doctor (Dr. Powell) tells my husband and I the complete opposite. After telling the doctor (Dr. Powell) what the other doctor (ER) told the nurse not to do, her response was well, that is not true. I dont know why he would say something like that. She shook her head in disgust. This was the first of many inconsistencies. Once the scans come back and read fine and normal and my labs read the same...Dr. Powell and her colleague decided to keep me for observation because I was in so much pain. She said she wanted me on a clear diet. They treated me with antibiotics and pain relievers. Well...After having to hound down the nurse because my IVs werent working or the nurses wouldnt give me my medication at the right time. I was always paging the nurses station because my IV machine was digging because it was empty. Id also be paging because shed be gone for hours and I was in so much pain. Every meal I received was not clear. I told the nurse that the doctor (Powell) requested I be on a clear diet and the nurse said that the orders do not state that. After 12 hours of being in my room still in pain but not as sever--probably due to being highly medicated on dilotted and Percocet. The doctors (dr. Powell, Ryan and old Jewish guy) tell me I am fine and need to go home and be treated on antibiotics from home. I asked what caused my pain. They said they are assuming from my history that it is a reproductive problem. They arent sure. But my labs are fine and I dont have a fever so Ill be fine. I explained that my labs were fine when I walked in. That I didnt have a fever when I walked in. Just a lot of pain. I still have it. Just not as bad because of the pain medication. I asked why havent they check to see if it is Gastric Inflammation? Dr. Powell said well, I am an OBGYN and cant help you there. You need to call to get a referral to see one. I am in the emergency hospital for goodness sake. I asked her about the clear diet she requested for me. And she rolled her eyes and said wow. No one listens to me here. I left still in the pain I had when I first walked in. I was treated like I dont understand my body. And the only solution they had was to see them at their private practice in 3 weeks. No way. There were so many displays of inconsistencies that Ill never go back to this hospital again. I dont trust them.

I had my son at overlook in July of 2014 and LOVED the nurses and doctors I encountered. So in September of 2014 when his breathing was labored and I got worried it was natural to me to bring him to overlook ER. My son has been covered with medical insurance since birth and yet somehow I am being sued for that visit for $1800. Their lawyers office has called me non stop for months and the representative is very cut and dry and nasty. I am a hard working single mom, I work six days a week. I cannot afford almost $2000 for a bill that should have been covered. I called the hospital to see what happened and they are claiming that when I brought my son in I DECLINED to give them his insurance card. THAT IS COMPLETELY UNTRUE. Why in the world would I ever not give you his insurance info? I know I cant afford hospital bills!! Now the lawyers office is trying to get a judgment to levy my accounts (which I dont have much in) and literally take food out of my babies mouth!! Im disgusted. Youre coming after a mother who in her worry didnt even realize that NONE of your staff requested the card and then when they realized their mistake began mailing bills... But guess what?! They were too incompetent to get a correct mailing address and had one from 10 years ago!! So I never got the bills in time to dispute them or send them to the insurance company. When I called in November of 15 to get a new bill mailed out to send to insurance they STILL DID NOT SEND ONE. Now its too late to do that. And the lawyer just called again and made me cry. I will not be having my second child with overlook when and if that day comes.

I wanted natural birth but my OB didnt notify me until last minute past due date that my baby was breech, so I was given no choice but to have a c-section. the nurses took excellent care of me, they treated me very well. they would bring my baby to my room whenever i asked for the baby. the complimentary food was great also. On the last day i should have refused to see the student, she was the only thing that made my last day there a little unbearable (while healing from a major c-section surgery). The lactation consultants were horrible, they were most likely wanting to get further business from me, so they were trying to prove that Im unable to nurse my baby, or my baby doesnt know how to nurse. Most well babies know how to nurse, they nurse in small cycles, and that is good because if they nursed too fast, it hurts a lot. but the lactation consultants throw unnecessary sugar water which is bad, i never want my baby to get used to sugar from that early age. sugar rots teeth, it makes kids hyperactive, it has a lot of empty calories, makes people fat and introdues a lot of diseases in life. and the stupid lactation consultants keep insisting that sugar water should be given , to entice te baby. Instead of sugar water use formula, until the baby gets used to nursing. Also nursing becomes difficult if the breasts are engorged too much. Use breast shells to hold leaking milk, otherwise it spills all over the hospital gown.
