I was involved in an autobile accident with a passenger. The idiot that hit me destroyed the passenger side leaving my passenger with injuries. We were transported to RWJU Hosital in Rahway by ambulance. I had a laceration that needed stitches but this physician assistant that treated me decided that my wound was not deep enough to be stitch. When I went for my follow up with a medical doctor, he asked why you didnt get stitches. I told him that a physician assistant at RWJ said that I didnt need one. Enough about me because I have premium health insurance and could go anywhere but my passenger did not have private health insurance because shes an international student and it was summertime, no school (not covered) so she was treated differently although it was an auto acident. My passenger was barely seem, like she wasnt even there. She complained about pain but it felt on death ears. I believed that she got this type of treatment because she did not have private insurance. A couple of weeks later, she received a bill in the mail for over a thousand dollar. I dont know if its just this hospital or the whole medical system is scam, but wow! My auto insurance company settled the bill but prescribing over the counter pain medication, which was all that the physician assistant did, cost a thousand bucks! I could have an accident/emergency in front of RWJU Hospital in Rahway and I will request to be seen somewhere else.

My friends mom was in ICU . She had her foot amputated due to a break and complications due to diabetes. She contracted MRSA after the surgery and was on heavy duty anitbotics. The nurses in ICU were great. Then without even notifying any family member ( who has power of attorney and was supposed to be notified ). Moved her to the second floor. She was scheduled for surgery tomorrow but that is now on hold because apparently the second floor nursing staff didnt read her chart which would have told them the medication she needed. The "traveling nurse" did the best she could do by hanging the antibiotic IV bag from the TV since there were no IV hangers available. How could that be? Unfortunately because she hadnt had her medication in over 24 hours her white cell count is back in the 30s due to MRSA and should be around 11. Maybe because shes elderly and on Medicare? I dont know. Please, if you have to use that hospital be diligent. Ask questions. Stay on top of things because if you dont your loved one will suffer the consequences. I realize theres only so much they can do, but having to hang the antibiotic bag from the TV doesnt sound like an accredited hospital to me.

back in 2007 i went to the ER for a really terrible sunburn. I was regnant at the time and i could barely walk because the back of my legs were burnt to the point where even moving or standing would stretch my skin and it was agonizing pain. the doctors gave me nothing, although there are some pain medications pregnant women can take for short times. yet when i got my hospital bill it said that i was given a percocet. when i called this in, nothing was done about it of course. I visited the hospital again after a car accident after i had been rear ended. they were friendly. Although one of the staff members was harassing the male staff member who was signing me in and taking my info saying he wasnt doing his job or something. I cant remember his name, but he was a heavy set white male, and extremely friendly. The lady yelling at him however was very unprofessional. this was about a year ago. If you have a problem with your staff members, such things should be discussed privately.

Unfortunately, I had the pleasure of meeting some of these nurses and staff, and long and behold the staff on the 3rd floor At that Nurses Station is the Pits..Theyre not only disrespectful to each other, yelling and being short , with the techs ,but to visitors as well. If you ask a question, the staff is short with you, and immediately let you know that, He/She is not their patient and blow you off and act as if their disgusted with you , because you asked a question in the first place.. Some of the staff here bedside manner is just god Awful ..Not to Mention MEDICATION left out in the open on Nurses Cart unattended to while they attend meetings that they say is only 5 minutes long which turn out to be 45 minutes long.. And last but not least of course 2 of the medications that was needed for a patient wasnt available.. ONE THING I CAN SAY NURSE VICKY took Good Care of My Mother.. AND I THANK HER SO VERY MUCH!!!

This is THE DIRTIEST hospital I have ever been in and trust me I have rotated through a lot (I am a pharmacist). I am very concerned about how unkept this place is. The bathrooms had toilet paper on the floor and stains everywhere (I went to 3 different ones before deciding to just hold it). They placed my sister in a room with gauze and alcohol swabs on the floor and a container of someone elses pee on the table! When they "closed" the curtain to her room the curtain was too short to cover everything, so everyone walking by can see her. The bed next to her was unkept and no one came to make it in the 4hrs she stayed there. The nurses were all sitting down laughing even when her pain escalated no one came to see what was going on until I asked. The doctor took forever to come see her and the service was very mediocre. I mean I guess I shouldnt expect more from a hospital that is located in a garbage state

My sister was admitted following a cardiac arrest while driving. The Emergency Department staff followed the latest protocols regarding use of a cooling mattress which she did not need because she started to "wake-up" in CT scanner. The Critical Care Unit staff provided exceptional medical care and took time to communicate with family members present and far away. The cardiologist performed a diagnostic cardiac catheterization and immediately spoke to us about the findings. The staff of the Telemetry Unit were extremely helpful and competent. The diagnostic procedures were done quickly and efficiently. In less than one week she was transferred to St Michaels for the implantation of a biventricular defibrillator and pacemaker and discharged the following day. Parking was convenient and inexpensive at $2.00/day. Neighborhood was nice and safe. EVERYONE was friendly and helpful! Thank you

Wow! I had an out patient procedure there a few weeks back. From the moment I walked in until the moment I was released by being wheeled out the front door, I was impressed. I came in contact with a minimum of 8 staff, each one better than the next. They handed me off from one to the next flawlessly. If I didnt know I was in RWJ Rahway Hospital, Id have believed if I was toldI was in an exclusive hospital for VIPs. Well done team, I hope you know that your hard work is being noticed. It was a pleasure and you all did a great job. Its clear to me how hard youre trying to be the best you can be. Very very impressive!!! What you staff members all may be interested in knowing as well is that I asked a number of you why its such a great hospital, and you all had the exact same answer "I love the people I work with". Great stuff.
