THIS IS THE MOST TERRIBLE HOSPITAL YOU CAN EVER BE AT, ESPECIALLY THE PROCESS OF COMING HERE TO DELIVER YOUR BABY. PLEASE NEVER COME HERE TO DELIVER YOUR BABY. I will first start of by telling the story of what happened to my aunt. (If you are too lazy to read this, long story short: my aunt almost died because of the poor way the care and treat their patients) Friday morning (10/9) she came in to deliver her baby since her baby was due October 4th. This baby is a slow one, and they tell her shes going to be induced and that process would start at 3pm. But nooooooo, this stupid doctor is elsewhere, not even in the hospital, and comes back at 7pm to induce my aunts preganancy. And its common sense that keeping the baby too long in the womb is bad for the baby. While my aunt is waiting, shes very uncomfortable and wants to walk, sit up, eat, and go to the bathroom. But of course these nurses are the worst as they can be, and only give a little soup while rushing her to eat it and let her use the bathroom and telling her shes only has 2 minutes to use it. And when she wants to sit up the littlest bit, they tell her no, even if shes is very uncomfortable. During all of this, they just give her the most tiniest amount of ibuprofen to deal with the pain. And this just a continues until Sunday morning (10/11) when the baby was born. So the baby is born and shes moved down to the family rooms, where family can come visit. We get here, and its 5 adults and 2 toddlers to visit, and they only allow three people at a time, and this room is big but no only 3 people. Anyways, its my cousin and Is turn to come in. Everything is fine at first, and my aunt gets really bad contractions, at first she is dealing with the pain like a champ, but she then gets to a point where she couldnt handle it anymore. She calls the nurse and tells her shes in really bad pain, and bleeding heavily and my aunt keeps telling us that she feels faint/very dizzy and that she cant handle the contractions any longer. Then she faints and starts moving and contracting her body in such a way like if she was having a seizure, which she was. And the nurse is no where to be found, I physically have to run out of the room and then I find the nurse taking her own precious time walking down the hallway to where my aunt was, and tells me "yes I know shes in pain" in the most annoyed tone Ive ever heard. I have to scream at her that my aunt dying and shes doing nothing! She literally does not realize the severity of this situation until she sees my aunt. By this point my family is already crying and also screaming to the nurses to come in here and help. We get rushed out of the room and finally my aunt gets the help shes been wanting and asking for, for the past 15 minutes shes been calling the nurse. And theyre acting as if nothing was serious and this has been all a joke. Finally my aunt is relieved of her pain and we walk in. A few minutes later the doctor walks in and my aunt tells her "I almost died" and the doctor laughs at her and goes "yeah" We are still now physically complaining to the nurses of how bad theyve taken care of my aunt, and they wont even apologize. NEVER COME HERE TO HAVE YOUR KID, ITLL BE THE WIEST EXPERIENCE EVER FOR YOU.

If it were possible to rate this dump a ZERO I would! I went there with symptoms of a stroke and after 8 hours plus in the ER they told me although you didnt have a stroke your doctor wants you admitted for more tests. (JFK wanted to release me! I did in fact have 2 minor strokes.) After waiting and waiting and waiting for a bed, (I was told none were available!) I got fed up and said I was going to leave when low and behold a bed became available---but no transport! I was so angry I said I would WALK to the room--which I should never have done as doing so caused a 2nd minor stroke!) I then went to the stroke unit--which was filled with empty beds. I was finally put in a room at 1:15 am and my roommate had visitors--3 of them and they were laughing and joking and talking very loud. When asked to be quite they called the nurse a name, laughed and kept talking! So off to another room! The next day the tests started and the tecs were wonderful and transport was great and the doctors were fantastic, even the food service was on top of things--but the nursing----UNBELIEVABLE! When you rang the call bell you were lucky IF, IF they answered it at all! I am not joking! Minimum wait time was around an hour for them to get around to you--IF they got around to you! I was to be escorted because of my stroke but I was left on my own! I was not washed for 3 days, nor was my gown changed and my bedding was not changed! If I wanted to brush my teeth I had to make my way to the bathroom myself! When someone was moved into my room who had a machine that sounded a particular loud alarm every 10 minutes or so I was given ear plugs! I had to request a new room--and when that didnt happen I had to get out of bed and find a new room! My roommate was 95 years old and he was complaining of numbness in his left arm. He was told a nurse would be right with him--45 minutes later, after NO sign of a nurse I had to go to the nurses station and tell them that a 95 year old man needed them! When I complained that I was unhappy with my care the nursing supervisor just looked at me as if I was annoying her--even though I told her I did not feel safe and was worried for my health--she could not have cared less. I would say half of the nursing staff is working too hard to compensate for the other half that simply lost interest due to bad working conditions. Also, in 2 of the 3 rooms I was in the air conditioning did not work--and it was one of the hottest weeks of the year. I was offered a beat up old fan. I asked them to call maintenance and according to them they called 7 times--but nobody ever showed up! After I got released the nightmare continued. I asked to have some reports ready for a doctor visit I had--I HAD to have these reports and I was assured that the reports in question were in the envelope I picked up. Needless to say when I arrived at my doctors appointment, they were not--costing me a wasted trip! The topper was I asked to speak to one of the Neuro doctors who treated me because I still had a persistent headache, I was told doctors do not call people but to go back to the ER instead! UNBELIEVABLE! Do NOT go here or send a loved one here! You will be sorry if you do!

JFK For Life Bariatric Program Is Excellent and deserves all 5 Stars!!! The JFK For Life Bariatric Program has given me back my life!!! I met with my surgeon, Dr. A. NiHalani, in May of 2011. I had met with other bariatric surgeons in the past who felt I was too much of a health risk for surgery, and I was told they could not help me. I will always be grateful to Doctor NiHalani. He listened to my health history and did not dismiss me. Besides my family and friends, Dr. NiHalani has always been very supportive of my weight loss and achieving better health. I met with Dr. NiHalani throughout 2011 and much of 2012. On June 13, 2012, I had Gastric Bypass. Dr. NiHalani continues to be one of the most compassionate and supportive doctors I have the pleasure to know. My earliest memories of being overweight was when I was in Pre-School/Kindergarten. Happy or sad, I was able to eat. In order to cope with stressors in my life, I used food as comfort. Being involved in the “JFK For LIFE Bariatric Program”, I am learning to change my behavior and find other outlets for stress. I am 42 years old, and I was a prisoner in my own body for most of my life. Since my diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes at the age of 15, my health spiraled out of control. Besides taking multiple insulin injections, I was on numerous oral medications for Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, High Cholesterol, Gerd, Slow Thyroid, and Depression. I also developed sleep apnea and I was prescribed a special continuos positive airway pressure machine. In other words, I was on Deaths Doorstep. This program not only helps you find a tool to you lose weight, it offers many services to help you care for your entire mind, body, and spirit. This program does not end after your surgery. You are given support throughout your weight loss journey. It is a wonderful life long program! The support that I have been given and continue to receive at the “JFK For Life” program is such a blessing whether I am going to my follow-up Doctor/Nutritionist appointments, support groups, and/or exercising in the JFK gym. Words can not fully express the gratitude I feel for the entire staff at the “JFK For LIFE Bariatric Program” at The JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. I owe my life to the following wonderful and extraordinary health care providers: Dr. A. NiHalani, his staff Gloria and Judy, Dr. A. Abkin, Head of the JFK For Life Bariatric Program, Patricia Sullivan, RN, Bariatric Program Coordinator, My Nutritionist Megan, My New Nutritionist Nikita Kapur, and Karen Rose, LCSW, Chris and his terrific exercise physiologists have been very supportive and helpful in helping me develop an exercise program. I love to exercise now!!! If my High School gym teachers could see me now! Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and nonjudgmental approach in helping guide me as I transition to a healthier and more energetic woman. Always, Jackie Taylor
